Synopsis
Chuck isn’t sure what he needs and Master Jordan can’t wait to show him.
Stone’s shy junior investigator, Chuck, can no longer deny his interest in the BDSM lifestyle. The beautiful connections and raw emotions he’s witnessed between so many of the Doms and subs at Kiss of Leather, leave him yearning for something he’d never dared hope he could have: unconditional love and care from a man. He isn’t sure if he can take the chance of having a real relationship when he’s not out to his meddling parents yet, but the sexy Master Jordan, Gavin’s friend and the owner of Club Consequence, makes him want to take that chance.
Master Jordan has been biding his time until he can get next to the super-fine Chuck. Gavin warned him that Chuck wasn’t in the lifestyle, but there’s something special about him that Jordan can’t deny. When they’re finally alone, the chemistry is off the charts and Jordan can tell it won’t take much to bring Chuck willingly into the world of BDSM.
An unexpected development in the case of Corey’s kidnappers shocks them all, but not as much as what happens with Chuck’s family. Jordan teaches Chuck that secrets hold power over the person keeping them, and that gaining trust can only be achieved through complete honesty.

Review
I
have thoroughly enjoyed Morticia Knight's Kiss of Leather series, and
the newest book, Gaining Trust, is book five in the series. Each book
focuses on a different couple, while making sure that the prior couples
are still involved. The continuing story line of Corey and his
kidnapper's is still present and a focal point, as well as plenty of
BDSM goodness. While not my favorite book so far, I have been looking
forward to Jordan and Chuck's story for some time.
Readers
of this series (and I do think it's necessary to read all of the books
in order from the beginning to fully understand and appreciate what's
going on) will remember Chuck. He's Stone's lead private investigator
and has been instrumental in gathering information about Corey's
kidnappers and the continuing investigation that has far reaching
effects for all of the men of Kiss of Leather. He's also been quite
fascinated by the BDSM lifestyle and Master Jordan specifically. Luckily
for him, his attraction is reciprocated, and then some, as Jordan is
more than a little taken with Chuck. One of my favorite things Morticia
Knight has done in this series is not only explaining how BDSM works,
but WHY it does as well. It's not preachy or clinical, but instead
focuses on the emotional aspect of playing with a partner and how and
why someone like Chuck might respond and crave it the way he does.
I
will say though, that while I was really looking forward to seeing how
the relationship of Jordan and Chuck developed, in the end I felt rather
short changed. Their connection wasn't anywhere as strong or deep as
that of say David and Josh (my favorite couple so far) or Stone and
Marshall. It felt rushed and pretty superficial and I just didn't
connect to these two like I have all the other couples so far. And not
only do I feel like their entire relationship was rushed, but so was the
ending, and it ended SO abruptly that I was more than a little
surprised when I turned to the last page and there was nothing else.
Things are left very much in the air in regards to the investigation
that has been central to the last few books, and I get that we're not at
the end yet so there's more to come, but still. That all being said,
I'm highly invested in this series and these characters and I'll be
anxiously waiting for the next book! The characters are all compelling,
the story lines are engaging, and the writing is on point and the sex
scenes? Yeah, they're that good. Do check this series out, it's
fantastic and you'll be hooked just like I am.
