Synopsis

The last thing Tobias, alpha of the small Greenview Pack, expects is to find a lost human asleep in his storage building. As soon as he sets eyes on Pete, Tobias knows they are destined mates. But he cannot act on his attraction, no matter how much he feels compelled. Exposure to the human world could mean the end of their way of life, so he decides to help Pete get a room until he can reunite with the tour group he separated from.

But Tobias’s disgraced half brother, Zev, has other ideas. He takes a liking to Pete and decides he wants what Tobias has—both his position as pack leader and his mate. Tobias can’t let that happen, but protecting Pete means keeping him close, which only increases the mounting tensions between them.

Duty, protection, desire, and secrecy clash as the darkness within Zev rises to the surface, and only Tobias can save his mate—even if he never plans to tell Pete that’s what they are.

Review

Can I say first that I love this series! The characters the overall storyline, each couple that is introduced...love. I look forward to these books being released with no patience at all.

Tobias is the Alpha if his small pack, his job is to lead, care, and make sure each one of them are happy and getting what they need. Finding a human stranger in his barn who happens to be his true mate is the last thing he expected when he woke after a bad storm. He knows he can’t keep him, can’t tell of his secret, because exposing them could be dangerous. Pete lost and alone, separated from his hiking team, finds shelter in a barn after a storm and a jaguar is out to get him. Being from the city he has no idea how to survive being lost in the woods, thankful for the strangers that find him and help him until he can get back to where he belongs he helps out whenever he can.

Pete is a bit unlucky in life it seems in the beginning; but soon we get to see that he is actually stronger than he thinks, and much more useful. He was so used to not being wanted that he couldn’t see beyond his own feelings to what was really going on with Tobias and himself. I loved his sass and take no shit attitude, even from Tobias. I loved how smart and clever he was, even how he handled a certain grumpy sister. I felt the immediate attraction between the two, and the author was fantastic at fanning the flames until they set fire to everything. Tobias gives up so much for those around him, which both broke and warmed my heart. He is just a good guy all around, never seeing what he gives up for his own happiness. But he’s that Alpha who isn’t big meany pants just because he’s Alpha. The chemistry between them was hot and off the charts.

Zev, half-brother to Tobias, was the bad guy that was easy to not like. He felt creepy and slimy  right from the start. I love how the author describes the power and darkness that surrounds him. He wasn’t as clever as he thought he was, that’s for sure, but he was blinded by his hatred and want that he couldn’t see the truth in front of him.

Can’t wait for the next in the series, which from the story, might be Greg and a certain human...
