Synopsis
“Because love is the easiest way to control someone and I needed a way to control you.”
Still mending a broken heart, Matthew has spent a year avoiding incubi and their army of hunters.
Now he has a new goal: lift the shroud on his past. Why had he been turned and abandoned by his sire? Why didn’t he feel the initial bond between sire and child that vampires experience? Who were his parents, and why had they given him up at birth?
Frustrated by dead ends, his luck changes when a teenage girl tracks him down. She’s strange, socially awkward, and she can see the future. Matthew’s future. She’ll help him if he agrees to save her from the darkness…from Tarrick.
With the incubi armies closing in, a mysterious protector appears, swearing his fealty to Matthew. He’s ancient, seductive, and cursed—unable to explain why he keeps calling Matthew ‘my prince’.

Review
So book 2 of Jex Lane’s Beautiful Monster’s series is just
as amazing, powerful, and emotional as the first book. The story Jex is weaving is intricate. As
always we are following Matthew. You know at this point what is sort of going
on with him. We know the black and white of what he is just not how deep it
goes. (I won’t spoil anything you’ll have to go read book 1 and 2)
We see a lot
of familiar faces from book 1 in this one and meet some fabulously new
ones. It’s not giving anything away to
say that two of the newbies of this game are Sam and Devak. You will love them…
You will. You won’t be able not to. And the who they are and what they can do
just shows you how amazing the author’s imagination is.
Sire takes Matthew on a different journey. It’s hard for
Matthew because of what he wants and what others want from him. Matthew
is beyond special and as a reader I’ve become invested in him.
I cry for him, I wince when he gets hurt, I’m in awe of his abilities.
The
mother in me wants to grab him and put him in my pocket and keep him
safe
forever.
There’s a lot of twists and turns and you will scratch your
head at times wondering what exactly is the end game here. You won’t know who
to trust. You won’t know who will live and die.
One thing Jex Lane has made me realize is that you need to
stay on your toes. Expect the unexpected, and for the love of God breathe.
This series is truly brilliant, well thought out, organized,
the characters are fleshed out and it flows wonderfully. There’s deep emotion,
action, and high suspense in this book, in this whole series.
I realize I am going to be stalking this author for what is
to happen next. You can’t read this series and not become consumed by it.
Utterly outstanding!
