Synopsis

Geordie de la Rosa is a legend among wine lovers in Napa Valley. His ultra-fabulous style paired with a penchant for leading impromptu sing-a-longs has made him a star attraction at Conrad Winery. Co-owning a well-respected winery was never Geordie’s aspiration but he likes the niche he’s made for himself. He won’t deny that his job and his friends have helped ease his heartache and grief after the death of his longtime partner.

Levi Yeager excels at the art of reinventing himself. He’s been a minor league baseball player, a college coach and now a restaurant owner. The problem is he doesn’t know anything about the food business. And when his chef quits unexpectedly, he’s afraid his new venture is doomed. But Levi isn’t a quitter. It may be the only thing he has in common with the beautiful, sassy man from the neighboring winery who agrees to help get his new business up and running. Neither man counts on their fast friendship or the wild attraction they feel for each other. However, they know they won’t stand a chance until they let go of the past and lean into forever.

Synopsis

Only love can heal an impossibly broken heart

There’d forever been a thread running through Trevor Estes’s life—his son, Riley, strong and constant like a heartbeat. But when Riley is killed in combat, everything in Trevor’s life unravels into a mess he doesn’t know how to mourn.

Then Jesse Byrne, Riley’s friend and platoon mate, arrives on Trevor’s doorstep with a box of Riley’s things. Jesse’s all-too-familiar grief provides an unlikely source of comfort for Trevor: knowing he’s not alone is exactly what he needs.

Trevor never imagined he’d find someone who fills his heart with hope again. As the pair celebrate Riley’s memory, their unique bond deepens into something irreplaceable—and something neither man can live without.

But diving into a relationship can’t be so simple. Being together means Trevor risking the last link he has to his son…leaving Jesse to wonder if he’ll ever be enough, or if Trevor will always be haunted by the past.

Review

How do you go on when your heart is broken seemingly beyond repair? After the death of his son, Riley who is killed in combat this is a question Trevor Estes must find an answer to.

Riley and Trevor were so close, Riley was the sun and moon in his father’s world. When Trevor says goodbye to his son before he leaves for deployment, he never imagined it would be forever.

When Jesse Byrne, Riley’s best friend and bunkmate shows up at Trevor’s door with a box of Riley’s things...the two connect. Neither is looking for more than someone to celebrate Riley’s life with, someone to understand their loss. The more time they spend together, the more their feelings begin to change, to grow. They are each dealing with loss and haunted by the past, but together they begin to heal.

This book was recommended to me by an author who loved it. I’m so glad I took a chance on a new to me author with a book that felt very heavy. This story hurts at times, but the beauty, the new beginning that shines through is worth the tears. At times I’d go from crying sad tears to tears of joy as I watched these men learn to live again. All the things that make them different pale in comparison to all the things that make them the same. A truly brutally beautiful book that I hope everyone reads.

Review Tour: Whisper by Garrett Leigh #Review #Giveaway

Cover Design: Black Jazz Design

Length: 260 pages

Skins Series

Dream (Book #1) - Universal Buy Link

Blurb

Standalone second book in the Skins series.
Lonely physiotherapist Harry Foster has the world at his feet. A full client list, a six figure
Instagram following, and a publishing deal for a book he doesn’t have time to write until
his agent offers him a break—a retreat to the wild south west coast.
Cornish horseman Joe Carter is lonely too. Rescuing horses and managing Whisper
Farm takes up most of his days, and by night he plays chicken with the farm’s perilous
bank accounts.
At his sister’s unwelcome suggestion, he rents his only bedroom to a bloke from the
city, and when Harry arrives, he’s everything Joe isn’t—calm, patient, and gorgeous
enough to be exactly the kind of distraction Joe doesn’t need.
Harry doesn’t have time for distractions either—even shirtless farmers riding bareback
past his bedroom window—but his moody host proves impossible to ignore.
On paper, they have nothing in common, but Joe is beautiful…glorious, and when an
accident puts his life in Harry’s healing hands, the whisper of true love is inevitable. If
the trouble that put the farm on its knees in the first place doesn’t get in the way.

Review

I always feel a bit like a broken record when I sit down to write a review of one of Garrett Leigh's books. I mean there are only so many ways to say, 'the book hit me in all the feels in all the best ways', or 'I loved character A and character B so much', or 'Garrett's books always deliver the perfect mix of angst and romance'. Her newest book, Whisper, book 2 in the Skins series, is all of this and so much more. Harry and Joe have got to be two of the most unique and interesting characters I've read in quite some time, and honestly, Garrett's writing and storytelling just keeps better and better.

In Whisper we meet Harry Foster who is a physiotherapist and life coach. For those of you who have read Dream, the first book in the series, you'll remember that Harry is Dylan's physiotherapist and made a few brief appearances in that book. Now we get to find out more about big, muscular Harry and boy is he ever something! Harry is trying to write a book in the middle of treating his patients and posting on his very popular blog and needs a bit of quiet to get it done. After some searching he winds up at Whisper Farm which seems like the answer to his prayers-a quiet place to escape so that he can gather his thoughts and get the book finished. What he doesn't expect-or particularly need-is the moody, gruff Joe as a distraction.

Joe Carter doesn't really like people, except his family, and even at that, it's more a most of the time kind of thing. Horses by all means yes, but people? Not so much. So, when Joe finds out that his sister has rented out his only bedroom to bring in some much needed cash flow to the struggling Whisper Farm, well, he figures it's pretty much a disaster waiting to happen. Instead, Harry helps Joe realize just how lonely he's been. As the one in charge of the horse rescue farm, Joe spends all his time managing and juggling bills and taking care of all the day to day things leaving very little time to do much else but sleep occasionally and eat. Joe for sure never imagined someone like Harry would come into his life.

This is a very much opposites attract kind of book. Harry, for all his outgoing personality is really quite lonely and Joe is one big ball of grumpy and growly. But as the two get to know one another, they realize how much the need each other. The romance is a slow building one, starting more as a friendship with an underlying intense attraction but then builds into so much more. Garrett Leigh has an extensive backlist but one of the things that sets her SO far apart from other authors is how different each of her characters always are.

Ultimately, Whisper is a book about hope and about wishing for more, and being brave enough to grab on to the future you want and not letting go. It's about family and trust and so, so much love. Harry and Joe will no doubt embed themselves into your heart and you'll be rooting for them the whole way. The cameo of Dylan (my baby!) and Angelo was an extra special treat and I can't wait for the next book in the series!

TC Talks: My Next Release.... Book Release, Pervs ~Cover Reveal and #Giveaway

Hello everyone! Thank you for coming back to my small corner of the blog—especially after the last two pieces I penned. I’ve thought long and hard (insert dirty joke here) about what this week’s T.C. Talks might bring, and I shamelessly decided to promote myself.

You see, apart from being a bona fide bottom, video game enthusiast, and fried chicken lover, I also—on occasion—enjoy writing novels.

My last release was Campus Life; a choose-your-own-adventure, light-hearted college rom-com that ended in bukkakes aplenty and holes gaping. However, my latest project is the start of a new series: Straight Money | Boys with Billions #1

It’s contemporary. It’s gay-for-you. It’s billionaire bottom, former-child-actor (Fox) meets gruff, manly college-dropout (Ashton) fresh from his breakup.

There’s drama. There’s laughter. There’s tears. There’s something akin to prostitution going on—it’s a good time. Of course, most importantly, it’s a romance; it’s about two men, lost in their own way, coming together to make that sweet, sweet man love we all enjoy.

I’m currently aiming for a mid-June release, so please feel free to follow my author page to keep up to date with my goings on–

https://www.facebook.com/groups/tcortonbookclub/

And before I skedaddle, I’ll leave you with an excerpt from the book.
As always, thanks for taking the time to read my ramblings!

Excerpt:

“Who’s meeting who?” Ashton reappeared, shoving Fox’s glass of water into his hands before resuming his position in the doorway.

Olivia lowered her head, blushing. She traded a few more lines with Ashton before excusing herself. However, just as she took her leave she said something that caught Fox’s attention—

“By the way, Mr. Shaw. I looked into those apartments within your price range and found someone willing to negotiate. Give me another week and I think you could have twice the space for fifty dollars less per month.”

Less? Fox looked to Ashton, his mind racing to conclusions. I’m paying him a generous wage. Why would he need to cut back? And now that I think about it, he jumped at the chance to drop his gym membership too…

Olivia said her goodbyes, leaving Fox to wallow in the mighty shadow she’d cast over his and Ashton’s time together, further emphasized by Ashton’s obvious excitement.

“She’s something,” the blond stated, smirking. “I know women aren’t your thing, but c’mon.”

It was the first time Ashton had acknowledged Fox’s sexuality, and it pushed him over the edge.

“Ashton.” Fox’s face drained of emotion. “I’m attending an event next weekend—the Blue and Black Masquerade. It’s a dull affair filled with duller people, but it’s for a good cause. However, the prude in charge of the seating insists that she can’t have an odd table, and if I don’t find myself a date, I won’t be allowed into the venue.”

Ashton appeared taken aback by Fox’s sudden transformation from carefree millennial to businessman.

“Okay… Are you asking me if I know any gay guys?” he replied.

“No.” Fox was blunt, cold, sharp. “I’m asking you to be my date for the evening.”

Ashton began to laugh, shaking his head and commenting how Fox had got him. However, that laughter soon faded when he reached the center of the room and turned to see Fox still staring at him; eyes locked on and with a face full of purpose.

“You’re shitting me?” he sighed. “Man, I’m not gay.”

Fox marched toward him. “Who said anything about being gay?”

“You’re asking me to be your date! I don’t do that with guys. I’m sorry, but no.”

A tension began to grow between the two, and it was clear Ashton wanted no part of it. He swiftly gathered his things and made for the door, mumbling to himself in frustration, but just as he reached for the handle…

“Ten-thousand!” Fox called out, bringing Ashton to a grinding halt.

“What?” Ashton turned his head over his shoulder. “What the hell do you mean?”

Fox shrugged. “I’ll pay you ten-thousand to be my date. In cash. On the night. We’ll enter through the back—no red carpet or paparazzi. And it’s a masquerade so everyone will be wearing masks. Then, when we get back into the limo, I’ll hand you the money.”

He could barely believe what he was saying, but Fox couldn’t help himself. He had finally found something—someone—that made his days seem a little bit brighter, and although it wasn’t fair to burden Ashton with that role…in that moment, Fox didn’t care.

A few seconds of silence later, Ashton’s lips parted, and the young celebrity braced himself.
