An actor in the closet, a sheriff in love, and memories that won't stay hidden.

Jordan Darby is known as the King of Christmas. The star of eight made-for-TV Christmas movies, the leading man who always gets his girl. Filming at Crooked Tree Ranch in Montana, in the ice and snow, Jordan is fighting to make a go of his new company and dealing with fears of exposure over one huge secret. After all, who the hell would buy into him being a romantic straight lead if rumors about him being gay were proven to be true.

Sheriff Ryan Carter is advising on the new movie being made at Crooked Tree. He hoped this would be one day of work and nothing more. Until, that is, he meets the hero. But while Jordan is sexy, he's also very much stuck in the closet - everything that Ryan doesn't need in his life. And then lust becomes part of the equation, and Ryan's quiet life is thrown into turmoil.

Their story unfolds against the chaos that overtakes the ranch, with Adam regaining memories that terrify him and make him look at Justin differently, and Justin leaving the ranch to make things right. Only through trusting in love and friendship can Justin and Adam learn to look to the future instead of letting the past destroy everything. But will they ever see clearly enough to do that?

Review

I fell in love with this series right from the start. Each book gives a new story full of drama and love and heat that makes it hard to put the book down! This is book 4 of the Montana series and is not a standalone story. There is so much that carries over from book to book that you must read them in order.

Ryan is the larger than life sheriff of the town that has some insecurities. What I loved about him was this core of strength and vulnerability that is such a part of who he is. He can give the orders as Sheriff and in the bedroom but he blushes with the best of them. Jordan is the in the closet actor who is playing in the Christmas movie being filmed on Crooked Tree Ranch. He is fun, and quirky, and sexy to boot but Ryan thinks he’s too pretty and sparkly for him. And Jordan loves Ryan’s size and that he gives a good manhandling with a huge dose of love and care on the side. What starts out as sex leads to more before these two even know it. These two were hot and had that mushy love stuff in spades. Watching them flirt and come together, then fall for each other with each caring moment, was wonderful.

All the while Adam is trying to figure out what’s real and not, wondering when Ethan will get fed up and bolt, and if Justin and he will ever get back the friendship they once had. So many questions that need resolutions. And Justin is feeling toxic and bad for Adam and everyone at Crooked Tree. He can’t get passed his past and how his presence his hurting his best friend. Sam is his rock and proved that every step of the way in this story.

The story is done with each chapter being a different POV. We get to hear from Adam, Ryan, Justin, and Jordan each one adding more layers to the story and filling in blankets from the previous stories. The setting for the movie on the ranch with all its wintery glory was described perfectly!

I truly loved this series and I will keep the hope that maybe RJ will be awesome and make another one for us ;)

The Big Brother and the Diary of Doom
 RJ Scott
Sheriff Ryan Carter is the youngest of 5 brothers. Saul is the oldest; he runs Carters Bar which appeared in book one where Nate and Jay begin their relationship, such as it was at the time. Saul was 18 when his parents were killed in a drive-by shooting when they were in the city. He is left abruptly, with four younger brothers, the youngest, Ryan, only a babe in arms, to care for.

So what was a brother going to do?

He gave up his dreams of college, and he stayed at home. He loved and supported his brothers. Eddie, Aaron (the paramedic from A Cowboy’s Home), Jason (A firefighter in Snow In Montana), and of course baby Ryan, who became a sheriff.

He has a diary, and in it, he details everything about exactly where each brother will be at a particular time. He knows when shifts clash, he knows when he has to be the babysitter for Eddie’s two children. But he is much more than they timekeeper for the five of them.

He is a father figure to Ryan, eighteen years older than him, and wise beyond his years.

One day, I will give him his own story.

Are you part of a large family? Or an only child?
