Review
Jenn Burke is one of my go-to paranormal/ fantasy authors
and she did not disappoint with this one!
Like the first book in the series, it wasn’t stereotypical
of most shifter books. The author gave us twists and turns and crumbs to find
out the truth in a world that was well fleshed out. I love the work atmosphere
that this took place in. Keeping Aidan in a familiar place in the hopes he
regains his memory and with no other family to help him his boss, Nassim steps
in to help and care for him. The secondary characters were fun and helped move
the story along which is something I need in books with extra people outside
the main characters.
The story built up with unexpected events and suspense which
I loved. The pacing and writing were great as well and were spot on to what I
expected from reading this author's previous work.
I do wish there was more romance or passion between the
characters when the time came but overall I loved them together and how Aidan
had this innate knowledge of Nassim. I liked that we were never quite sure if
Nassim was who he said he was to Aidan. It is a fated mate story but not one
that was rushed and since it took place it stages there was always a choice for
them to stay or go.
This was a great book and I can’t wait to see what’s next!
If you haven’t read book 1, The Gryphon King’s Consort you should because it’s
just as good, if not better than this one!
