Synopsis

Themes: age gap, daddy kink

With middle-age looming, Greg offsets his boring day job with what truly feeds his soul: photography. The camera is an extension of himself where he exposes his passion for the intersect of pleasure and pain. However, the lens also acts as a barrier, protecting his subjects from the shameful mistakes of his past, and Greg is left isolated and lonely.

Emyr stands on the cusp of fame, but adulation and abuse are both eroding his confidence, and one night, at the river’s edge, he seeks solace in the rain, hoping to hide his tears.
The photographer and the virgin rock star share an accidental connection on that dark, drizzly night. When Greg invites Emyr back to his hotel room, no strings attached, the young man should have bolted. Instead, an odd sense of trust allows him to follow Greg’s lead.

When the camera comes out, Emyr learns the stage isn’t the only place he loves to perform as Greg touches something inside him that rarely awakens. Faced with a beautiful, talented boy whose soul is as lonely as his own, will Greg be able to face his past and come to terms with it, or will he run from the connection he so desperately desires?

Review

Bey Deckard is a new to me author (always a scary thing to try!) but when I read a blurb that mentions age gap PLUS daddy kink? Well, I knew this was a book I had to check out. Throw in a bad boy rock star and I was all in from the word go. Exposed is a sweet love story with some kink mixed in to spice it up, and I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. Greg and Emyr were such engaging, complex characters who are both a little broken and cross paths one rainy evening in London. Neither imagines the romance that would develop from a spur of the moment invitation from Greg to Emry to come up to his hotel room for a beer, but what follows is a deep and true love.

From the very first interaction you can feel the connection between these two. They open up in ways they've never done before and once Greg has Emyr sighted through his camera lens, well, things get interesting, quick. I really like what Bey did with the camera and the questions ... and how it connected so perfectly to the title. While Greg is photographing Emyr, Emyr is more exposed than he's ever been in his young life. He opens himself up, not just by being naked, but with his honesty. It was quite intimate and very moving. Yes there is a rather large age difference between Greg and Emyr--more than 20 years--but don't let that scare you. Don't let the mention of daddy kink scare you either. The kink aspect of the book is on the light side, and with the exception of Emyr calling Greg "Daddy", the sex scenes are more erotic and romantic than hardcore.

The writing is strong, the plot moved along nicely, and yeah, and the sex scenes were very intense (and thankfully didn't overpower the overall story line!). There are some really strong secondary characters like Greg's friend, Tam, and Emyr's "Uncle" Barrie. If you're looking for dirty daddy kink, you really won't find that in Exposed. But if you're looking for a book that's erotic and romantic with characters that are well developed and a plot that will keep you engaged, then Bey Deckard's Exposed is what you need. I'll definitely be reading more of this author's books so do yourselves a favor and check him out if you haven't already!
