Blog Fail

Anyone who has been following me on Facebook or Twitter is aware of the drama that is Blogger. I came home yesterday from the beach to find my entire blog was deleted. In my email was a message from Blogger stating my blog violated terms of service and was marked as SPAM and removed.

I freaked! A LOT! It was gone! I had schedules to fulfill! Authors to flail about and a blog hop coming up!

Then I see on my Facebook timeline not 1 or 2 but a bunch of Blogger users having the same issue!

I disputed the deletion of my blog. It took awhile since I couldn't access my dashboard and had to have Blogger text me a verification code. Of course they tell me "We are reviewing your request for your blog to be reactivated, please allow up to 20 days for a response." OH. MY. GOD!  TWENTY DAYS?

I started looking at other sites. I had commitments! But in less than 24 hours Blogger reinstated my blog. The reason "Due to an automated error your blog was deleted. After further review we apologize for the error and any inconvience it has caused."

Thankfully it was only minor heart explosions on my part, but alas I am back up and running :)

  1. I'm glad you were able to get it back! When I first started "blogging", I was using Blogger. I heard so many horror stories about sites disappearing and them not reinstating them. Scared me enough that I just went self-host with Wordpress. Be sure to back up your site every now and again so at least you have your posts. Good luck!

    1. I very well might have to change sites. I've been looking into a few and WP is at the top of my list.

  2. That's scary. I also read it happened to others too. I'd also advice you to back up regularly, perhaps once a month.

    Glad everything is fine now.

  3. I would be raging! Backing up stuff doesn't compensate for the readers who came and may never check back. For me, one post means day and nights of work. To my mind, you are owed restitution, not mere reinstatement. Some people are effective at seeing that wrongs are righted, but my efforts generally backfire. So I'm offering you sympathetic indignation. It's the best I can do.
