Synopsis

Paul and Hamish are at it and at each other, again in the third installment of A.J. Llewellyn and D.J. Manly’s best-selling BDSM Voyages series. Paul and Hamish may be married but that doesn’t mean their sex life has to be a snore fest. These guys always give each other exactly what they need when they can find time in their busy lives. In between feeding Hamish’s ravenous, pregnant sister, and negotiating relationships with deadbeat, rock star fathers, the lovers are always looking for ways to spice things up. This time, overworked Paul is in for it when Hamish decides to take him on a special retreat that involves a yurt, a Peruvian shaman, and some noxious liquid that wipes out all limits to the imagination. Independence Day never saw anything like this coming!

Excerpt

I walked out of the plant at two in the morning. It was at this point that I permitted myself to feel it. I was dead tired and it was chilly. I regretted not bringing a jacket but then I hadn’t expected it to take so damn long, or for the night to turn cold. I had to keep reminding myself that for a coastal state, California was desert. Outside, I put up the top of the convertible and texted the office with a reminder to bill the plant and also make a report in the morning. When I pulled up into our driveway, I turned off the engine and closed my eyes. I almost fell asleep there. I think I would have if not for who I knew was waiting for me inside. Although, I was pretty sure Hamish had conked out at this hour. With all the energy I had left, I walked up to the door and put the key in the lock. Thankfully, Hamish had left the alarm off. I walked inside, locked the door and set the alarm. As I climbed the stairs I noticed a light on in the master bedroom. Hamish sometimes fell asleep reading so I tried to be quiet anyway as I crept in. I paused, my brow wrinkling as I heard a low buzzing sound coming from the bed. My eyes widened when I saw Hamish lying flat on his back with his slave collar on. He’d attached the collar’s chain to the bed post. Two other chains with nipple clamps lay on his chest. I guess he expected me to do the honors by installing those. I smiled as I came around to the bottom of the bed. Both his legs were raised and spread wide in the air, resting on leather stirrups we’d attached overhead. A rather large vibrating butt plug protruded from his ass, and his cock was strapped nicely with a studded leather cuff. “Your hands are free,” I said, my cock stiffening as I slowly ran my gaze over him. He smiled. “I can fight if you try anything I don’t like.” Hamish used to be a boxer. No one messed with him unless he wanted it. Right now, he wanted it…badly. “So you’ve been busy.” “You told me to stay awake, remember?” “All this for me,” I said, straddling his waist and grabbing both wrists. He was breathing hard as he looked up at me. I wasn’t so tired anymore. I reached over to get the padded cuffs we had tucked behind the bed. I brought up one and attached his wrist. Hamish made quite a show of struggling. I attached the other cuff and leaned back. “My, my, all mine to play with.” “I’ll scream,” he threatened with that gleam in his eyes. “A stranger coming into my house to have his way with me. If I make a lot of noise,” Hamish explained, “the police will come.” “Not if they can’t hear you, they won’t,” I whispered.

Manly addresses BDSM in Disciplining Baron, and the two authors join forces for the paranormal title story Love off the Radar. Which will kill Mo Dingley first? Love, or a curse? Speaking of curses, Have you ever read the personal journals of a werewolf, or a vampire? Now's your chance! We've also got two very different love stories set in the time of Atlantis, and the sad but sweet Clean Monday, a coming-out story with a surprising hero. There are sexy, spicy tales involving zombies, where boys meet boys and almost…eat them. We have it all because love is love, and can't always be wrapped up in a neat little bow.

Excerpt

From the title story Love off the Radar: Mo should have suspected the universe was about to hose him when he arrived at the office and found the receptionist sniveling over her laptop. He'd assumed she was having some personal crisis. He felt a little guilty now that he'd uttered a brusque "Good morning" and had walked right by her. When Jonathan Sampson personally buzzed Mo and invited him into the conference room for coffee, he'd assumed—again, stupidly—that he was about to be given a raise. He'd played the imaginary conversation in his mind as he quickly combed his thick, sandy-colored hair, straightened his bolo tie, and had run his fingertips over his unruly eyebrows. He'd walked in, full of smiles, hoping to be commended for the brilliant job he'd done designing and overseeing a synagogue completely built out of recycled materials and powered by solar energy. It had appeared on the evening news, and Architectural Digest was featuring it next month. Mo suspected that the big-bucks job hadn't impressed Buckley and Sampson because the synagogue was a GLBT one. And gay didn't go down too well in the company, even though their lone gay architect had, in three short months, brought them almost four million dollars in revenue. No. What he got was a year in fingle-fangled Japan. It beat his last job where he'd spent a year in Kentucky designing the same ergonomic office spaces over and over again. Mo stared into his still full cup of coffee, prepared for him by the sniveling receptionist. He wondered if she'd wept into his cup. "Well?" Sampson asked. "May I think it over tonight?" Mr. Sampson looked disappointed. "I'll give you twenty-four hours. You'll need to leave by Monday." Mo swallowed. Hard. "What about the accounts I'm working on?" Mr. Sampson couldn't look at him. "We're going to hand them over to some of our junior executives." "But those are my accounts. My relationships brought in those deals." Asshole. I just figured it out. They used me to get the contracts, now their straight account executives are going to complete the projects. They'll never do the job I could do. He left the office for the meeting he'd scheduled with the rabbi. He adjusted his black Stetson on his head, straightened his bolo tie and used a bristle brush to clean his black suit. Not that he needed it. It was always good to make sure though. Sometimes when he morphed back into human form, he forgot himself and wolf hairs stuck to him. Damned curse. He stared down at his black cowboy boots. He'd come to California with three pair and these were his favorite, lucky boots. Well, they weren't so lucky this morning. Mo drove to West Hollywood in a daze, trying to imagine not being here anymore. He was surprised when he hit the turnoff on the ten for La Cienega Boulevard and headed south. On Pico, he found street parking and almost didn't pay for the meter. Just out of spite. But it would be just his luck if a parking ticket haunted him across the Pacific. He slid his credit card into the meter, paid for two hours, not that he thought he'd need it, then stood back to survey his golden beauty. From the outside, the synagogue looked very utilitarian. Inside, it was cozy, temperate, and gorgeous. As he strode into the building, he admired once again the carpet that had been fashioned by his ex-lover, Andrew, out of recycled jeans. Each and every item used in the construction of the Temple Ruth Center had been a labor of love for Mo, and the artisans he'd brought in to help him with the project. Though not Jewish, he admired the rabbi, Beth Cohen, and the synagogue's motto of ikkun olan (repair the world). He believed in beautiful spaces. He believed in being responsible and being accountable. Even as he shook the rabbi's hand and greeted the reporter from Architectural Digest, he knew his time in LA was short. He could sniff it out, like a coming Santa Ana wind and knew. Mo Dingley was going to Japan. He slept badly, falling into a restless snooze on the sofa whilst watching a design program on HGTV. He awoke to canned laughter and raised his head from the cushions tucked under his arm. Somehow he'd rolled over onto the remote and he'd hit an obscure cable station. An old episode of Seinfeld was playing. He'd never seen this one before, but in it, Kramer was renting out drawers in his bedroom bureau to stranded Japanese tourists. He watched as Kramer tucked them into their makeshift beds, wishing them a good night's sleep. I can't sleep in a drawer! Are beds really that small there? He hit the Internet and checked the address that Sampson had written down for him. He was astonished at how wonderful it seemed. The apartment, located in the neighborhood of Akasaka (Red Hill in English) in the Minato-ku district, was right near his new office, and two blocks from the American Embassy. According to the blogs he read, foreigners gravitated toward this area because of its international supermarkets. Almost everybody spoke English. During the day, it was a hard-working business area. At night, its restaurant and clubs ensured a busy evening, as well. Weekends, according to his research were much quieter, because the working men went to their own neighborhoods. The ancient streets featured some geisha houses, which tickled him. He wondered if there were gay ones. How far was it from the gay district? And what was it called, anyway? He checked. Shinjuku Ni-ch?me. Popularly known as Nich?. Now that looked really cool. Saunas, coffee shops, bars. Beautiful men. As long as he could escape into solitude each full moon, he'd be fine. I think I could live there. He studied the apartment building. The Akasaka Tower building was so tall it made him dizzy looking at him. This ain't no mustang ranch, sport. He took a deep breath. He was able to view an apartment via virtual tour. It looked very modern and clean, with granite countertops in the kitchen and surprisingly huge windows overlooking the city. The bedroom looked big enough. It sure beat the heck out of being unemployed. He eyed the time on his VCR/DVD player. Ten fifteen P.M. On the TV, as Jerry and Elaine acted shocked about Kramer renting the Japanese tourists his bedroom drawers, Kramer defended himself by saying, "Have you ever seen the business hotels in Tokyo? They sleep in tiny stacked cubicles all the time! They feel right at home!" He sighed at the racist overtones to the plotline. Maybe this was his opportunity to offer his input into ikkun olan. Maybe he could help in some way make a contribution to repairing the world. Mo picked up the phone and called Jonathan Sampson. He wasn't surprised when the man answered. "I'm in," was all Mo said. And then he started to pack.

Excerpt

Summer held its grip on the city, even though it was November and the Christmas crush had started. Every hour on the hour, the song Let it Snow played on the piped music system of the Grove at Farmer’s Market. Fake snow fell from strategic spots on roofs and lampposts. It was so goofy when the weather was so unseasonably warm. Lucky laughed as fake snowdrops landed on my cheeks. This outdoor complex, less than a mile from our house, was our go-to place and we loved it. We liked the fish family, as we always called them. We could never decide on the daily specials because everything was wonderful and dirt cheap. The waitresses laughed with Lucky. Their hopeful stares faltered as he brushed white flakes from my nose and kissed me. There was no mistaking we were lovers. I veered between wanting people to know he was mine and keeping a safe, respectable appearance. Stunned at the array of food they’d plied him with, I felt a wave of fury riding high in me. “They gave you Shrimp Louie?” I asked, feeling a stab of jealousy. “Fat free dressing,” he said. I laughed. “My baby inhales French fries but likes fat free dressing.” “Of course. You know I pick my carbs. Say, let’s finish this. I smell the caramel corn popping.” We ate in silence. We never ran out of things to talk about. It was our first awkward moment together. Ever. It took me by surprise because we never stopped moving our lips. They were either on each other’s mouths, asses, or cocks, arranged around food or great conversation. But we sat, both so quiet, the weight of truth hanging like a steel wrecking ball between us. He decided to kick the ball. “Jack, it’s only a few weeks. We’ll be together for Thanksgiving, one way or another.” “Fuck. It sucks.” “Yeah, it sucks. But think how much fun we’re gonna have when we meet up again.” “Shut up,” I said and he laughed. He took my hand. “Popcorn calls.” We pushed through the lunchtime crowd and bought a bag of it, still warm from the pot. We sampled some fresh coconut corn and bought a pound of that too. We loaded up on slices of fresh butter toffee after tasting tons of different blends. We couldn’t agree on the peppermint bark and chose candy cane bark instead. We snapped up miniature kiwi fruit and persimmons at the fruit stall. I was validating the parking ticket when I saw him open his cell phone. “It’s time,” he told me. “They’re ready to roll.” We went home to our little studio guest house in back of a Pepto Bismol pink duplex on Havenhurst Drive. When I first met him, Lucky had a gorgeous house in the Larchmont district. It was an elaborate prop, part of his undercover disguise as a Mafioso. Now he was on to another secret assignment and I would still be here, working with my own team. There would always be busts, there would always be separations, but this was the first. He put his hand on my thigh as we waited for a light on the corner of Melrose. “It fucking blows monkey chunks, Jack.” “Yeah. It does.” He stared straight ahead. “I’m going to ask you once and lie to me if you have to, but can you be faithful? Please tell me you won’t fuck anyone else. Please…just don’t do it.” “I won’t.” I don’t think.

TITLE: A Wizard in Waikiki

AUTHOR: A.J. Llewellyn

PUBLISHER: Ai Press

COVER ARTIST: Sid Love

LENGTH: 62 Pages

RELEASE DATE: April 25, 2016

BLURB: Summoned from the past, Konu rises naked from the sea to reclaim his power for the freedom to live—and love. If the forces of evil don’t get to him first!

On a hot day in Waikiki, beachgoers are stunned when a tall, handsome man rises from the ocean. Striding naked to a small, ringed enclosure containing four huge stones most tourists never even notice, he becomes visibly upset. These are Wizard Stones, positioned between the beach and the foot traffic on Kalakaua Avenue. Konu, the naked man, is agitated by a young Asian girl draping her beach towel over the stones. He's come a long way, from Tahiti, and is one of the ancient wizards whose power was infused into these sacred stones four hundred years ago.

With the invisible battle between good and evil raging, Konu has been dispatched to help balance the power. Landing in modern-day Waikiki, he's stunned by the changes – and to find he is alone. A cop tries to arrest him for indecent exposure but the young girl's grandfather – who thinks Konu's a homeless lunatic offers him refuge. Will the ancient forces of evil beat this wizard in Waikiki? Or can Konu find his power again, and perhaps…even love?

Publisher’s note: This book was previously published. It has been edited and re-released with Ai Press.

 Excerpt

He rose from the cold, dark depths of the ocean, pain and fear eating at him as his human form slowly molded and emerged, begging for air. Precious, sweet air. He needed to breathe. As he stumbled onto the hot sand at last, the heat seared his feet, but the pain in his body vanished as he took deep, gulping breaths. His human form was so astonishing, it struck him as being perfect, even though his feet hurt.

It wasn't ego. He had been forbidden to enjoy his physical, earthly body for five hundred years.

I am alive. I am human. I am here!

He longed to stand and just… be, to absorb the moment he'd waited for, but Konu sensed the stares of people at the beach. His long, wet black hair clung to his face and shoulders as his gaze took in the mass of bodies… the colorful strips of fabric they wore. He had come a long way. Under cover of darkness, using only the stars for guidance, Konu arrived at the place they called Waikiki. Now, in the late afternoon light, his strength sapped, he'd been forced to leave the sanctity of the sea. He'd tried to wait for night, but he was tired… so tired.

For five hundred years, his soul and those of the four sorcerers he'd worked with, watched and waited.

In the distance, at the edges of the sand, he saw the flash of large beasts… loud sounds, flickering tiki torches, the flashes of smiles. He heard laughter and the jarring sound of a dozen different languages. Then he saw them. All of the sights and sounds stilled. His heart gave a lurch at the sight of the stones.

His stones.

Konu flushed with anger as a woman draped a thick, brightly colored towel over the iron gate and onto one of the four boulders representing the sacred mana of the ancient, fifteenth century wizards—Kapaemahu, Kahaloa, Kapuni and… Kinohi, Konu's grandfather. Konu had been the fifth wizard, the sacred protector of the stones… until he'd been banished.

“Hey!” the woman shouted as he pulled her wet towel from the iron gate surrounding the stones and tossed it onto the ground.

The word Aloha flashed up at him from the pooled fabric.

Konu narrowed his eyes as his gaze shifted to the woman. Was she the sign he'd been seeking?

He reached in through the bars to touch the boulders. It wasn't easy. The gate kept a distance between the stones and prying human hands. He glanced at the white pigeons sitting vigil on the rocks. The tiny bird heads turned in his direction. These miniature keepers of the fire looked as exhausted as he felt. They were dirty, unkempt, very sick birds. Konu read their energies. His mind flashed on mass, migratory deaths. These were the survivors. They had flocked to the stones as creatures in trouble always had. They needed his help.

The gate had a small lock that in his normal strength, he could have removed, but he was weakened by the journey. He was relieved that the four wizard stones seemed intact. His heart almost broke at the sight of one very scrawny bird that looked near death as it lay on his grandfather's rock. The bird kept pecking at itself, biting at a raw wound in its wing. Konu held his hand near the bird, unable to reach it. The bird scuttled a little closer. It tucked its head under its wing and Konu worked his magic. He tried to sense if the bird wanted to live or die, but people were jostling him now, and he had to work fast.

He gave the creature life and with a flap of his hand, produced a few worms on top of the rock face. The bird gobbled quickly. The stone's supernatural power would restore the bird's fire-core. Konu grappled to touch the rock. He saw now that people had brought offerings. Purple orchid leis dangled along the gateposts. Somebody had left a shell lei, too. He gingerly stroked it. A recent addition.

Two bronze plaques stood before them. He scanned the writing. He recognized it as English. He had to retrain his mind to read the words.

The voices around him grew loud again as his hand crackled like lightning against the sensing power of the stones. Ah, magic still dwells here. He felt the separate, yet unified, energies of each wizard infused inside the stones. He took a deep breath as his hand came to the last stone, which represented his grandfather. Konu, long exiled from his family, yearned for this sincere connection with Kinohi. His hand neared the stone, but fell on a yellow lei. Ilima, flower of the gods.

He bent his head and wept.

They haven't forgotten us.

So long he'd waited and now he was here, his emotions had gotten the better of him. He gripped the iron bars for a moment, blinking away the hot tears on his face. He reached out once again, this time touching his grandfather's stone. A dim stirring from within. The mana was still there. Polluted, but it was there. Sleeping. The stone had sought to protect itself. He understood now why his family had sent him here.

The bird he'd healed stood on wobbly legs. Konu saw that one of them was broken. With another flick of his wrist, he restored the injured foot. The bird glanced at him with one beady eye, hopped to the tallest rock, and settled down to watch him.

“Fly,” Konu said, but the bird remained with its companions.

“He threw my towel down!” the woman beside him shouted. “Somebody get the police. This guy is lolo…he's crazy!”

I am so excited to be here today to talk about my book, A Wizard in Waikiki, being reissued by Ai Press. The idea for the story came to me a few years ago when I visited Honolulu and came across the stones. I was surprised to learn of their history – that they had been left by four ancient Tahitian wizards after they visited the islands three hundred years ago. They had come as healers and begged the locals not to forget them.
They left the stones infused with their power, but somehow as the years went by, the stones were rolled by hand away from their original location and left on the grounds of an old estate, which was about to be demolished. A kahuna knew the story of the stones and insisted they be given a new location and he blessed them in a ceremony.
They are on display on the beach at Waikiki but it’s astonishing to me that people still walk by them. Most don’t even notice them and it still surprises me that a lot of people in Hawaii don’t know anything about them. I’ve had some pretty unusual experiences with the stones myself and the idea came to me when I went to visit them one day…
What if one of the wizards comes back?
I did a lot of research on the four wizards and decided to create Konu, a nephew of one of the wizards who was banished to the spirit world by the ancients for being gay. When he was in the islands in the past, he had a lover, a warrior named Loho, and in the present, he is in love with a wonderful man named Jason Gamble.
Jason likes to say he got the perfect last name because he feels everything in his life is a gamble, including loving Konu.
As for Konu, he has to juggle the ancient world with the modern one. Things we take for granted are deeply confusing to him. As the series progresses, he learns he’s been sent back from the past to help people who are sick, or troubled, and to find love and accept it. He’s haunted by memories of Loho and what happened to him after Konu left, but he is determined to honor Jason, the beautiful man he now loves.
He might have special powers, but he is as human as the rest of us. Can he find the love, and the life he wants, or will he wreck it all and be banished once again?
