Synopsis

They call him Marrex the Monster.

Deformed and wretched, Captain Marrex roams the black of space with only a pair of eccentric AIs for company. The curse in his DNA means a long, bitterly lonely life for the Ghelyxian, and it’s a fate Marrex knows he can’t change.

After a long sleep in stasis, Juniper Bo wakes to discover he’s an unwelcome guest aboard Captain Marrex’s ship. Though he tries to stay away from the surly Ghelyxian, he just doesn’t get why the curse is such a big deal—then again, Juniper knows his tastes are rather… unusual for a Human.

When friendship blooms between Marrex and Juniper, they realize they face a future that neither could have predicted in their wildest dreams.

Review

Loved this story... hard...

Juniper, a human from Terra Deux, is awakened after 17 T years by S1N and VAL.
Their grumpy Captain Marrex, a Ghelyxian, didn't want to wake him (yet), he didn't know what or who was in the stasis pod they saved.

Marrex is cursed... abandoned. He didn't find his mate at the time he should have. Floating in his ship with just S1N and VAL (the ship's computer) by his side, through the darkest sides of the galaxy... for over a hundred years ...His features are not how they’re supposed to be. He has extra horns and his claws are long, his red fur isn't how it was originally. Through his eyes, he is an ugly beast. Therefore he is grumpy and rude, especially to his new guest Juniper. He will not show his gentle vulnerable side to anyone. Ha!

Juniper is the most beautiful human Marrex has ever seen in his life, an angel so opposite from himself. Only Juniper doesn't see an ugly beast. He sees right through him, and with his sweet honest behavior and his beautiful features he is totally disarming to Marrex

When Juniper’s personality vaporized Marrex’s wall... it's not only his wall what comes down!

No road is without a bulge, there are some family problems that take Juniper away from big Marrex for a while. Without Juniper, Marrex is just a shell without a purpose and no faith in the future. Thank god Juniper’s confidence is stronger than his.

Wonderful creatures in a sexy romantic sci-fi environment with a lot of magical stardust.
Delicious read with endearing fluffy humor, hot encounters, love and much more.

This is written in a smooth vivid way, steady pacing and awesomely animated....as if I was watching a movie...I couldn't get enough of it. I read it twice in a row. So all the glittering stars!

Synopsis

Themes: age gap, daddy kink

With middle-age looming, Greg offsets his boring day job with what truly feeds his soul: photography. The camera is an extension of himself where he exposes his passion for the intersect of pleasure and pain. However, the lens also acts as a barrier, protecting his subjects from the shameful mistakes of his past, and Greg is left isolated and lonely.

Emyr stands on the cusp of fame, but adulation and abuse are both eroding his confidence, and one night, at the river’s edge, he seeks solace in the rain, hoping to hide his tears.
The photographer and the virgin rock star share an accidental connection on that dark, drizzly night. When Greg invites Emyr back to his hotel room, no strings attached, the young man should have bolted. Instead, an odd sense of trust allows him to follow Greg’s lead.

When the camera comes out, Emyr learns the stage isn’t the only place he loves to perform as Greg touches something inside him that rarely awakens. Faced with a beautiful, talented boy whose soul is as lonely as his own, will Greg be able to face his past and come to terms with it, or will he run from the connection he so desperately desires?

Review

Bey Deckard is a new to me author (always a scary thing to try!) but when I read a blurb that mentions age gap PLUS daddy kink? Well, I knew this was a book I had to check out. Throw in a bad boy rock star and I was all in from the word go. Exposed is a sweet love story with some kink mixed in to spice it up, and I was thoroughly entertained from beginning to end. Greg and Emyr were such engaging, complex characters who are both a little broken and cross paths one rainy evening in London. Neither imagines the romance that would develop from a spur of the moment invitation from Greg to Emry to come up to his hotel room for a beer, but what follows is a deep and true love.

From the very first interaction you can feel the connection between these two. They open up in ways they've never done before and once Greg has Emyr sighted through his camera lens, well, things get interesting, quick. I really like what Bey did with the camera and the questions ... and how it connected so perfectly to the title. While Greg is photographing Emyr, Emyr is more exposed than he's ever been in his young life. He opens himself up, not just by being naked, but with his honesty. It was quite intimate and very moving. Yes there is a rather large age difference between Greg and Emyr--more than 20 years--but don't let that scare you. Don't let the mention of daddy kink scare you either. The kink aspect of the book is on the light side, and with the exception of Emyr calling Greg "Daddy", the sex scenes are more erotic and romantic than hardcore.

The writing is strong, the plot moved along nicely, and yeah, and the sex scenes were very intense (and thankfully didn't overpower the overall story line!). There are some really strong secondary characters like Greg's friend, Tam, and Emyr's "Uncle" Barrie. If you're looking for dirty daddy kink, you really won't find that in Exposed. But if you're looking for a book that's erotic and romantic with characters that are well developed and a plot that will keep you engaged, then Bey Deckard's Exposed is what you need. I'll definitely be reading more of this author's books so do yourselves a favor and check him out if you haven't already!

Review by Meredith

Synopsis

Following the Prentish/Nemarri war, Kes is rejected by his homeland under the guise of religious purity laws. Though he's spared execution, the proud Nemarri's fate is only marginally more merciful than death when he is sold into sexual slavery at a prosperous pleasure house.

Despite his stoic endurance, Kes knows he’s reaching his breaking point, but there is nothing he can do—there is no path to freedom in the Holy Prentish Empire, only a lifetime of humiliating servitude.

That is, until a beautiful young slave and his formidable master approach Kes in the marketplace and make an astonishing offer to take him home with them. The only problem: “home” is the accursed Horthmont Castle from the scare-stories of Kes’s childhood.

Thrown into a world of living myth, powerful magic, and ancient gods, Kes learns the secrets kept hidden by Horthmont’s thick blackstone walls. There he discovers something he thought he’d never know again: hope for the future.

Review

What a story. This story is full of enchantment, mystery, magic, love, and vengeance. There’s tiers to this tale. I’m struggling with where to begin lol.

It’s set on a time that never existed. A Realm. We are in this Realms present time but to tell this story properly and with little confusion, stories are told within. In those stories we go back in time. It’s done in a way that it isn’t so much flash backs (which are annoying) it’s literally like story time. Listening to tales of a time that once was. I really ate it up and found it not only fascinating but vital to the story.

Kestrel’s “past” it’s horrible. There’s literally no joy in his life until one day in a marketplace a red headed warder felt the pull. I can’t say more to that meeting without spoiling it. Talon is magic. Not potions and dust he’s more than that and as we follow Kestrel and Talon through this story, it expands. Their love and the magic that entwines them to Grim.

Grim…. Such an interesting character. Now, I don’t know if this series will take us on a different direction so I apologize if this changes. Grim seems to be an Asexual character in this story. He loves two men but lives an Asexual lifestyle. This was fascinating to me. To see these 3 interact, to work, to love. It was stunning how they loved inside and out and in a way that was just them.

We have a war on the horizon. Shape shifting troubles, Gods! We have so much. I’m really hoping there is more to this series because Bey Deckard, though sealed this story up beautifully, has left it open for more fantastical storytelling.

There’s darkness in this story which Bey has mastered brilliantly. This is a fight for what’s right for bringing back a time once good but not great. Taking the past, and what we’ve learned as humans, animals, and enchanting creatures and making a better future.

This is a breathtaking story one that should absolutely be read and adored!

Saturday Author Spotlight: Bey Deckard #Interview #Giveaway

My author this Saturday has written some outstanding books, Better the Devil You Know, Baal's Heart Series, The Actor's Circle Series, and many more. He's ridiculously talented and wicked creative. He's one to read and if you haven't had the chance, maybe after this post you'll be excited to.
We will take a look at some of Bey's books, do an interview, and end it with a giveaway to win a signed copy of Better the Devil You Know! So, let's get started...

Byron is tall, handsome, well spoken, wealthy, and has outstanding taste in wine and food. You’ll be impressed by his impeccable attire and eloquence in conversation, ranging from Baroque art to the newest advances in pharmacology. With his charming smile and elegant manners, Byron truly is the perfect date… and who doesn’t love a man who appreciates opera?

What’s the catch, you ask?

Just this: if Byron finds you suitable, he will subject you to utterly depraved forms of torture.

No, I’m not talking about S&M.

Byron will mutilate, rape, and then kill you. Don’t think that you will survive the encounter, because you won’t. He has a perfect record.

Intrigued? Would you like me to arrange a rendezvous? It has to be in the next few days because he’s leaving on a trip south to much warmer climes, and his calendar will be completely full.

Yes? Very good. I will make a reservation for two under the name of Smith.

Who am I? I’m Gloria, his personal assistant.

Sheltered and lonely, Jon's life changes drastically when a strange ship sails into the harbour of his small port town one day. Trapped between the possessive pirate captain and his murderous first mate, he must learn to adapt or he will lose himself completely. An epic tale of love, treachery and revelation, this first instalment of the Baal's Heart trilogy brings you into the lives of three men so bound together by jealousy and lies that they must sail to the very ends of the earth to find forgiveness.

Deckard's first novel is a masterful portrayal of sorrow, hope, and passion, with a narrative that twists the reader through an alternate world set in the Golden Age of Piracy. A thrilling look into the darker side of human nature, Caged effortlessly melds serious historical fantasy with five star erotica.

Themes: Erotica, Historical Fantasy, Ménage, Enemies to Lovers, M/M Romance

Sometimes it’s just about being in the right place at the right time… with the right person.

Sarge is the short story of a burgeoning D/s relationship between two Space Marines stationed on an alien planet where an endless war drags on.

Sergeant Wilkes is a hard man with a long, celebrated military career.

Brawny, tattooed, and utterly submissive, Murphy is just an interesting diversion… until Sarge realizes he has found something truly rare.

 Interview

Thank you, Bey, for being here today. You are a new to me author and after reading Better the Devil You Know I have to say you’ve captured my attention. I’d love to ask you a few questions, chit chat with you a bit.

Thank you for having me! I’m always up for a chat. :)

When I was in college I took Forensic Psychology, Criminal Justice, Personality, and I read many profiles and reports on some seriously notorious Serial Killers. But this Byron of yours. He’s a special flower. LOL. What made you delve into the mind of a serial killer to write this book?

Ah, forensic psychology. I considered going into it back in university. Serial killers intrigue me—most of my favourite movie/TV characters are psychopaths and/or serial killers. I find it interesting that there is this urge in fiction to redeem those characters in such a way that makes it “ok” for us to like them, like suffering child abuse or witnessing traumatic events, or following some sort of code (kill only the bad guys!), or mental illness.

I guess Byron would fall under the last one. Certainly, psychologists would see it that way, and things were done to him in his past that failed “correct” him. He’s interesting (to me) because he’s an equal-opportunity killer. He’s not murdering anyone because of their skin colour, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ethnic background… he’s killing them because it quite simply brings him joy. Because of that… well, he’s utterly irredeemable.

Then we have Lucifer. And a Hell like nothing I ever imagined. I don’t want to give anything away but do you see Hell a certain way in your mind? Maybe you don’t even believe in Hell for all I know lol.

I don’t believe in Hell. But I don’t not believe in it either. I was raised entirely without religion so I have a hard time taking anyone’s word for what exists or what doesn’t. How would someone know? A person can point to a passage in a religious book and say “this is real” and I can turn around and point to a passage in a Sandman comic and ask “why is this not real?”. So… I have odd views about religion in general.

The Hell in Better the Devil You Know is… well… parts of it are pretty hellish to me. I mean, I’m not bothered by gore and have a torture fascination… it’s the other parts that would get to me. Luce and I abhor bureaucracy. ;)

I feel a great tagline for you, with your books, is expect the unexpected but if you could give yourself one what would it be?

Oh that’s good (thanks!). Um. Hm. I don’t know. I never really thought about it. How about… “You will be given ample time to eat but no loitering will be permitted.” Sorry, wait, that’s from section #33 of the Alcatraz Inmate Rules & Regulations.

How embarrassing. A writer who can’t write a tagline… What about… “Relax, it’s only fiction.” No?

I give up. I’ll go with yours. :)

Do read the sorts of books you write, or are you a complete opposite writer?

I’ve read books by some of the amazing authors I’ve met on Facebook or Goodreads over the last two years—fantastic novels by Joseph Lance Tonlet, Brad Vance, Jack L. Pyke, Varian Krylov, Dan Skinner—but normally I don’t go in for books that have overly romantic or erotic elements to them. I read a lot of sci-fi and fantasy. Graphic novels and comic books. Non-fiction. I’m lucky because I have some really great fans who hone in on what I like and suggest interesting books to me (like The Devil in the White City: Murder, Magic, and Madness at the Fair that Changed America by Erik Larson which I’m currently reading). It just dawned on me recently that it’s not so much that I’m bad at getting any reading in while writing, it’s that I’m really bad at reading fiction while writing, which really bites right now because I have two books (Backlash by Pyke and Strength in Numbers by Vance) burning holes in my Kindle that I’m dying to read… but I’m behind schedule on the book I’m writing and I need to stick with it.

If you could bring any of your fictional characters to life for one day. Who would it be and what would you do?

Hoo boy. Well… Tom from my Baal’s Heart series would be my first choice. We’d probably go get raging drunk at a pub trying to outdo each other.

Can you tell us what you are currently working on?

A fantasy novel called Kestrel’s Talon. It’s about a sex slave who gets purchased by… well, hm… It’s hard to explain. I’m notorious for giving almost nothing away about my books. Suffice it to say it has unconventional relationships. Um. Magic. Castles? A dog named “Pants.” I’m over the halfway mark and I’m hoping to publish it in April.

If anyone of your books could become a major motion picture which would you love to see up there and who would you cast?

Definitely my Baal’s Heart books (and you’d have to do a little time travelling to get some of it right, like age and sexual identity, and of course make-up/wigs/hair dye/contact lenses for some…)

Baltsaros: Mads Mikkelsen
Tom: Tom Hardy
Jon: Kit Harrington
Kat: Lucy Liu
Maya: Eve Hewson
Callum: Bill Cobb
Malik: Naveen Andrews
Nathaniel: Scott Thompson
Abetha: Cate Blanchett
Ceara: Deborah Ann Woll
Emperor Ah’Puch: Zachary Quinto (yes really)
Saban: Idris Elba
Oren: Andrej Pejić (now Andreja)
Polas: Maz Jobrani
Sister Iezabel: Tilda Swanson

…and a whole bunch more.

How do you celebrate a book release?

Buy a nice bottle of wine or whiskey. Take the night off and chat with fans. Watch a movie. Basically chill out :)
