Synopsis

Truth seeker. Promise keeper. Guarded heart.

By day, Jonah St. John is a criminal analyst for the Georgia Bureau of Investigations. By night, he produces Sinister in Savannah, an investigative podcast, with his two best friends. Jonah’s life revolves around three principles: a man’s word is his oath, friendships are priceless gifts, and love is for other people.

When the Sinister in Savannah team delves into the thirty-eight-year-old murder of a drag queen, they quickly discover that the story doesn’t end with the alleged killer’s confession in 1995. Continuing the investigation could have fatal consequences for Jonah and everyone he holds dear, including his irresistible intern.

To love is to lose: a lesson Jonah has learned the hard way. For a decade, he has embraced solitude as his penance for a past mistake. Then came Avery Bradford, a man whose warmth and sunshine infuses Jonah’s battered soul and challenges his resistance. Over the past eight months, Jonah has soared closer and closer to Avery’s flame until the thing he’s feared the most becomes the one he can’t live without.

The chill of danger merges with the heat of desire, forming a deadly superstorm. Will Jonah seek shelter or ride the lightning?

Sinister in Savannah series is a fictional podcast exploring the city’s most nefarious crimes with Southern-fried snark. The books explore friendship, love, loss, and the irrepressible human spirit. Ride the Lightning is book one of three. While each book is written about a different couple, the series should be read in order. Sinister in Savannah is an LGBT romantic suspense series with mature language and sexual content intended for adults eighteen and older.

Review

Ride the Lightning is Aimee Nicole Walker’s first book in her new Sinister in Savannah series and it’s off to a great start!

Jonah St. John is a criminal analyst for the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI) by day and at night, he produces the Sinister in Savannah podcast with friends. Jonah is a character I was so excited to get to know better having met him in the Zero Hour series. He is what many would call a “gentle giant” in some ways, but still waters do run deep in this man. Jonah is living in his deceased grandparents’ house and has a nice life, even if it’s become a little predictable. When Jonah comes home one night and his next door neighbor has a favor to ask of him…his life will start to change quickly. When the Sinister in Savanna group agree to look into a thirty-eight year old murder of a drag queen, they stir up a surprising amount of trouble. Luckily, Jonah has some extra help in the form of his intern, Avery Bradford.

Avery has been working beside Jonah for eight months on a project that could help change how crimes are solved. Avery is a genius on the computer and bringing him in to help with the old case becomes necessary. Jonah and Avery have been tiptoeing around their attraction to each other from the beginning. Both have their reasons, but soon those reasons go out the window. As the case and Jonah and Avery’s relationship heat up…things get real interesting!

I loved this book, I love when Aimee Nicole Walker has a suspenseful twist to her novels because she’s just so good at writing them. This book is no exception, the action, the mystery are on point and we do t lose the relationship in the mix. The friendships as well as the romantic relationship are the heart of this book. We meet new friends and see familiar faces and it’s a fantastic ride. I absolutely cannot wait for what comes next in this series…this next book is going to be so much fun to read. I’m so highly recommending this one and hope you love it as much as I did.

Synopsis

Doug is a cheese pizza kind of guy. A honeymoon cruise around the Caribbean is the most adventurous thing he’s ever done. Going on that honeymoon alone is unthinkable, but here he is, with a luxury suite and a broken heart.

Tripp is a hopeless romantic. He’s in a sinking relationship that’s been taking on water for months. He’d throw in the towel if he had one, but he’s naked and locked out of his room.

No one should be on a cruise alone, and Tripp has a simple solution: he and Doug will pretend to be husbands and enjoy everything a week of sea and sun has to offer. But as the days and nights heat up, can a cheese pizza kind of guy be brave enough to give love a second chance?

Review

Honeymoon Sweet by Allison Temple is just that…so sweet. This was a sweet, make you smile read for me.

Doug is a man of simple tastes, give him a cheese pizza, chicken, or a Cesar salad and he’s a happy man. Doug has had a rough few years, he lost his dad and was then left at the altar. After his mom and sisters convince the shy man to go on his honeymoon alone, Doug finds himself on a cruise he’d planned to the last detail…without a husband.

Tripp is a hopeless romantic in a hopeless relationship. Going on a cruise with his very distracted by work boyfriend is a last-ditch attempt to salvage a doomed relationship. Day one finds them fighting and Tripp accidentally locked out of their room in the buff. This is how Doug finds the attractive man. Doug doesn’t know what to do, but he can’t leave the man looking so distraught. Lending a helping hand to the beautiful stranger begins a friendship that leads to them being fake husbands. What these two men find is that their fake relationship is the best relationship either has ever had. But the cruise comes to an end and reality is waiting for them at the dock. Now they have to walk away and decide whether to settle or reach for something more.

This is my first book by this author but won’t be my last. This really was the sweetest book. Doug is so gentle and lovable. Tripp is fun, charismatic, and longs for real love. I found myself aching for Doug and then cheering his bravery. And Tripp…I just loved him from the moment we meet him. These two are so different on the outside, but what they have in common is the stuff you build a life on. I love a good “fake it till you make it” book and this is a great one. It’s full of heart and has a coming into your own vibe that I love. I read this and went looking for more from this author on Amazon. It just made me feel good and that’s so important right now. I highly recommend this one.

Blog Tour: Charlie Sunshine by Lily Morton #Review #Excerpt #Giveaway

Blog Tour, Excerpt & Giveaway:
Charlie Sunshine by Lily Morton

Book Cover

Close Proximity, Book 2

Sometimes love is a lot closer to home than you think.

Charlie Burroughs can’t keep a man. All he wants is a good relationship like the ones he sees his friends having, but none of the men he picks ever work out. Despite him trying to be the perfect boyfriend, the men are either threatened by his looks or his epilepsy or a combination of the two. It’s lucky that he has his best friend Misha to turn to. The two of them are closer than peas in a pod and fiercely loyal to each other. He can’t imagine his life without Misha in it.

Misha Lebedinsky is the complete opposite of his best friend. Being the support system for his mum and twin sisters leaves Misha with neither the time nor the inclination for a relationship. Quick and frequent hook-ups are his favourite means of communication and any other pesky emotional needs he has are met by Charlie, who he’s devoted to. He lives a life of happy compartmentalization with no intention of ever changing.

All of this changes when the two best friends move in together.

Being in close proximity means that they suddenly start to see each other in a very different light. But Charlie struggles when his drive to be the perfect partner clashes with the fact that he’s in love with a man who knows every little thing about him. And even if he can get past that, can a relationship ever work with a man who’d need a dictionary to tell him what love means?

From bestselling author Lily Morton comes a love story about a sunny librarian who has relationship written all over him and a banker who doesn’t even have it in his blurb. This is the second book in the Close Proximity series, but it can be read as a standalone.

 Review

Charlie Sunshine by Lily Morton is Book 2 in the Close Proximity series. This book is a best friends to lovers romance and one of my favorite I’ve read!

Charlie (Sunshine) Burroughs is a librarian with a great sense of humor, a sunny disposition, a beautiful face and seemingly bad taste in men. He suffers from epilepsy due to an injury and he feels like his condition is too much for most men to handle. Charlie’s best friend Misha is not “most men”. Misha and Charlie are lifelong friends and the two are amazing together. So amazing that everyone sees it but them. When circumstances have Charlie moving in with Misha, the two besties begin to see each other in a new light. Both have always known the other is attractive, they’ve just never noticed how incredibly attracted they are to each other. These two men are always there for each other…unconditionally. Will adding sex to their relationship make everything go wrong or go so very right?

I loved this book, I loved it so much! There is so much humor, friendship and love in this book! Charlie is a one in a million man and Misha is his perfect match. I loved that I and everyone else sees them as a couple long before they recognize it themselves. These two are soulmates, without a doubt…the perfect pair! If you’re looking for something that will make you laugh from the beginning, make you swoon and fill your heart, this book is for you. Lily Morton has the ability to mix the perfect combination of humor and romance and this book may be my new favorite of hers. I just kept thinking that everyone should have a friendship in their lives like Charlie and Misha have. Fantastic book and I so highly recommend it!

Teaser 2

Excerpt:

“You staying for a while?” my mum asks from the seat at the head of the table. Even after all these years, I feel a tiny pang of surprise. It was my dad’s chair, and I can still see him there, his dark hair wild with him pushing his hand through it and laughing loudly. He was always laughing.
I blink the thought away and focus on her question. “Of course I’m staying. You summoned me, didn’t you?”
She sighs. “That makes you sound like a bloody demon.” She looks me up and down disapprovingly. “At least take your jacket off, Misha. You look like you’re about to approve me for a mortgage.”
“You do actually know what I do, don’t you?” I say, standing up so I can hang my jacket on the back of the chair.
She waves her hand airily. “It’s something to do with money. Anything else is a bit of a mystery. Sounds a bit like a gardening job.”
“I’m a hedge fund manager, not Alan Titchmarsh,” I say snidely.
She laughs, not a bit affected by my scowl. “Aunt Ava still asks if you can go round and trim her bush.”
“Good God,” I say and then falter because there are no words for the image she just conjured in my head.
