Featured Guest: Jodi Payne~ Lifestyle: My BDSM #Giveaway

Diverse Reader is excited to have Jodi Payne here today. She has a great post, a look at her books, fun info, and a giveaway. So, check it all out!

Hey everyone!

I’m Jodi Payne, I write contemporary mm, romantic BDSM, and East-meets-Westerns with BA Tortuga. Today I thought I would talk about my BDSM, particularly with those people who think it might not be their thing in mind.

I have been fascinated by the Lifestyle since I did the research for the Deviations Series. I had to learn the tools of the trade of course, and how they are used. But it wasn’t the how that drew me in, it was the why.

We all have a why or maybe even several whys. Why is what fuels the choices we make in our lives, including—especially—those people we choose to have romantic and intimate relationships with. What makes a Dom tick, what makes a sub need… thinking about these thing is how I build a character in my mind.

A Dom craves control… but why? Is he making up for a lack of it elsewhere? Is it about self-esteem? Is it about the sub and his need to take care, to protect?

A sub (note, not a slave, these are not the same), craves to give control away. His needs are different, so his whys will be to.  Does he have too much control and he needs to let someone else make the decisions? Does he need to give up a sense of self? Does he need to take care of someone, be what they need?

Romantic BDSM relationships are deep and complicated, multi-layered, full of negotiation and conversation and making sure both Dom and sub get their needs fulfilled. They’re constantly living up to an ideal of honesty and truth. The conflict and the high emotion is built right into the fabric of the relationship.

And then you add pain, and power exchange, and any number of kinks and the story can get pretty damn sexy.

For people that want more head work than physical work, Soft Limits (http://bit.ly/BuySoftLimits) is a great choice. It’s in the universe of the Deviations Series but can be read as a standalone. It covers the whys, the negotiation, a lot of the growth that it takes to build a fully trusting romantic relationship. And it’s hot, too!

If you prefer the more graphic scenes, the new series I have out with BA Tortuga, The Cowboy and the Dom series, would be for you. Plenty of tug of war and angst and learning with each other going on, along with an experienced Dom that likes to play.

Razor’s Edge (http://bit.ly/buyrazorsedge), the second book in that three-book series, just released on the 21st. But start with the first book, First Rodeo (http://bit.ly/FirstRodeo), as this is a true series and needs to be read in order.

If you’d like to know more or ask me questions, I love chatting with readers and do so regularly in my Facebook group Jodi’s Gents (https://www.facebook.com/groups/jodisgents/)

I also want to announce that I will be at the Salon du Livre Paris in March (20-23) as a guest of Juno Publishing. I’ll be signing First Rodeo in French, as well as the fourth book in the Deviations Series, Bondage. If you have plans to attend, please stop and say hello!

Bio:
Jodi Payne takes herself way too seriously and has been known to randomly break out in song. Her men are imperfect but genuine, stubborn but likable, often kinky, and frequently their own worst enemies. They are characters you can’t help but fall in love with while they stumble along the path to their happily ever after. For those looking to get on her good side, Jodi’s addictions include nonfat lattes, Malbec and tequila any way you pour it.
