Synopsis

He wants to forget.

West is an archangel’s assassin delivering justice to supernatural creatures who break the law. Not a straightforward job because he also has to absorb the memories of those he kills. Even worse, West is breaking the law himself in an attempt to free his brother from hell. If he doesn’t succeed before his archangel boss finds out, West will be joining his sibling.

He wants to remember

A young guy wakes in a London park with his memories gone. He has no idea who he is, or where he comes from. A bracelet engraved with the single word Tao is the only clue to his identity. With no sign of his memory returning, he drifts into a life on the streets. Begging is his only way to survive.

Two worlds collide

When Tao returns West’s stolen wallet, West offers to buy him a coffee. Tao delights in the chance to sit down with a good-looking guy until his instincts tell him to run away. Fast. West is surprised when Tao flees, considering how much he’d been mentally urging him to stay. Is he losing his touch or is Tao more than a scruffy young man down on his luck?

Only one way to find out.

Review

I’ve been reading Barbara Elsborg for a while now. I will say of all her books the ones that deal with angels, demons, and fantasy are my favorite. She grasps it like no other I’ve ever read. The emotion is stronger, the plots tighter, the characters are so well written. She guarantees a happy ending but she will convince your heart that you’ll never see it. Making the end of the story that much more outstanding.

In Archangel’s Assassin she plays with our hearts. I cried so hard I couldn’t breathe. I also felt anger, frustration, happiness, and resolution.
West is Archangel Raphael’s assassin. His job is to rid the world of the bad at Raphael’s discretion. He has a list, he follows it, the end. Once he’s done his time he can enter heaven for all eternity.

Tao… okay he broke my soul a few times. He wakes up under a tree in Hyde Park with no memory. He only knows his name because of a bracelet he wore, until it was stolen. He is homeless, foodless, moneyless, and at many times hopeless and lonely. He goes through horrible things and through it all he has this light. Hope. He clings to it even in his darkest moments. I wanted to have his strength. I wept with him and for him.

In Archangel’s Assassin we also have incredible mysteries to unravel. Who is Tao? Where did he come from? And how can he do magic? West, can he play both sides of Heaven and Hell without paying a price? Will he give into loving Tao? What are their fates?

All these questions get answered and then some. You will FEEL this book not just read it. It’s just so freaking brilliant!
