Synopsis
Mort wants his de facto family back. . . .
He knows he doesn’t deserve them. Not yet, anyway. Not without making up for leaving them in their time of need.
But it’s not easy to make amends. Mort must show how much he wants the Rochester family back in his life. When his best friend’s younger brother, Felix, has his license suspended, Mort jumps at the chance to play chauffeur and to win back the family he desperately wants to call his own.
Repairing his broken relationships—with all five Rochester siblings—becomes Mort’s personal mission. Especially with Felix. Felix, who used to follow him everywhere. Felix, who idolized him. Felix, whom Mort has not stopped thinking about . . .
Felix is just trying to keep it together. . . .
With a perma-smile as his armor, he’s determined to make his family happy. Determined to be a positive role model to his three younger sisters, while their mum struggles with depression after her kidney transplant.
Unfortunately, no amount of smiling can save his license when he gets pulled over for the umpteenth time, and he still needs to get his sisters to school, soccer, and dance classes.
The solution to his problem emerges in the return of their prodigal neighbor, Mort. Mort, who left their lives without a word. Mort, who was in love with Felix’s older brother.
Mort, who is the last guy Felix wants charging back into their lives. . . .
Mort and Felix. Two guys bound by a rocky past—
—a past they must come to terms with to find true happiness in the here and now.
Review
I
have never personally experienced the dramatics of what happens in this story
because unfortunately, I was born an only child. However, that never stopped me
from witnessing the many crushes I was privy to with a lot of my friends that
had siblings. The best ones were always the older brother’s best friends. They
would love to fantasize about the what if’s but in reality, unless a miracle
happened or years passed the chances of them dating were slim. But what would
happen if said best friend to an older brother was just as close to the family
as he was to the best friend? Then when at a crucial time in his best fiends’
family— he leaves and never comes when he is
really needed before he takes off? This is where Author Anyta Sunday’s journey
takes us with the release of Happy For
You.
It’s
been years since Mort left the only family he truly had. He is now back and
staying at the house that his cold-hearted father owned and left to him. The
man who never cared about his son. Mort misses his family but knows it won’t be
like it was before. He needs to bite the bullet and try his hardest to get back
in the good graces of his former best friend before he can redeem himself to
the rest of them.
Funny
thing about best friends that pine over their straight best friend, they
possibly may miss the one brother that has loved them the whole time.
Now
that years have passed, and the blinders are off Mort finally sees the truth
but knows he needs to prove to the right brother that he truly does love him
and that he is definitely not second choice.
This
was definitely an inspirational story from start to finish. When two guys are
both afraid of making their feelings for each other known to those they love
because of their own insecurities of everything that could go wrong and
everything that could be lost. These two will realize that love is just more
than the physical act but putting each other's needs before their own and
taking the world on together.
