This pack of self-proclaimed nerds set out on an adventure that defines every young man’s life—the search for love, or at least what they think love is. Review

I'm not sure about you all, but YA--especially LGBTQIA YA--has a very special place in my heart. I read as much of it as I can because there's something about a YA book that just gets to me. I imagine it has a lot to do with that whole coming of age aspect, when the world seems so big and the characters are just trying to find their place and figure out exactly who they are. I love the mistakes they make, the friends they have, the way each and every decision seems like life or death (ah, the dramatics of a teenager, yeah?), and they way they grow and learn through experiences and heartache. John Goode's wonderful Jordan vs. All the Boys was all of this and so much more. I laughed, sometimes so hard it hurt, and I sighed and swooned a lot, with a few shakes of my head thrown in because we are talking about teenage boys here.

Jordan, his BFF, Brandon, and their other two friends, Ethan and Dom, have spent the summer playing video games. That's what summer is for, right? Hanging out, no stress, just enjoying being footloose and fancy free. The summer is going along just fine until Jordan decides that they all need to head to a club and really start enjoying their summer. The antics of these boys ... oh man, will they ever make you chuckle. I love they way their friendships are portrayed, honest and blunt and full of that in your face smack talk that boys do so well. Things don't go smoothly though, of course they don't. There's angst and drama and wrong decisions made, but hell, this is what growing up means.

Jordan is as endearing as he is frustrating. You'll want to hug him then turn around and shake him for some of the things he does and says but Goode does such a fantastic job making him lovable that really all you want is for Jordan to be happy. Jordan vs. All the Boys is full of heart and feels and laughs. If you like your books with great characters, lots of emotions, and some laughs along the way, make sure you check this one out.
