GRL Spotlight: Kasia Bacon

GayRomLit or as some refer to it as GRL truly is the must-attend event for people who create and celebrate LGBT romance. For those who are unfamiliar with what GRL is I can try and summarize it. Every year in October (this year it’s the 17th to the 20th with pre-events on the 16th) the LGBT community consisting of authors, narrators, readers, and professionals gather to share in their love of LGBT romance. There are signings, author lounges, many events, spotlights, it really is hours of fun.
The location changes every year and on the opening night of each year the spot for the next year  is announced. During this time at GRL there are two signings. One for Registered Authors and one for Featured Authors.
At these signings you can go to the authors’ tables, talk, have them sign swag they have, books you’ve brought, pick up pre-orders, and they will even sign something you brought from home.
Lounges are set up as well these are outside the signing times. Registered authors have one and featured have two lounges.
There will also be spotlights with readings, Q&A’s and so much more.
Now until October 14th Diverse Reader is spotlighting authors that will be at this years GRL. And if you want to know more about it simply head over to the site by clicking here:

PS: My form closes this Saturday, September 21st. I’m not sure whether I’ll have any spare books with me during the event. So if you’d like a signed paperback (or any Order Universe merchandise), it’s best to let me know ahead of time.

I’m so looking forward to my first GRL this October. I’m incredibly excited but, as an introvert, also a tad anxious. Be gentle with me!
I’ve attended other book cons—Euro Pride Con in Amsterdam (twice), the UK Meet and ShiMMer singing event. But GRL is bigger, busier and, err, much further away! Don’t laugh; I’m a reluctant flyer who struggles on long-haul flights. But never mind that! I wouldn’t miss the fun for anything. So I’m coming over, armed with my neck pillow, diazepam and noise-cancelling headphones!
Mostly, I can’t wait to chat with readers and meet my favourite authors. Some I’ve already met during other events. Others remain online friendships for now. It’ll be a great pleasure to put faces to names. Let the adventure begin!

·       The Highlander
The Order Series: A Dark Elf archer. A half-breed assassin. Soldiers. Soulmates. Lovers.
I, Lochan of the famed Féyes clan, know all about fighting.
As a half-breed Elf, I have struggled against prejudice and feelings of inadequacy.
A recluse by nature, I have battled my aversion to touch and interaction with others.
To become an assassin of The Order, I have learnt to overcome the limitations of my mind and body.
But denying the power Ervyn Morryés holds over me might be the one fight I lose. The truth is—damn it all—the relentless Highlander brings me to my knees.

·       Twenty-One Arrow Salute
An archer’s heart is a hard target to hit… Luckily, the Queen’s Guards are excellent shots!
Verhan Tŭrryés of Black Mountain is a handful.
Freshly enlisted in the Highland Regiment, he does all he can to steer clear of responsibility and commitment. Just not his cup of mead, that. Loose of tongue and even looser of morals, he rarely misses an opportunity to get into trouble—and into the other archers’ knickers, too.
In a unit composed almost entirely of Dark Elves, Hernan Seinnés, with his green eyes and auburn hair, is an outsider. When Verhan, up the creek again, is blackmailed into helping Hernan, he never expects to fall for him. But during the long hours spent training Hernan for the Honour Guard, feelings strike the Highlander right in the heart—and with the force of an arrow.
Unversed in relationships, Verhan finally plucks up enough courage to tell Hernan how he feels, only to drive the Asirhwӱnian away instead. If Verhan can swallow his pride, he might get one last chance to show Hernan what he means to him—and maybe this time he can hit the mark.

·       Don’t Fight the Spark
A stunning Barbarian pit fighter with a tragic past and uncertain future.
A courageous healer with a heart as big as his inadequacy issues. A fight for love with a touch of Magic!
As the Light Festival draws near, the Něssyrians craft paper lanterns, awaiting the most important holiday of the year.
The Lyliňg Fighting House, too, prepares for celebration--by laying fresh sand onto the arena and setting up a match against their top pit fighter, the unrivalled Yüuzuki Ōren.
His last match. One he can't win.
With the odds more than stacked against him, the gorgeous Barbarian is as good as dead. Unless his lover, healer Ĥaiatto Ẽkana, proves himself every bit as determined as he is clever and finds a way to protect the man he'd stop at nothing to save.

 About Kasia

A linguist and an avid reader with a particular fondness for fantasy and paranormal genres, KASIA BACON, lives in London with her husband. When not tearing her hair out over a translating project, she writes stories about the shenanigans of emotionally constipated assassins and sexy Elves. Otherwise, she can be found shaking her loins at a Zumba class, binging on anime or admiring throwing knives on Pinterest. A lover of MMA and Muay Thai, she also enjoys nature and the great outdoors. She dreams of becoming independently wealthy, leaving the city and moving into her wooden mini-manor—located in the heart of stunning forests resembling those of the Elven Country depicted in her tales.
