Synopsis

Love can be dangerous!

Valentin Bychkov, rising star of contemporary Russian ballet, appears to have everything: wealth, talent, success, and a face and body to match. Not that anyone can get close. Bypass the entourage and there's still Valentin's sharp tongue and acerbic wit to deal with. He may give his body freely, but his emotions are kept tightly locked away.

Max Farley's life is a simple one. All he's interested in is work, drinking, and picking up the latest in a long line of one-night stands. The way he chooses to live may not be to everyone's taste but it suits him down to the ground. He's never met anyone who's made him want to confront the demons from his past. Until now.

A show in London brings the two together. Lust brings them closer still. But if rumors of Bratva connections turn out to be true, then dangerous men wait in the wings. One dangerous man in particular, who's used to people following his orders without question.

Difficult choices need to be made on both sides. Valentin and Max need to stop playing with fire and let each other go, or face the consequences. But letting go isn't that easy where love is concerned.

And some things are worth the risk.

Review

The Russian mafia exists and it runs Valentin Bychkov’s life. All he has ever wanted to do was dance. After the death of his parents, Valentin accepts the protection of a man he thought had his best interest at heart only to find that he has become the property of a ruthless mafioso who has no qualms about allowing others to use his prize ballet artist. While on tour in London, Valentin does the unthinkable and hooks up with the sound engineer, Max Farley—not once but twice and after that his fate is sealed. Not only has Valentin brought Max directly into the sight of his ruthless keeper, he’s also lost his heart to the guy.

Max has spent years denying the truth about a former relationship that began when he was only fifteen and ended in heartbreak. Denying what really occurred and blaming himself for his stupidity in trusting the older man who had seduced him, Max now spends his nights chasing a bottle and one night stands in order to fill the void in his life. When he’s asked to take on a job that lands him at the ballet he is stunned to see the most beautiful man he has ever laid eyes on. Being warned not to touch doesn’t stop Max from pursuing Valentin. Before long Max has gotten much more than he bargained for—a second chance at real love and a death sentence hanging over his head.

H.L. Day has released a new romance entitled A Dance Too Far. With some serious action adventure overtones and a nerve wracking dose of suspense, this love story proved to be a non-stop nail-biter for me. Valentin’s prickly, ice-cold exterior can’t hide the aching heart inside that he so carefully keeps under wraps. To show weakness meant giving his captor, Dmitry, the upper hand and that meant revealing just how miserable Valentin was—something he never intended to happen. So the dancer kept to himself, indulging in sex only when the itch became too much and never ever indulging with the same partner twice…until Max.  If there’s one thing these two men have in common it’s the need to keep their hearts from getting too attached. Valentin uses the stage and his dancing to escape his everyday nightmare. Max uses alcohol as an emotional buffer and endless one night stands to help him forget his past. When the two of them get together, the emotional response they both try to fight is staggering.

Good chemistry aside I liked these two men together. There was never any doubt that both of them had issues that could prove to be insurmountable but still each time they came together you couldn’t help but hope that maybe just maybe they’d make it out unscathed. That is not the case and I must say the payoff of loving Valentin is rather brutal for poor Max. If there was ever a better villain to despise and fear then Dmitry I am hard-pressed to remember one. I hated the guy by the end of the novel and wish so very badly he had gotten something far more painful than the rather unsatisfactory comeuppance he received at story’s end. Yet, as the author indicates in the afterword, it simply didn’t fit the plot trajectory of this book.

There was so much to like about this story. First there was the fact that Valentin and Max finally found a love that was stable and had a sense of permanency. Then there was the freedom that same love gave to both men from not only the past but their present life that was never going to make them happy or give them any sense of safety or future together. When you couple those truths with a plot that kept the reader on the edge of their seat due to the imminent sense of danger that surrounded Valentin and Max almost every moment they were together, you have a really interesting story that kept me invested to the end. I think my only quibble with this novel was how quickly Dmitry ending up backing down after Valentin’s ultimatum. The guy had been so very ruthless the entire book only to go rather quietly at the end—it just didn’t ring quite true for me.

Despite that, A Dance Too Far was a very satisfying romance with just enough intrigue and suspense to keep me fascinated and up all night reading. I think fans of this author are going to really like this one and as someone who had not had the pleasure of reading an H.L. Day story before I can assure you I am now a fan.

Synopsis

He'll love him in any lifetime.

Neil isn’t a ghost, but he feels like one. Reincarnated with all his memories from his prior life, he spent twenty years trapped in a child’s body, wanting nothing more than to grow up and reclaim the love of his life.

As an adult, Neil finds there's more than lost time separating them. Joshua has built a beautiful life since Neil’s death, and how exactly is Neil supposed to introduce himself? As Joshua's long-dead lover in a new body? Heartbroken and hopeless, Neil takes refuge in his work, developing microscopic robots called nanites that can produce medical miracles.

When Joshua meets a young scientist working on a medical project, his soul senses something his rational mind can't believe. Has Neil truly come back to him after twenty years? And if the impossible is real, can they be together at long last?

Any Given Lifetime is a stand-alone, slow burn, second chance gay romance by Leta Blake featuring reincarnation and true love. This story includes some angst, some steam, an age gap, and, of course, a happy ending.

Review

Anyone who's read anything by Leta Blake knows that a few things will happen. First, be sure to have Kleenex handy because your heart is going to get shredded at least one time. Second, the characters will embed themselves into your soul and you'll continue to think about them long after you finish the last page of the book. And lastly, the writing will be impeccable. Leta's new release, Any Given Lifetime, is all of this and SO much more!

Joshua and Neil's love story is one that will capture your heart and not let go from beginning to end. This is a romance unlike most you've read. Told through flashbacks-which are written seamlessly-it is a true story of love conquering even the most impossible of obstacles. Yes, this is a story about reincarnation (not a spoiler, you can tell from the blurb what the book is about) but it's the love and the hope that shines through. Joshua and Neil are truly meant to be together and though there's a lot of pain and ups and downs through the book, when you reach that one moment- you know the one, where everything finally comes together and you know the HEA is right here- it's glorious!

There is a lot to Any Given Lifetime. It's a journey filled with hope and joy and sorrow and faith. There's so much love, and in typical Leta Blake style, there's some scorching hot sex. This story has some of everything. It's romantic and swoony, it's emotional and painful, it will challenge your perceptions of life and death, and most of all, it just makes you feel everything. Right in your heart and soul. I can't recommend this book enough. Any fan of Leta Blake is going to simply love this, but any fan of romance will fall in love with Joshua and Neil and rejoice in their happily ever after. Do not miss this epic love story, you'll be so sorry if you do!

Publication Date: May 31, 2018
Length: 279 pages

Synopsis

When you stand on the edge, you might just find yourself falling.

Teaching Russians how to be cowboys? Levi thinks his father is joking when he tells him that’s what he wants him to do for the next six months. Working in the frozen desolation of southwest Russia he’ll earn enough to buy a new barn for their Montana ranch. But there’s a deeper agenda for sending him to the edge of nowhere. It will stop him sloping off on Saturday nights to gay bars and clubs for threesomes with strangers.

Pasha finally pushes his father too far and is banished to a remote ranch in the middle of a snowy Russian winter. Stripped of all the trappings of his privileged Moscow lifestyle, he has nothing at his disposal but a suitcase of designer clothes and a whole lot of sass. Pasha hates the countryside, hates physical work, hates the cold and hates cows. But de-prived of money, phone, and access to anyone who might help him, he’s screwed and not in a good way.

Levi’s counting down the days till he can return to the States and his Saturday night hook-ups. Then Pasha arrives at the ranch wearing eyeliner, retching every time he walks into a barn, and Levi is amused, irritated—and attracted. After a vicious attack on Pasha throws them into close quarters, both men are forced to re-evaluate not just who the other is, but whether they truly want to return to the lives they left behind.

When you stand on the edge, you just might find yourself falling in love.

Review

I have yet to read a Barbara Elsborg book I haven't loved. Each book is written so amazingly and Edge Of Forever may be her best yet. For me, it was easily one of the best books I've read in 2018 so far.

Pasha is outstanding. I adored him so much because he was who he was. He accepted no substitutes and what he is forced to endure proved how strong he was as well. After his father banished him to southwest Russia to work on a cowboy ranch Pasha is tested to the max. He is out of his element. Far away from money and all the luxuries he always lived with. He's cold, doesn't know what he's doing, and unashamedly gay in a place where all the other men (well most) don't look kindly on homosexuals.

Levi is from Montana and wants to start his own farm. To do so he needs money. He wasn't thrilled when his father sent him to teach Russians how to be cowboys in what felt like the coldest region in the world. It's there he meets Pasha and has to decide if letting the world know he's gay is worth it just to fall in love with this outstanding man.

The story takes a lot of directions and where it goes is exciting, brilliant, and so beyond entertaining. It's books like this that remind me why I love reading. You find love, wonderful plot, terrific characters, never a dull moment, and so much emotion.

I can't recommend this book enough.

Review

I love BDSM stories when they're written well. I love when there's an age gap. I love when there's a bit of cat and mouse, when there's a chase and the two main characters don't immediately fall into bed with one another. All of this and more is present in JR Gray's Say Yes. This is a re-release of an earlier edition that has an absolutely GORGEOUS new cover and it's been expanded a bit from the original version. I read that one and really liked it, but reading it through again, I loved it. Charles and James hit all of my buttons ... and some I didn't even know I had.

James is a nineteen year old college student. His father has recently passed away, his mother has cut him off, and he's working in a men's store selling fine suits, shirts, and ties. He's gay, but not out, and is struggling to make ends meet after a lifetime of wealth and privilege. But he's surviving, no matter that he's still reeling from the death of his father who he misses desperately. His life is turned upside down when a man walks into the store late one night. Charles is commanding, a charismatic presence and James is immediately drawn to him. Charles wants James from the very first moment, and James, though young and inexperienced, is not one to just to surrender from a heated glaze and dirty words. I loved the chemistry between these two. It's intense and sizzling ... and I believed it. I loved how strong James is, and though he hasn't admitted to anyone the darker desires he keeps hidden in his heart, he's unafraid of them.

This is a short book, so there's not a lot of back story or time for much build-up. I would have loved for more information about Charles, more of James's relationship with his father, and more of why there is the cold animosity from James's mother, but that doesn't mean that I didn't completely get sucked into Say Yes, because I did. There is something so strong and appealing about James and Charles that just gripped me from the first page. The writing is crisp and sharp, the pace lightning quick and the sex ... oh boy, it's hot and intense. James's witty humor and sarcasm is fun and Charles with his dry tone just made me smile. I can't wait to see what comes next for these two so if you haven't checked out Say Yes yet, make sure you correct that ASAP!

Interview

Let’s talk about your writing process. From beginning to end what’s it like for you?

My process is all over the place. It ends up being different for each book. Some books I write start to finish, and others I write out of order. Some books I write really fast, and then others like Clouded Hell and Bound Five took me months. I think each book is a different journey so my writing process is different.

You have added chapters to Say Yes. Can you tell readers who read the first edition what they can expect?

I think the added chapters really round out the end of the story, and then give some bonus insight into life after the resolution, and some more fun.

What made you add on to Say Yes?

I wanted to give the readers more at the end of the book. A glimpse of James’ training starting.

Can you tell us what you are currently working on or future projects?

I am working on a couple of things. Bound Five is with my betas, I have a new book due out in September, and the sequel to Say Yes.

What is the easiest and hardest part about publishing a book?

For me finishing a book is always the hardest. The last 10 to 15k always drags for me. The easiest part for me is starting. I love writing new things. I love world building, and I love fleshing out characters.

Of all the characters you’ve written which one resonates with you?

Funny enough, different characters resonate with me depending on my mood. I put a little part of myself into most of my characters, but overall I think it’s a tie between James and Steve.

Excerpt

He took another few breaths then walked back toward the changing rooms. “Let me know if there is anything else you
need.” James was proud of how even his voice sounded. He would get Charles out of here and then go home to gay porn and cold showers. He had three more years at least, and he had to find a few ounces of self-control to make it through.
“I could use some help.”
“Sure.” James put a smile on his face and came around the corner again to find Charles leaning back against the mirrors with the dress shirt he wore unbuttoned, showing off his cut chest. James followed it down to where Charles gripped himself through his slacks.
“Want to help?”
James swallowed hard.

Author Bio:

When not staying up all night writing, J.R. Gray can be found at the gym where it's half assumed he is a permanent resident to fulfill his self-inflicted masochism. A dominant and a pilot, Gray finds it hard to be in the passenger seat of any car. He frequently interrupts real life, including normal sleep patterns and conversations, to jot down notes or plot bunnies. Commas are the bane of his existence even though it's been fully acknowledged they are necessary, they continue to baffle and bewilder. If Gray wasn't writing…well, that's not possible. The buildup of untold stories would haunt Gray into an early grave, insanity or both. The idea of haunting has always appealed to him. J.R. Gray is genderqueer and prefers he/him pronouns.
