Review

This is a very short and sadistic read. Of course the depravity is perfect Kol Anderson and you’re left feeling haunted and wondering what the heck you just read. This is not a story where you’re supposed to walk away knowing who is narrating, what is happening, who the heck he’s talking to and why he’s doing what he’s doing. You won’t get answers because you’re not supposed to. 

It’s a snippet of this character’s life. A day in his life literally. Not knowing what fuels him made this intriguing. Of course I want to know everything but I knew I was never getting those answers.

This is dark, twisted, and there are triggers as there often are in Kol’s books.

And here you have it!!! THIS is the Kol Anderson that keeps me up at night, haunted! Taboo is on novelette number 4. Now, Taboo 1 was pushing the envelope on darkness. I found 2 and 3 to be on a more softer-ish side for this author. I KNEW it was coming though. The deep dark terror. The words that will create visions and those will keep you up all night.

Kol has reached the tip top of the depravity mountain with book four. We see Weldon’s truest form. Though, from the last three books, we knew he was sick in the head. In this one, we see not just the sadist that ripples close to the surface but we see his sociopathy in full bloom here.

There is a psychological element to this story but there’s hopelessness too. And even though this one ended with a glimmer of justice to come, you’re not stupid. This is Kol Anderson we’re talking about here. This can go either way. But one thing is for certain. No matter HOW this ends Jake and Colton will never come back from it.

Like I said…haunting!

Remember when I said book 2 was almost happy and fluffy and out of Kol’s normal darkness? Remember when I also said that meant something bad was coming? Yeah well I was right.

Book three is darker and it’s twisting and turning into that hopeless despair that Kol does so well. Jake has gotten himself into a lot of trouble and we get to see… I shall say we are reminded how sick Weldon truly is.

Like the other two books this is a very quick read. All of these are fast and took me under a half an hour to read. Quick, depraved, and haunting.

You MUST read these stories in order. They are not standalone and they are following a path. You’d be totally lost if you read 3 first.

So, if that’s your thing than give it a go!
