It might be a sham to his boss, but it's all too real to him.
Administrative assistant Jonah Hollis has nurtured a hopeless crush on his boss, millionaire cattle rancher Lincoln Courtwright, ever since he started working for him. But hope is kindled when Linc and beautiful rodeo star Melissa Cutler break up just weeks before the biggest event of the Dallas social season, the Cattle Baron’s Ball, and Linc asks Jonah to accompany him in her place.
Is it all a ploy to make Melissa jealous? Can Jonah fit into Linc’s world? It takes some encouragement from his roommates and his best friend, Caylee, for Jonah to agree. Before long, Jonah dares to believe Linc might just feel something for him… until interfering family and a series of misunderstandings threaten his fragile dream of happiness.
I have read a bunch of these Dreamspun Desires books from Dreamspinner Press and some I like, and some I love. I really loved The Cattle Baron’s Bogus Boyfriend. It was fun, swoony, super sweet. A true love story, fluff and all. But not too much fluff. Just enough.
Linc isn’t like any millionaire I’ve even known. He’s so down to earth, kind, humble, and dreamy! He’s also Jonah’s boss. Jonah is a small town guy who left home to find his dream and escape the bigotry of his life. He found so much more than he ever bargained for.
This is a story with cowboys, amazing food (seriously I was so hungry) great friends, romance, social justice, and self-revelations.
This story actually showed us that people change. That humanity can shake off stuffy beliefs and just let love win in the end.
This was a really enjoyable, fun, quick read and a fabulous addition to the Dreamspun Desires collection.
