Blurb: The undead were only the beginning.
Topher, Jesse, and Sawyer thought their greatest threat were the Infected and Mutated that roam the world. As they struggle to reach the camp in Kill Devil Hills in North Carolina, they soon discover that the monstrous mutations of the undead are the least of their problems. Something else, something far more intelligent and lethal, is hunting them.
Topher knows that the only way humanity will survive is to find a cure for the strange infection that’s ravaged the world. He’s on the brink of discovering it; but the further his research goes, the more he realizes that curing the world of the infection may mean losing Sawyer.
The three will fight to stay together, and Topher will have to make the ultimate choice: cure the world or save his lover?
The Mutated galloped toward the truck again. Its lower jaw
was extended open so wide I was sure I could fit my entire head in its mouth. I
couldn’t tell if it had been man or woman; all I saw were the ruined remains of
human life. Bones and flesh had been manipulated into impossible shapes and
angles. Muscle and tendons were exposed. The Mutated’s body had been stripped
of everything that made it a person; all that was left was a spidery cadaver.
“Rio, drive!” I yelled, bracing for impact.
Rio tried to start the truck, but the engine just scraped
and sputtered. “Son of a bitch! Start, you piece of shit!”
“Hurry!” I yelled. I grabbed my seat belt and snapped it on.
The Mutated rammed into the truck, causing the vehicle to lean heavily on its
left tires. The Mutated grappled onto the cab, metal crunching beneath its
powerful grip. The truck fell onto its side.
