Synopsis

Rocko earned and loved his reputation as the wild child of the rock band, Carter’s Creed. His bandmates dubbed him Animal, not only for his skills on the drums, but because he was always looking for the next thrill. Sex, drugs and rock and roll were what he lived for. That was until one night when his wild ways nearly cost him his life.
As the owner of Golden Entertainment Studios, Lachlan Edwards had a vested interest in his newest clients, the members of the band, Carter’s Creed. He wasn’t surprised when they quickly rose to the top of the music charts, given their talent, but he was concerned with how their drummer, Rocko, seemed to be spiraling out of control. When Rocko seemingly hits rock bottom, Lachlan decides to step in and offer him a chance to recover.
Will Rocko accept Lachlan’s offer even if it means facing the past he’s tried so hard to run away from, or will it all prove to be too much and send him spinning out of control once again?

Review

Renewing the Soul is book four in Annabella Michaels’ Souls of Chicago Series. Though each book could be read as a standalone I would recommend reading these in order. As each book ends the epilogue shows the next book coming so they sort of overlap.

So, if you’ve been reading in order you know that this is Rocko’s story. He’s the drummer of Carter’s Creed. We’ve seen him throughout this series. He’s the drug & alcohol addicted friend who is also considered a whore. At least, up until now, that’s how he’s been perceived. Well, we almost lost him in the last book. And we knew that this one would take place immediately after that book.

Lachlan, who is the music mogul who has the contract with Carter’s Creed, decides he’s going to save Rocko. He’s going to be whatever he needs to get better because he feels Rocko can be saved. Funny thing about books like this is, sometimes when the characters set out to save others they inevitably end up saving themselves too. And that’s what happens here.

Renewing the Soul is a perfect title for this book. Yes, it’s largely Rocko/Riley’s soul that need the fixing but so did Lachlan’s.

We see a lot of the secondary characters but because this is the first one of this series to step away from the Greene family, the secondary characters weren’t so much the Greene’s as they were people in Lachlan’s life that meld with Riley’s aka Rocko.

I really thought this was a beautiful story that was filled with a lot of hope and love. It’s a wonderful addition to this series.

  1. Thanks for the review. I love to read laying down on the bed or couch, but I know I shouldn't as it's probably bad for my neck and back.
