Review

I don’t know what it is with me lately.  The last couple of books I’ve read have featured grumpy MC’s, and I’ve loved it.

Of course, you’d be grumpy too (and a little sarcastic) if the love of your life decided to up and leave to be with a high school sweetheart/soon-to-be movie star.  But when Leo returns six years later, with a child, Grant’s curiosity is piqued.

Things didn’t go as planned for Leo after he left.  Leo’s relationship with Craig hit the skids early on.  His sister got pregnant and, unable to care for the baby, gave her to him.  He contracted a disease that caused so much damage to his heart that he required a transplant.  And the stress to his body caused kidney damage requiring a transplant as well.  However, that doesn’t seem likely anytime soon.  So, he returns home with his niece/daughter, Lucky, for help from his parents while he waits for a new kidney.

While it was nice to see Grant deal with his issues of abandonment from Leo (and there are plenty), the real prize is his developing relationship with Lucky.  He treats her like an adult (partially because he doesn’t know how to deal with kids), doing things like teaching her chess instead of something more childlike.  She responds to him in a very mature way.  And it’s through Grant’s relationship with Lucky that he developed a relationship with Leo again.  But leave it a kid to be the real scene stealer!

I also liked the fact that Grant never changed his personality with Leo as the latter’s health began to deteriorate.  He never coddled his boyfriend, instead remaining just as sarcastic as he had always been.  Because, I think, he understood that if he treated Leo any differently, it would be a disservice to their relationship.  A sarcastic, pushy doctor was who Leo knew, and that was who Leo was going to get.  In the long run, that was what would help Leo get better.

Books like this show that you can have character growth without drastically changing who the character is.  Even while Grant wrestled with his growing feelings for the man who had left him six year before, he never changed who he was at his core.  Proof positive that you shouldn’t change who you are because you’re in love.  And Leo accepted Grant, sarcasm and all.  Which is how it should be.

New Release Review: Mr. Naughty List by Leta Blake #Review #Giveaway

Title: Mr Naughty List
Series: Home For The Holidays #2 (Standalone)
Author: Leta Blake
Self-published
Publication Date: November 11, 2019
Length: 292 pages

Synopsis

A cute teacher gets a spanking this Christmas. How hot can it get being on his former student’s Naughty List?

Is Aaron allowed to want a hot holiday fling with his young former student? Even more forbidden, is he allowed to want this student to spank him?

It’s another Christmas, and Aaron is still in the closet as a gay man and a natural submissive. With one youthful indiscretion blacking his ethics record, he can’t afford to indulge his desires no matter how pent up and needy that leaves him.

Until his former student comes home for the holidays.

Dominant and charming, RJ knows what Aaron needs—intense, steamy encounters and a firm hand. As Christmas nears, RJ helps Aaron unlock his true self. But family and fallout await, and all good things must end.

Or can their hot holiday affair turn them into lasting lovers?

Mr. Naughty List is a steamy Christmas MM romance set in the Home for the Holidays series that began with Mr. Frosty Pants, but can be read as a standalone. Featuring light D/s, spanking, an older sub with a younger Dom, former student/teacher dynamics, and, of course, warm, sweet holiday feels complete with a strong happy ending.

Review

The first thing on RJ’s list is seducing Mr. Aaron Danvers. That he can do.
His former teacher is even hotter than before and now after all these years, he can finally go for it. Even for just one night. In the club, they meet at, Aaron’s needy eyes are all over him and yeah he’s been invited to walk him home.

One night, one hot steamy night, more can never happen. Aaron burned himself years ago, an affair with colleague Coach. He really didn’t know he was married. No colleague no former students, nothing in that direction, ever. Also, RJ will leave soon, touring, as he is a musician.

Just one night with the man who gave him exactly what he wanted. There was no turning back.
Only one night isn’t enough, neither are two or three. Aaron desperately wants to give over the reins, and RJ wants nothing more than to take them from him.

There are complicated circumstances which make any chance for any kind of a future together almost impossible. One doesn’t think he deserves love and one doesn’t believe in love.

The intensity from those two men, the sensuality, the need, it was almost unbearable.
When they are together something magical happens, all their senses are on high alert, which gave me goosebumps. Aaron giving in and RJ strong in charge was everything! The BDSM play was awesome, the dirty talk delicious, the greedy need was more than excellent!

There are family members who shouldn’t be family, one woman particularly, at moments the angry steam came out of my nose. There are family members who deserve a medal.
They all bring different vibes into this story.

No wham-bam sex scenes, noooo there are long extended beautifully build up steamy scenes.
Highly arousing and appetizing to visualize. The sensuality dripped from the pages. The outcome of these scenes was just breathtaking. Read it and experience it!

This was an excellent developed story, it had a strong way of storytelling, emotions everywhere, with a good balance and a well-constructed plot. The characters of Aaron and RJ were outstanding, raw, wild, lovable and overwhelming.
This one will be filed on the shelf with exceptional highly intense stories.
An absolutely stunning story, a must-read!

Author In The Hot Seat: Leta Blake #Interview

It's another Author In The Hot Seat and today we have the lovely Leta Blake. I'm a huge fan, have been for awhile so it's a wonderful treat to get to interrogate... I mean ask her some things. So, sit back and enjoy.

Fast Fire Questions

What was the very first book you ever published?
Levity (though it was called Earthly Desires at the time)

If you could vacation anywhere, right now in this moment, and money not be an issue, where would you go?
The Netherlands or Oahu, Hawaii

Do you have a favorite quote you live by? If so what is it?
Onward.
It’s not really a quote, just my motto, I guess.

Describe the MM writing community using only three words.
Enthusiastic, devoted, supportive

If your life was a made for TV movie, what would it be called and who would play you?
Bathtub Tales starring Robin Wright

Are you attending any signings or conventions in the future? If so where can we find you?
Yes! I’m going to be at RARE Roma, a signing in Rome, Italy this September!

What is your newest release?
Cowboy Seeks Husband with my co-writer Indra Vaughn

What is coming next from you?
Bitter Heat, the third book in my Heat of Love omegaverse series

If you could only eat either ice cream or cake forever which would you pick?
Cake, specifically chocolate layer cake

Of all the characters you’ve written name one you’d like to come to life and be your best friend.
NONE OF THEM PLEASE OMG. They are all way too demanding.

Do you listen to audiobooks? If yes, what was the last you listened to and loved. And if no, why?
No, because I am actually put to sleep when trying to listen to things like that. For example, podcasts are all the rage, and I can’t get into those either, for the same reason. I have found that I can occasionally listen to a podcast while cleaning, but I’d still rather listen to music that I can sing along to, etc.

Finally, and so important! Coffee, tea, or hot cocoa?
Coffee!
