Jamie
Ryan was almost ready to accept he’d never find his destined mate. They’re
uncommon to begin with and same-sex versions downright rare. Since his gay best
friend found a destined mate, Jamie figured he was out of luck. Until end of
semester stress forces him to go through the full-moon shift early. Stuck in
wolf form, he runs into none other than his destined mate. Who’s human.
Chad
Sutton has always had good instincts. They served him well as a detective and
continued on when he went private. Those instincts tell him there’s something
about the dog that comes up to him while running away from animal control that
isn’t quite right. He works to put the pieces together, but is unsuccessful
until his dog turns into a human before his eyes.
Jamie has no idea what a shifter’s mate bite will do to a
human. He’s terrified to try—and possibly kill his mate. They hunt together for
answers while working together on a case for Chad. It’s easy to see they belong
together, but Jamie fears the gods gave him someone he can’t keep.
Review
The only time insta
love/lust works for me is in shifter books. It's the animalistic quality
it brings. This is book two in Grace's Forbes Mates series. (you should
read them in order in my opinion) I actually loved this book even more
than the first one. So, we have Jaime who pretty much keeps his inner
animal stagnant for so long that it takes control and he basically
bursts. Jamie turns into Murray (his wolf/dog) and that is how Chad
finds him. To Chad Jamie is Murray and I absolutely adored Murray's
antics. The two of them were absolutely hilarious! I thought how
Jamie/Murray finds his mate (Chad) was written perfectly. It is so very
clever how these two come to be.
There's comedy, fluff, and even some angst in here. But it's just the right amount of everything and it worked very well with the story.
Great addition to this series!

Hello! Thank you to Diverse Reader for the space on
the blog today!
This is the second stop on the Music Clues part of the
blog tour. You can see the first one over at the Dreamspinner blog.
Links to all the stops can be found on my website at the blog tour page: http://www.grace-duncan.com/graces-blog/patience-blog-tour
I’m a huge music fan and when I sat down to write Patience, I’d figured out pretty quickly
that Chad was, as well. He absolutely loves 80s music and has a tendency to
quote (or, rather, refer to them since I didn’t want to get into copyright
trouble) the songs. Twelve of those 80s songs were referenced by Chad
throughout Patience.
For twelve of the stops on the tour, there will be a
clue (the reference) to one of the songs and an answer with excerpt for one of
the other songs. You can see which blogs are participating on the blog tour
page above.
For today, the answer song is Hungry Like the Wolf by Duran Duran.
The clue was: “He paused to
lower the volume on the stereo he’d just turned on, laughing when he heard
Duran Duran talk about hunting and being hungry.”

Excerpt
And the excerpt from Patience:
Chad stared at his dog, who had just turned into a person. A guy.
A hot guy.
“Well, that’s not quite what I expected,” he blurted as the guy
stood. Chad couldn’t stop his eyes from traveling down the man’s body, pausing
a little too long on his pretty, nice-sized cock before moving back up to the
gorgeous blue eyes.
Murray—Jamie—smiled. Chad didn’t know if it was for the once-over
or the comment. “What did you expect? Uh, actually… do you have a towel? I’m
kind of naked.”
“I’m not minding the view,” Chad mumbled as he turned toward the
closet.
“Well, I’m glad you like what you see, but… explanations might be
a little easier if I’m not naked.”
Chad blinked at him. “You heard that?”
Jamie nodded as he wrapped the towel around his waist, then
pointed to his ear. “Sensitive hearing. And, uh, actually, could I use your
phone? I’ve got a couple of friends who are probably really worried about me.”
“Oh, sure,” Chad said, going back out to the kitchen to retrieve
his. Footsteps followed him, and he turned to hand the phone over, seeing Jamie
had caught up. “Maybe you’d prefer some shorts or something?”
“That’d be great, thanks.” Jamie smiled, and Chad had to force
himself to look away. The man wasn’t just hot, but gorgeous.
Chad hurried away. He stopped in the bedroom long enough to
pull jeans on—and thus hide his hard-on—and grab a pair of drawstring shorts.
He’d noticed Jamie was quite a bit leaner than he was. He paused to lower the
volume on the stereo he’d just turned on, laughing when he heard Duran Duran
talk about hunting and being hungry. When he got back to the kitchen, Jamie was
still on the phone.
And the next clue is here:
“Bob Seger sang something about the moon
being ghostly white.”
Each tour stop will have an individual
prize as well as an entry into the grand prize.
Good luck! And thanks for participating!
