Synopsis
Giovanni Romero had been dealt his fair share of heartbreak throughout his thirty years, including losing his beloved parents in a horrible car accident. After suffering yet another devastating loss, he decided to chase his dream of opening his own restaurant and was soon the proud owner of Romero’s, a hugely successful and critically acclaimed Italian restaurant, nestled in the heart of Chicago.
Knowing that one more blow to his heart could destroy him, Giovanni had built walls up around his heart to protect himself. He has created strict rules for himself about the men he sleeps with, which include never exchanging names and absolutely no repeat performances. That is until he meets a young man who he finds impossible to forget.
After spending the last few years travelling throughout Europe and The Mediterranean, working as an apprentice to some of the world’s top chefs, 23-year-old Caleb Greene was finally moving back home. While he had enjoyed his studies, he couldn’t wait to reunite with his big, crazy, loving family; especially his twin brother, Carter. Most importantly, he hoped to finally begin his career working as the head chef for Chicago’s most prestigious Italian restaurant, Romero’s.
After a night of celebration with Carter, Caleb finds himself in a rare position, going home with a tall, dark and sexy stranger. Caleb had never had a one night stand before, but there was something about the man that drew him in. Unfortunately, the man insisted they could only be together for one night.
Unable to get the intriguing young man off his mind, but resolved to let him go, Giovanni is shocked to find that Caleb has been hired as his new head chef. Working in such close proximity to each other, could he keep his carefully erect walls in place and protect his heart or would Caleb have the strength to tear those walls down, setting Giovanni free?
Review
Feeding the Soul is the first book in what became one of my favorite series'. Today a Christmas story will come out wrapping up The Souls of Chicago. I wasn’t sure what book I would choose this month, but with the end of the series here, I decided to go back to the beginning.
Caleb Greene has returned home after spending the last few years studying under chefs abroad. He’s come home to his twin brother and the rest of the wonderful Greene family. Caleb is ready to run a kitchen, as a head chef and make a life in his hometown! Carter, his twin brother takes Caleb out for a night of celebration with the hopes of getting Caleb lucky! One night stands are not Caleb’s thing, in fact...he’s never had one!
Step in a tall, dark, handsome and irresistible stranger and suddenly a one night stand looks a lot more appealing.
Giovanni Romero only has one night stands, relationships are off the table for the restaurant owner. Taking home a sweet, sexy young man, who’s name he doesn’t even know is normal for Gio. What he couldn’t have expected was for the night to be so amazing and so unforgettable. No matter how great the guy, how hot the sex, Gio isn’t interested in more than one night....or so he tries to convince himself.
When Caleb shows up for work as head chef of the wildly popular Romero’s Italian Restaurant and meets his new boss, the owner no less....he’s in for a shock. When Gio and Caleb realize they’ll be working together, they agree to keep it strictly professional until they just can’t. These two are so drawn to each other and neither can deny their want, their need for long. Soon the two are making delicious food and even more delicious love together! They find that that first night wasn’t a fluke, they burn so hot together. Caleb gives Gio a home and shares his incredible family with Gio. They each find the other half they didn’t know they were looking for.
This is one of my most favorite couples! They are so loving and loyal, sexy and greedy with each other. I love that this book has so much heart, the Greene family is it’s own character in this book and throughout the series. Caleb and Gio and the entire Greene family show you how good life, love and family should be. It quite simply reaches in and grabs my heart and it’s never let go. Seeing this series end is very bittersweet for me because I love it so much. Knowing that Annabella Michaels has a spin-off series coming and we’ll see the Greene family again thrills me. If you haven’t read this, now is a perfect time to start the series since you’d be able to binge read.
