Review
I will admit that this book started a little slow for me
which made it hard to want to keep going. But honestly,
in the end, I’m so glad I did. I loved, loved Braden and Coll, individually but
most especially together.
Like I said the set up of Braden’s breakdown were too slow
for me and the reason for it happening was too contrived for me especially
after getting to know Braden; it seemed that it wasn’t something I could see him
letting happen. The slow pace in the beginning and a few other parts were mostly
due to the amount of detail the author put into
the environment or room they were in. In
my opinion, there was way too much, most of which didn’t help me in the story.
BUT that is certainly a personal
preference.
The other thing that kept
throwing me off, something that even in stories set in Australia, like this
one, or the UK, was the single quotes used for dialogue throughout the book.
It was hard to get used to and harder to see
when reading. It’s minor but to me,
worth mentioning.
What I loved was that this took the normal Alpha,
Beta, and Omega stereotypes and wrote a world that was still finding its way
through those preconceptions and the hurt it caused the lowest class of them...
omegas. I love the typical shifter hierarchy, but I love when authors make it
their own and find a way to make it unique as well, and Pia did that in this story.
Coll was that perfect mix between Alpha and a sweet, caring man, and he was perfect for Braden and his issues. He helped Braden so
much, step by step, to get to the point that
he could see through it all and see that what he’s always known wasn’t the
truth of it. Braden’s friend Aodhan and Hunter need a damn book, please! As little as we got of them together, I
feel that there was something there between them.
It was a well paced and written book, and I hope you give it a try because it’s worth
the time to sit and fall into Perth and Pia’s world of shifters.
