Synopsis

In a life time of yes, no is the sexiest word he’s ever heard.
After one too many misunderstandings with the law, wealthy and spoiled David Beauchamp finds himself chained to the city by the GPS and alcohol sensor strapped to his ankle. Awaiting trial, cut off from usual forms of entertainment, he goes looking for a good time—and winds up with his hands full, in more ways than one. The situation only gets more complicated when he’s summoned for a random drug test and comes face-to-face with the dominant man who took him for one hell of a ride the night before.
Probation Officer Tai Fonoti is used to handling other people’s problems, but he’s horrified when one of the extra clients his boss dumps on him is the sweet piece of ass he screwed the night before. It makes getting a urine sample a pretty loaded situation. Tai’s unique brand of discipline has Beach craving more. But while Tai relishes laying down the law in the bedroom, the letter of the law stands between them and kinkily ever after….

Review

I have to admit that I’m a big fan of this series, I love it’s grittiness and I love the family being built with each book.

I have been waiting for David Beauchamp’s story since we first met him as Gavin’s best friend. David comes across as a spoiled playboy and maybe he is to some degree, but there’s more to him than that.

After getting himself into some trouble with the law, Beach’s vices have all been taken away, except one...sex. After a particularly interesting, thought provoking evening of dominating sex, he doesn’t expect to see the man who made him feel so much again. He especially doesn’t expect to see him as his  Parole Officer. Talk about uncomfortable, for both men, for many reasons.

Tai Fnoti is shocked when last night’s hook up is a new case he’s just been assigned. After excusing himself as Beach’s PO, the two do see each other again. Beach can’t forget the way Tai dominated him and wants more, wants to understand why he wants this from this man. For Tai, laying down the law in the bedroom is the only way he operates. These two have a lot to figure out and we get a front row seat to all the hotness, the challenges and all the fun. Another great addition to this series. As someone who lives in the suburbs of Baltimore, I once again enjoyed reading about so many familiar places. It adds so much texture to the story for me.

This was another really good one and it was super hot too.

Synopsis

Can a future be built from pieces of a broken past?

Jordan Barnett is dead, killed as much by the rejection of his first love at his moment of greatest need as by his ultraconservative parents’ effort to deprogram the gay away.

In his place is Silver, a streetwise survivor who’s spent the last three years becoming untouchable… except to those willing to pay for the privilege. He’s determined not to let betrayal find him again, and that means never forging bonds that can be broken.

No matter how hard he tried, Zebadiah Harris couldn’t outrun his guilt over abandoning his young lover—not even by leaving the country. Now, almost the moment he sets foot back in Baltimore, he discovers Silver on a street corner in a bad part of town. His effort to make amends lands them both in jail, where Silver plans a seductive form of vengeance. But using a heart as a stepping-stone is no way to move past the one man he can’t forgive, let alone forget….

Review

Bad Influence is book four in K.A. Mitchell’s Bad in Baltimore series and I loved it! While reading the series, I’ve been so interested in learning more about Silver and this is his story and it was worth the wait!

Jordan Barnett died when his parents kicked him out at 17 for being gay and Silver was born. Jordan was sheltered and from a very religious and influential family. Silver is a kid who has to do whatever is necessary to survive the streets of Baltimore.

Zebadiah Harris was the young man Jordan loved and the man he feels betrayed him. When a relationship starts with lies, it’s only a matter of time till it blows up in your face. When lies come to light, things for these young lovers quickly go seriously wrong. Now Zeb is in Baltimore and comes face to face with Silver, a person he knows so well and not at all at the same time. These two have common friends and keep running into each other and are put in a situation where they need to deal with the past. The time has come for all the lies and misunderstandings to be put to rest.

This is a series that I really love, it doesn’t shy away from anything. It doesn’t paint a picture perfect romance, but instead real stories of love and relationships. This book is at times heartbreaking, it’s always so hard to read about parents throwing away their children. Silver is no one’s victim though, he is strong, smart and most of all, a survivor. I love the message of redemption and forgiveness while still keeping the attitude that I’ve come to expect from this series. We get to catch up with the guys from the previous books and those are some of my favorite scenes. This is one to check out, you can read it as a stand-alone, but the other books are so good too! I recommend reading from the beginning!  This is a book/series with everything, a lot of heart, heat, friendship and snark! All things I love in a book.

I love this series

Synopsis

When did save a life become change a life?

Bad in Baltimore, Book 3

As the openly gay middle son of the most powerful family between Manhattan and Miami, Gavin Montgomery knows his role—look good in a tuxedo and don’t make waves.

Waves are the least of his worries when he tries and fails to keep a friend from jumping off a high bridge. His last thought as he falls in too is that someone else will have to take over as family disappointment…until he’s pulled from the water by a man with an iron grip, a sexy mouth and a chip on his shoulder the size of the national deficit.

Police rescue diver Jamie Donnigan finally has life the way he wants it. Okay, he could have done without losing his father, quitting smoking and watching his friends drift into couplehood. At least he’s managed to escape that particular trap.

When Gavin’s father turns Jamie’s routine rescue into a media circus, he figures if he’s going to suffer for his good deed, he might as well enjoy a roll in the sack. But Jamie’s not immune to Gavin’s cultivated charm…and all the risks that come along with giving in to it.

Review

I am a fan of K.A. Mitchell’s work, especially this series. I live in Baltimore County where this book takes place and so many of the places visited in this third book are in my backyard! That takes reading a book to another level and it’s so interesting to see your town in that light.

In this third book of the series, we have Jamie and Gavin. Jamie is a rescue swimmer and Gavin is a high profile, high society rescue. The two are thrown together after Jamie saves Gavin and sparks fly. These two may come from different worlds, but they are evenly matched in snark, attitude, and sex appeal. They challenge each other throughout the entire book and sometimes you want to shake them, but the author makes us understand the whys of their attitudes.  This one is probably my favorite so far because I wanted an   HEA for these two so much.

Honestly, there may be a scene in this book that some readers will object to, Ive seen it happen with other similar situations. I can’t tell you why because that would give it away! I did not have any objections to anything Jamie and Gavin did because it fits them so well. These two are competitive and not willing to admit what’s looking them in the face at first. I really loved this book, it’s an interesting look of opposites attracting and finding out that they’re not that different after all. The heat in this book is off the charts, there is a lot of sex! It suits the story line and is written very well and is super hot! I only wish it didn't end so abruptly. I really recommend checking this book and the rest of the series out.

Synopsis

Causing trouble has never been more fun.

Eli Wright doesn’t follow anyone’s rules. When he was seventeen, his parents threw him out of the house for being gay. He’s been making his own way for the past five years and he’s not about to change himself for anyone’s expectations. For now, romance can wait. There are plenty of hot guys to keep him entertained until he finds someone special.

Quinn Maloney kept the peace and his closeted boyfriend’s secrets for ten years. One morning he got a hell of a wake-up along with his coffee. Not only did the boyfriend cheat on him, but he’s marrying the girl he knocked up. Inviting Quinn to the baby’s baptism is the last straw. Quinn’s had enough of gritting his teeth to play nice. His former boyfriend is in for a rude awakening, because Quinn’s not going to sit quietly on the sidelines. In fact, he has the perfect scheme, and he just needs to convince the much younger, eyeliner-wearing guy who winks at him in a bar to help him out.

Eli’s deception is a little too good, and soon he has everyone believing they’re madly in love. In fact, he’s almost got Quinn believing it himself….

Review

This book was one I’d be waiting for because I really enjoyed Bad Company, book one. You don’t have to have read book one to read Bad Boyfriend.

Quinn Maloney has been living with a closeted man for 10 years. One morning Peter not only tells him that he’s ending it, but he’s marrying the pregnant woman he cheated on him with. Quinn is shocked and angry and has to let go of 10 years worth of history. The worst part is that he is so close to Peter’s family, his brother is his best friend. What looks like the end of the world to Quinn, I see as his best chance yet. Quinn has been living in a world of gray and needs some color! In walks color in the form of Eli Wright.

Eli Wright is almost 23, he’s been on his own since he was 17. His parents threw him out when they found out he was gay. Eli appears to be all about a good time when Quinn meets him one night at a club. What starts off as some flirting and Quinn intending to take the obviously gay Eli to Peter’s child’s baptism....becomes a lot more very quickly. When a man who has been living behind closed doors for so long gets a taste of how good it can be, faking a date is no longer enough.

I loved Quinn and Eli’s interactions from the beginning, I don’t think either was expecting so much heat between them. This book is funny and definitely has some drama, the sex is very hot! A really good read and I always love seeing characters from previous books pop in.

Synopsis

Some things are sweeter than revenge.

“I need a boyfriend.”

Hearing those words from his very straight, very ex-best friend doesn’t put Nate in a helpful mood. Not only did Kellan Brooks’s father destroy Nate’s family in his quest for power, but Kellan broke Nate’s heart back in high school. Nate thought he could trust his best friend with the revelation that he might be gay, only to find out he was horribly wrong and become the laughingstock of the whole school. Kellan must be truly desperate if he’s turning to Nate now.

Kellan’s through letting his father run his life, and he wants to make the man pay for cutting him off. What better way to stick it to the bigot than to come out as gay himself—especially with the son of the very man his father crushed on his quest for money and power. Kellan can’t blame Nate for wanting nothing to do with him, though. Kellan will have to convince him to play along, but it’s even harder to convince himself that the heat between them is only an act....

Review

Kellan is done being his dad's pawn! For years he has done everything that has been asked of him without question! However, nothing he has ever done has pleased his father. Kellan has always felt that he has never been able to live up to be the kind of person that his late brother was. So he started to become reckless, sleeping around, three failed engagements! Finally, his father has had enough with all his shenanigans and has thrown him out without a dime! This time, however, Kellan will not let his father win. He has a plan and only one person can help him.

Nate Gray lives a comfortable life. He loves his job giving advice in his column. He is not looking for any serious relationship because all they bring is heartache. His past has taught him that. Never get close to anyone because, in the end, they will only turn on you leaving you heartbroken and shattered. Nate thought he left the past behind him but as he was sitting at the bar having a drink in walked a person fifteen years from his past.

Kellan knew it would be hard to get Nate to go along with his plan about being his fake boyfriend given the fact that he is straight and their very rocky past but he hopes with what he has for trade will work in his favor! What Kellan didn't expect was his feelings to change so much and for Nate to be so standoffish about anything more coming out of this fake relationship.

Nate knew this fake boyfriend idea was a mistake but he now senses that things have changed with Kellan but past hurts are having him second guess everything that Kellan is saying and doing. Are Kellan’s feelings really changing or is this another one of his big acting schemes just to get back at his homophobic father that destroyed Nate’s teenage years?

Definitely, a must read! I was so enthralled with the characters Kellan and Nate! They were both charming, funny and oh so stubborn.

Review

K.A. Mitchell has been a favorite author of mine for many, many years now. Her unique way of telling a story keeps her on my auto buy list, no matter what she writes. Take a Chance on It is the third book in her Ready or Knot series, and she saved the best for last. I don't think this should be read as a standalone, as these books are about a group of friends and their differing views on marriage and relationships. As such, previous events and experiences play a significant part in the story of Dane and Gideon and if you don't understand their history, the point of the story is pretty much lost.

Dane Archer and Gideon Deluca have been best friends for most of their lives. They've been having sex off and on for seventeen years. Dane doesn't believe in sexual fidelity, even when he's in a committed relationship. He's recently found out he has cancer, though he hasn't told any of his friends. He's finally asked Spencer, his boyfriend of ten years, to marry him, only to be left at the altar. With no health insurance now and desperately needing expensive treatment to fight his illness, Gideon and Dane get married. Gideon has been in love with Dane for years, though he's resigned himself to Dane never being what he needs him to be. This conflict is of course at the heart of Take a Chance on It.

I found this book utterly fascinating because of the way K.A. Mitchell has portrayed both of these men. Dane is such a complex character and the history between these two is so inherent to the people they are now. Gideon will do anything to help Dane fight the cancer, even knowingly letting his heart get broken, again, by Dane. Being together in such close proximity and for extended periods of time brings all the feelings both have fought so hard to keep hidden bubbling to the surface. Gideon sees Dane at his absolute worst--gaunt, vomiting into a toilet for hours at a time from the chemo, bald, weak--but that doesn't stop him from being hopelessly in love with Dane. For Dane, being vulnerable, showing weakness, is something he tries to avoid at all costs but fighting the cancer is taking everything he has. The more time these two spend together, the closer they get. It's not just the sex, though there is that, but it's finally the emotional connection that brings these two men together.

This book is emotional. It's frustrating and sexy and sad and hopeful. It'll challenge your views on relationships and how there are many types for different people. It will make you smile. It will show you a side of living with cancer many might not see. It will make you root for these two to get their HEA. I'm sad this series is over, but I can't wait to see what K.A. Mitchell does next!

As Ryan’s reserve melts away, Sam wants more than stolen kisses under the mistletoe. But a sudden thaw means making decisions. They could face the New Year together—unless one of them gets cold feet.

New York Christmas by RJ Scott
