GayRomLit— or as some refer to it as GRL— truly is the must-attend event for
people who create and celebrate LGBT romance. For those who are unfamiliar with
what GRL is I can try and summarize it. Every year in October (this year it’s
the 17th to the 20th with pre-events on the 16th)
the LGBT community consisting of authors, narrators, readers, and professionals
gather to share in their love of LGBT romance. There are signings, author
lounges, many events, spotlights, it really is hours of fun.
The location
changes every year and on the opening night of each year the spot for the next
year is announced. During this time at
GRL there are two signings. One for Registered Authors and one for Featured
Authors.
At these
signings you can go to the authors’ tables, talk, have them sign swag they
have, books you’ve brought, pick up pre-orders, and they will even sign
something you brought from home.
Lounges are
set up as well these are outside the signing times. Registered authors have one
and featured have two lounges.
There will
also be spotlights with readings, Q&A’s and so much more.

So, Meredith asked
me to write a post highlighting what I want readers to focus on for me this
year at GRL. sigh Guys, I’m terrible at this shit. It always makes me
feel like a talking head, and it hurts my soul. But I suppose I have a job to
do. huffs So, I’m gonna pull up my big girl panties and pretend to be a
functioning adult...or, at least, a human type person who passes as an adult
most (read: some) of the time. cracks knuckles I got this. For the most
part. Kind of.
For lack of any other ideas, I guess I’ll start with what I planned for this year. And I had plans. Grand plans! And while I wasn’t exactly a hare in my writing this year, I wasn’t exactly a tortoise either—which, admittedly, is kind of my MO.
Suffice it to say, those plans fell through because my MCs weren’t cooperating. But I shook it off and moved on. So, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, people, because I’ve surprisingly done quite a bit this year as we’re encroaching on our GRL trip and beyond. And this year has had a theme that shouldn’t surprise anyone when it comes to my preferences of sub-genres to read and write. What is it, you may ask?
IT’S KINK, PEOPLE! KINK!!!
Now about 80% of that theme has come in the form of my collaboration with fellow author, Morningstar Ashley, called the Kink Chronicles Series. Book 1 was Open Mind, Book...I don’t know, 1.5, I guess...is A Kink Chronicles Short (the short story I wrote as part of an Erotica Charity Anthology you can STILL find on Amazon, supporting The Trevor Project: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07SD1G8TQ/), and Book 2, Open Encounters have all released. Not to mention, we’re busting tail to get done with Book 3, Open Play, BEFORE GRL!!!
And last, but not least, in this kink theme is the Ace’s Wild Series I’m taking part in with 13 amazing authors. I’ll mention this project because some of the books will release before GRL, even though mine—Caged In—won’t release until mid-December. So, all in all, 5 projects this year isn’t too shabby… For me, anyway.
Anyhoo, I think that about sums it up, and I guess this wasn’t that painful, Meredith.
I can’t wait to see everyone again and meet
new people in Albuquerque in October. GRL is something I look forward to
immediately upon getting on my plane home from the prior year’s event, so to
say I’m excited is a ridiculous understatement. See you there!
