Review

Right off the bat I can easily tell the author did a lot of research. I've never been to Australia but I felt like I didn't have to be to know this author did her work. From the geography, small insights, and the lingo, which I didn't always understand and was glad Ethan often asked Clay what he meant. Bravo on that front.

The next part that really warmed my heart was Ethan's hearing loss struggle. I suffer from degenerative hearing loss and because of that I also suffer from tinnitus. When Ethan talked about constantly having to tell people "what?" and  "I'm sorry could you repeat that?" I felt his regret in each syllable. Losing one of your senses you've had your whole life is scary, depressing, and a challenge. My heart bled for Ethan because I knew exactly the pain he was in because of that. It's also why when Clay went out of his way to make life easier for Ethan I would shed a tear or two.

Clay was a fascinating character.  One of those genuinely good guys. No pomp and circumstance when it came to his life. He loved to sit back with a beer and a good game at the end of the day. Absolutely relatable to anyone who works hard. He was perfect for Ethan, not only because they shared the same heartache over losing someone they loved, but because they both struggled with aspects about themselves they were nervous about.

Each man helped the other see through to the other side and be better because of it. Keira Andrews does a fantastic job of giving two unique and rare characters a beautiful happily ever after. I very much recommend.
