Sometimes your worst enemy can become the best thing that’s
ever happened.
Case in point, Kyle and Patrick, two co-workers that
couldn’t be any more different if they tried.
Kyle is very much a player of sorts, commitment-phobic and
addicted to his phone and Grindr. He’s
more likely to hit it and quit it than to try and form any kind of long lasting
relationships. I wanted to reach through
the page at a couple of parts, and just…well, I’m not a particularly violent
person, but he did a couple of things, especially toward the end, that just
annoyed me.
Patrick is a few years older, still feeling the sting of
betrayal from his ex and resigned to spend the rest of his life alone.
Their boss insists the two of them take a business trip
together just before Christmas, in hopes that they learn how to get along and
work together. Unexpected car trouble on
the trip forces them to stay in a small, country town over the holiday. The question is, can they do it without
killing each other?
This is a cute story of two people who are polar opposites
with virtually nothing in common (I say virtually because along the way, they
discover they share at least one thing in the bedroom. Not gonna spoil it.) They’re trying to navigate their own personal
demons and learn how to play nice to with each other in incredibly tight
quarters. It’s not all smooth sailing,
of course. But they get a little bit of
help from the sweet older lady, Mrs. Wilcox, who seems to have an uncanny knack
for seeing the attraction they have for one another, even if they can’t. At least not yet.
If you like done-in-ones told in a straight forward way with
very little angst, then this ones for you.
