Synopsis

Having grown up in pack that frowned on gay relationships, Blaine makes a deal with himself: one night and one night only. If he finds a man he's interested in, he'll sleep with him. That should have been the end of it, except the man he met was Phoenix, and all Blaine's carefully constructed plans went out the window.

Blaine can't stop thinking about Phoenix. Despite everything, he wants to see Phoenix again. What he doesn't want is for his life to get so complicated. Phoenix becomes his only way out.

Face to face with Phoenix, and trapped in a dangerous situation, Blaine makes the only decision he can: he has to trust Phoenix to back him up. But the attraction between them is as strong as it was during their first explosive encounter, and Blaine finds himself unwilling to resist.

But why should he? It's Phoenix.

As much as I was excited to read this book there was too many times I felt disconnected from the story and its characters. I loved Blaine and the author gave us plenty of “on screen time” to get to know him. Phoenix, on other hand, I never felt all that connected to him. Most of his scenes were about the pack business while most of Blaine’s were mostly about his feelings toward Phoenix and taking blame for a lot of the issue that arose in the mingling of the packs.

The writing itself was good just with the lack of togetherness from the main characters which lead to feeling disconnected from them and not seeing the “love” connection between these two guys. There was a chemistry that the author was able to show the few times they were together sexually but the deeper ‘I want to be with you forever’ chemistry wasn’t built up enough to make me believe it.

There were times during conversations that I felt lost in the dialogue, like the characters knew something I wasn’t privy too, mainly due to the lack of true history about the now rival packs. And that might be because at times I was confused as to who was from which pack which made a difference in understanding emotions and so on. There were a couple of holes in the story as well. Nothing major but small ones count if they are noticed. One last thing is the plot points, both story and character, were all resolved but in a very anti-climatic and low tone way which for me took away from the importance of them.

Overall. Blaine was what kept me going back. My hope for him in finally being true to himself and going after what he wanted was what kept me glued to the story.

Synopsis

Rudolph Hreinn has a problem, as well. Rudy’s in high demand on Christmas, but the rest of the year he’s scorned by everyone for being different. So Rudy’s the saddest man in Yuleland and desperate for a nice diversion.

When the winter sprite and the reindeer shifter meet, after a rocky start, a friendship of like minds is born. Attraction soon follows. But then strange things start to happen. Odd omens warn them of dire consequences for Yuleland and for the winter holidays should they fall for each other.

Can love unite two lonely men and save Christmas? It’s the most wonderful time of the year—for some frosty reindeer games.

Review

This is more of a winter tale than it is a Christmas story. Jack Frost is a Sprite that is powerful and has a serious attitude. One that serves him well and is invaluable to his friend Rudolph Hreinn. Rudy is made fun of constantly, it’s so cruel how he’s treated. But Jack has zero tolerance for people who are mean to his beautiful friend.

But, Jack is ice and Rudy is fire… the two don’t mix, or do they? Susan Laine has written a very sexy tale between opposites that has adventure, hotness, epic love, and great sacrifice! There was some angst to this tale and for a while there I was quite depressed reading it. Rudy gives up so much and that on top of spending his whole life being verbally tormented; I was almost at my wits end.

We do meet some colorful characters in this book and are taken on a wonderful adventure to save the world. It’s an enjoyable read and one that will thrust you into exciting magic, and amazing love.

Random Reviews... Boston Bauble Party by Susan Laine #Review #Giveaway

Author: Susan Laine
Book: Boston Bauble Party
Publisher: Siren Publishing
Publication date: June 28, 2016
Length: 106 pages

Synopsis

Liam feels sorely inadequate below the belt. To cheer him up, his roommate and best friend Troy scores for them a special invite to an exclusive and hush-hush Bauble Party held in a classy mansion in one of Boston's upscale districts.

When Liam discovers what the fancy soirée is actually about, he gets nervous and insecure, and wants to leave. Troy convinces him to stay by introducing him to Burton, a wealthy, self-made, clean-tech tycoon—who is also an experienced Dom befitting Liam's submissive tendencies. It seems Liam and Burton are a match made in kink heaven.

But where does that leave Troy with his secret and unrequited love for Liam?

Perhaps an unusual party is exactly what these three men with big hearts need in order to learn that size isn't everything and that they are better off with each other than without.

Review

This is a ménage novella that takes place in the span of one night. Troy and Liam are best friends. They have known each other most of their lives. Liam has issues with something about himself he doesn’t like and Troy is determined to make Liam see himself as the beautiful person he is.

Taking him to an exclusive sex party does just that and so much more. There, they meet Burton. Burton has a large scar on his face and though he doesn’t look perfect he’s perfect for them.
I really thought this was a fun, quick, very beyond hot read. It checked off a lot of my favorite ménage boxes. I loved all three characters and how much they accomplish in one night… not just the sex. They talk and are genuine and come morning you don’t feel like this was some inta anything. It truly feels right.

If you’re a fan of ménage, look no further. You’ll be able to read it in half a day and get a lot of story out of it! I hope to see more of these three in the future.
