Statement from Diverse Reader in Regard to Covid-19

Hello, everyone. I hope all who are reading this are doing well. I hope your loved ones are too. It's a very scary time and so many of us feel lost. The Diverse Reader family extends it's love and support during this time and want to make sure we're here for you.

We are trying our best to keep up with the schedule of reviews but alas we are a bit scattered.  I will reach out to authors, PA's, publishers, and promo companies with these issues. Some post dates may be later than promised and for that I apologize.

Something will post on the blog daily do not worry but it will be a readjustment of sorts. I thank you for your understanding. If you have any questions do not hesitate to contact me at diversereader@yahoo.com

Be safe, everyone <3

Diverse Reader: 2020

A new year and a new decade has begun. 2019 had it's ups and downs and romancelandia has had it's share of fires. The LGBTQA+ will persevere because we always do. I try to take a moment at the beginning of every new year to wash away the negativity of the year before. Start new, be true to myself, and follow that moral compass. Sure, it's not always going in the same direction as other people's but the earth is round and I feel that when we go different ways we will eventually meet back up again.

Diverse Reader had an exciting year. So many books, guest posts, tours, reviews, promotional posts, cover reveals, and giveaways. We took on a new reviewer at the beginning of 2019 (Sammy) and at the end of 2019 we bid farewell to another (Racheal) It's all about balance, right? In 2020 we are greeting another new reviewer Nikki into the fold and are excited to read her thoughts on the books that are submitted to us.

New things happening on the blog: Every three months a new form will go up for authors to sign up to do a guest post on the blog. I still have the January-March one up though January and  most of February are filled at this time. Toward the end of March a new one will go up. You can find that form here: https://forms.gle/99ThEUGGefPamg4s8

Also, I will be changing the information on the contact tab as well to make it easier for authors to submit books to the blog. There will be another form if you'd like to do something else on the blog other than a review. This should be going up next week sometime.

Information about advertising on Diverse Reader is under the advertising tab on the page. There is no availability in tier one for the year as it's been booked up. But the other tiers have some availability so if you're interested be sure to check it out.

I hope 2020 will be an wonderful year for us all. I wish everyone happiness, health, and all the books!

What's Happening To Diverse Reader in 2019

Before anyone panics, no we are not closing our doors. I have been getting asked that a lot lately but no we aren't shutting down. However, there are some changes coming.

First, and likely the biggest is I (Meredith) will be stepping down from reviewing on the blog. It takes a lot of time to construct a week's worth of posts and just my putting it all together, organizing, arc distribution, and communications it's a lot of hours. I was running out of time and unable to commit to personally reviewing. Add to that my own writing, being a mom, and other commitments I've taken on, there was no energy left at the end of the day. So as of January 1, 2019 I won't be posting reviews.

Erin, Morningstar, Jenn, Michael, Truus, and Racheal will be AND we have taken on a new reviewer we are so excited about, Sammy Goode. My leaving from reviewing left an opening and I am thrilled to have her on board!

Also, the blog will be doing a lot of focusing on more than the review aspect. Readers are asking to get to know authors more and through 2019 we are going to have lots of guest posts, spotlights, and insights into the grand masters behind their books.

I, along with the rest of us, look forward to a wonderful 2019. And don't forget to watch for the TOP PICKS of 2018 coming in January as well.

Thank you all <3 Happy Holidays and Happy New Year.

Spotlight from Meredith King: Realizing A Dream ~Guest Post #Giveaway

I have talked about this a lot; so many of you know that I have my debut novel coming out HOPEFULLY at the end of November. I leave that to the editing Gods.

(If you have no idea what I'm talking about it's called Snow Falling under my pen name Davidson King)

This is a huge thing for me. Anyone who has ever released a book understands this accomplishment. Hell, anyone who has ever worked their ass off for anything and gotten it understands.

I’ve explained how I was told for years from counselors and teachers that something of this magnitude just wasn’t achievable for me. If you know me then you know if I’m told I can’t, then I do.

Why am I talking about this? What’s my point?

On the other side of this dream is my everyday love, my blog Diverse Reader. This is something I am not only ridiculously proud of but recognize it’s grown into something I never believed possible. Almost four years later I see what it means to the LGBTQA+ community. I pride myself on the slogan it stands for: Celebrating books, love, and community. Diverse Reader is a beacon. One of many in this thriving community and I know it will continue to grow for a long time.

I’ve talked about this in length, so what’s one more time right? Authors reviewing. I honestly STILL have zero issue with that. I hope many authors read my book (s) and review. We learn from others and that means our peers/colleagues as well. Originally, in one of my Facebook live videos, I stated I would continue to review on Diverse Reader. I have received support and I have also received resistance on this front. So what’s the call I’m going to make?

I am not 100% sure. But here’s what I do know. In a month’s time, give or take, I will fulfill a dream that I denied for years. What I want more than anything is to be allowed to enjoy that. THIS moment. I want to sit back and cry over this. Not because I’m sad but because I flippin’ did it! It has not been easy. It’s one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done and I truly loved every second of it. If this book doesn’t do well I’m still going to write because I HAVE to.

A decision will have to be made and it will be made. I ask you to trust me on this. I can say that I have review commitments until the end of November that I will absolutely keep but I, personally, have not signed on to review any in December because I will take this VERY seriously.

If I choose to step down from the reviewing aspect of the blog I will take on more reviewers to join our rainbow family. I will always be the owner, I will continue to do promotion, excerpts, mass giveaways, all the fun but if I choose to step down it will just be from reviewing.

I can’t ignore the fact I am the OWNER of this blog. I can’t ignore I am stepping into the other side of that and questions of bias and favoritism is a serious issue discussed and I am absolutely hearing you and will take this seriously.

Understand that.

I am simply asking this; let me have this moment. That’s all. Let me celebrate this without judgment. That’s all I ask.
Thank you.

I want you all to help me celebrate this time so of course in Diverse Reader tradition there is a giveaway lol.
