GayRomLit— or as some refer to it as GRL— truly is the must-attend event for
people who create and celebrate LGBT romance. For those who are unfamiliar with
what GRL is I can try and summarize it. Every year in October (this year it’s
the 17th to the 20th with pre-events on the 16th)
the LGBT community consisting of authors, narrators, readers, and professionals
gather to share in their love of LGBT romance. There are signings, author
lounges, many events, spotlights, it really is hours of fun.
The location
changes every year and on the opening night of each year the spot for the next
year is announced. During this time at
GRL there are two signings. One for Registered Authors and one for Featured
Authors.
At these
signings you can go to the authors’ tables, talk, have them sign swag they
have, books you’ve brought, pick up pre-orders, and they will even sign
something you brought from home.
Lounges are
set up as well these are outside the signing times. Registered authors have one
and featured have two lounges.
There will
also be spotlights with readings, Q&A’s and so much more.
Now until
October 14th Diverse Reader is spotlighting authors that will be at
this years GRL. And if you want to know more about it simply head over to the

Now for our
Spotlight Author of the day!
I cannot wait for GRL. Last
year was my first time, and I had no idea what to expect. I was totally blown
away. I came home with so many amazing memories, new friends, and a reading
list as long as my arm. (Authors are readers, too!) This year I expect will be
even better, because I get to meet more new people, visit with old friends, and
I will have some idea of what I'm doing! ha ha
I hope to see you all at the Author Lounges, where I will be handing out the Ice Cats stress pucks again -- AND, of course, bags of dicks. I'm bringing even more than last year! And if you don't know what I'm talking about, be sure to stop by. You (and your tastebuds) won't be sorry.
Oh! And I will be giving away copies of Crashing the Net by
the boatload in preparation for Book #3 in the series to be released later in
October. Who can say no to free books?
For the Q&A I will answer anything and everything you
want to know, from my bonkers outlines, to what I have planned for Jack and
Grady. Well, okay, I'm only going to give so much away on that last bit.
They never see it coming…
Mike comes to Moncton wanting
nothing more than to play for the Ice Cats and finally live on his own terms. He’s
broke, bruised, and covered from head to toe in cheap lube, but he isn’t going
to let that stop him. All he needs is a place to live and some time to figure
out how to reconcile who he really is with who everyone wants him to be.
Dumping
three gallons of lube on the new kid is just another day at the office for
Alexei. He knows exactly who he is: a goalie on the ice, a prankster in the
locker room, and a man who knows better than to share his private life with
anyone. He’s let people in before and it’s taught him that if he can’t have
what he really wants, it’s better to be alone.
Despite
their apparent differences, an unlikely friendship grows. Neither of them could
ever have guessed how much they really
have in common.
You can build a team, but you have to
find your home.
Rupert Smythe is fond of many things. Callum Morrison isn’t
one of them.
Rupert is a quiet, thoughtful business man and, sadly, a total
wimp. Maybe not the ideal candidate to run a professional hockey team, but he
signed on to do it anyway. As his life has reminded him on an almost daily
basis since, this isn’t the most brilliant idea he’s ever had. And that was before Callum showed up.
Being in the spotlight is just part of being a
professional athlete, but Callum needs a break. He arrives in Moncton
unannounced, determined to help grow the team he just bought, and under the
assumption he’d be welcome. Possibly he should have tried to make a better
first impression.
Callum figures he can push through the rest of the
summer, never expecting two kids, a host of friends, and his growing feelings
for Rupert to derail everything he has ever believed about what he wanted, and
what he could have.
Travis Campbell has been at this hockey
thing for a while. He knows his days on the ice are numbered, but he’s happy
with the Moncton Ice Cats and he’s still got some time to figure out what comes
next. He’s been taking college classes online and thought he knew what he was
doing, but then he made the ultimate rookie mistake. It turns out the poetry class
is not the easier way to get his
required English credits.
Barnaby Birtwistle has exiled himself to
the wilds of New Brunswick, leaving London, his so-called friends, and his
cheating ex behind. His life is finally getting back on track, and he's going
to keep it that way, even if it means living like a monk.
Travis is expecting a bookish nerd to help
him pass his staggeringly boring class; Barnaby is expecting a meathead hockey
player who struggles to string two words together, let alone appreciate poetry.
Turns out that they both have something to learn.

About Samantha
Samantha
Wayland has three great loves in life; her family, writing books, and hockey.
She is often found apologizing to the first for how much time and attention is
taken up by the latter two, but they forgive her because they are awesome and
she clearly doesn’t deserve them.
Sam
lives with her family—of both the two and four-legged variety—outside of
Boston. She is a wicked passionate New Englander (born and raised) who has been
known to wax rhapsodic about the Maine Coast, the mountains of New Hampshire
and Vermont, and the sensible way in which her local brethren don’t see a need
for directional signals (blinkahs!). When she’s not locked away in her home
office, she can generally be found tucked in the corner of the local Thai place
with other socially-starved authors and an adult beverage.
Her
favorite things include mango martinis, tiny Chihuahuas with big attitude
problems, and the Oxford comma.
Sam loves to hear from readers. Email her at samantha@samanthawayland.com, visit her
website at www.samanthawayland.com, or find
her on Facebook (Samantha
