Synopsis

Ash Harrington's life is out of control.

At twenty-three years old, he's suddenly the head of a multibillion dollar global corporation he is in no way equipped to run. His father is dying. His mother's run away. He's spent his entire adult life playing fast and loose with his life and his loves, but when he's dragged into a position of responsibility with the fate of the company on his shoulders, he goes spinning into freefall.

And Brand Forsythe is the only man to catch him.

Icy, detached, nearly twice Ash's age, the massive monolith of a British valet is impossible to deal with and like no servant Ash has ever met. Domineering and controlling, Brand quickly puts Ash's life in order.

And quickly takes Ash in hand.

Even if by day Ash has to project authority, leadership, and calm...by night he's discovering the breathless pleasure of giving up control. The shivering thrill of surrendering to Brand. The sweet taboo of being submissive to the man in even the smallest things. Ash can't quite understand why it feels so good to put himself in Brand Forsythe's capable, commanding hands.

He only knows, as he faces the hardest decisions of his life...the only thing that can save him is the love of his cocky valet.

Review

Like many people, I supported this book because of it's title. I had never read Cole McCade before and honestly didn't have huge expectations. I just wanted to support it. I ended up actually really loving this book.

Brand Forsythe is just, whoa! Like I had to stop a few times and breathe. He's intense, taciturn in many situations. He was always a simmering presence that ignited me, the reader, and as the story grew I enjoyed watching his layers fall.

Ash Harrington. Yeah, so he's a rich kid who had growing up at the end of a very long list of things to do. He is thrust into owning his dying father's company, not ready at all, and he's also a runner. By runner I mean he literally runs away from things. Brand is really the only one that is able to tie him down.

Their romance is very cat and mouse for awhile. It's not until serious circumstances arise that they shift into what they are supposed to be for each other.

The writing was beautiful, great flow, loved the whole premise of the book. And while Ash tested my patience I did enjoy these characters.

Good read.

  1. I really liked this book! Some things were definitely harder to understand but still a very good read!

  2. I also bought this book for its title. I kept pushing it aside as other titles were added to my TBR pile, but eventually dived in because someone mentioned (again) just how good it was. I loved it. Ash needed Brand at exactly that time in his life. I will be looking for the next one in the series for sure.
