I love this feature All About Me And What's To Come. I'm finding out so much about authors in our community. Today we get into the brain of Kate Hawthorne ans see what's been and what is. So, get comfy and enjoy.
Hey everyone! My name is Kate Hawthorne and I’m super excited to be here today, and before I forget, a huge thanks to Meredith for allowing me to come through :D
I wanted to pop by today to tell you all a bit about my current series, Giving Consent. It’s a steamy and kinky four book series, available on Amazon (all four books are free in KU). You can check it out here ->
Worth the Chance is the fourth book in the series and it’s all about Verity Jones, who is a sassy nonbinary switch. We first meet Verity in Worth the Risk (#1), and that’s when Aaron Hoffman meets them, too. Writing Worth the Chance was a lot of fun (and hard af) because I got to trace Verity and Aaron’s story back through the first three books. It was great to show their relationship from THEIR perspective and give readers a chance to fall in love with them the way they fell in love with each other.
The Giving Consent books all have some degree of BDSM in them. I *love* a good kink book, and it’s been especially pleasurable for me to add BDSM into my books. I’m glad it’s been so well received by everyone because I know it’s not for everyone. When I was (much) younger, I worked as a pro-Domme at a popular dungeon in Los Angeles. I picked up a ton of real world experience and had my eyes opened to things I’d only read about. There is so much about kink, and the D/s dynamic especially that appeals to me, and I really try to infuse some of the nuanced things that I’ve experienced into the stories I write.
Wrapping up this series has been bittersweet, but I’m very excited to be moving onto something NEW. Up until now, all my books have taken place in Los Angeles (where I live), but we’re moving on!
Edgewood is a small town with big secrets, and it’s time they’re exposed.
The first book in the Secrets in Edgewood series is actually going to be FREE. It’s part of a Valentine’s Day giveaway I’m participating in, and the first full length release will follow shortly after. I wouldn’t want anyone to miss out on them, so be sure to join my Facebook group –- or sign up for my newsletter –
In closing, I’d love to give away a free signed paperback (US entries only) from my backlist to someone. Just comment below and I’ll let Meredith pick a winner.Contest ends February 8th.
