When the last thing you want, is everything you need….
Seb Calloway isn’t interested in shifters. After his best friend bonded with one, he avoids getting involved with them—no matter how hot they are—to prevent the same thing from happening to him. Why take the risk for a few hours of fun?
Tim Walters is the pack doctor. Considered to be mild-mannered and non-threatening by pack standards, he prides himself on being able to stay calm and maintain his control at all times. Desperate for a bond of his own, he knows his interest in Seb is an exercise in futility, but he can’t seem to help himself.
When news emerges that threatens Seb’s safety, he and Tim need to fake a relationship to keep Seb safe. Despite Seb’s refusal to be anything other than friends with benefits, what starts out as pretend, quickly becomes more—for Tim at least. If Tim doesn't want to end up heartbroken, he needs to prove to Seb that loving a shifter doesn’t mean losing himself.
Review
Bitten by Design is book two in Annabelle Jacob’s Regent
Park Pack series. Book one, Bitten by Mistake, came out last year and I had so
much love for it. It was a favorite read of 2016 for me. Bitten by Design moves
the story along where the last one ended. We don’t exactly know how much time
has passed but it can’t be too much. Jared and Nathan are blissfully bonded and
living in Nathan’s place. Seb, who is one of the MC’s of this story, is in
Jared’s old flat. He’s Jared’s best friend and you may remember him from book
one.
Tim, the pack’s doctor, is the other MC. You have to
remember him from the other book. He was vital to the survival of a certain
shifter. When we read book one we sort of hoped that the next book would be
about these two, and so it was.
We are still searching for those rogue shifters and we are
also dealing with trust issues with P-Pack. Seb is in great danger and Tim is
thrust into his life, oh so willingly, to play his “pretend boyfriend” to keep
him safe. Now, there was a huge predictability to their situation and I doubt
it’s shocking that love plays in this. But, Seb struggles so much with his
feelings toward shifters and his hatred to being bonded.
My heart broke for Tim a few times reading this. The
restraint he shows and respect he gives Seb is so commendable and I adored his character greatly! Their progression was a slow one but not
unbearable. There’s a bit of suspense to
this story but not as much as in book one.
Also, the author has left us hoping for a couple other
secondary characters to get their own stories so I will happily be stalking the
author’s website for more from her.
This is an exciting and well written series. Though you CAN
read Bitten by Design as a standalone I wouldn’t recommend it. It is following
a plot that adds more and more with each book so do read it in order.
