Synopsis

Jack

Leaving was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. He would have killed me if I stayed, though. I couldn’t have done it without Warwick’s help. Not only did he give me the out I needed, but also a safe place to live. With my ex looming around every corner, looking for the chance to get his hands on me, I received the best gift ever—a month in England—and I took it!

Warwick

England was supposed to help Jack get away from his ex and find himself again. I wasn’t supposed to fall in love with him there. Especially when I knew he might stay… indefinitely. With my busy schedule as an ER doctor, an ocean between us, and the trust issues his abusive ex inflicted, the chance of a successful long-distance relationship is close to zero. Loving Jack may be the one thing I can’t fix.

Review

Jack ends up in a hospital with the reason being he “fell down the stairs”  Warwick, ER doctor, doesn’t believe him and secretly gives him his card, in case he wants to get out of the abuse or has another emergency.
When there is a phone call from a very scary and broken Jack, Warwick leaves everything behind and picks up a hidden and terrified Jack.
Jack can only survive Greg when he is far far away and Warwick knows just the place for him.
Greg is one vicious, dangerous man and he will find ‘his’ Jack.
Oh my heart... watching Jack was heartbreaking.
This story, very well written, gave me all sorts of emotions. I got angry, my eyes got blurred, my heart melted and it made me desperate sometimes.
Coming from an abusive relationship is so hard... the spirit is broken just like the view on life.
To see how Jack opens up and how he and Warwick starts, though very fragile, the connection was heartwarming. Warwick, a big, strong man and not afraid of anything or anybody, has to take baby steps with Jack.
The journey stayed consistent. The timeline was perfect. The story is told from Jack and Warwick’s POV.  I loved both men, their characters were engaging, convincing, and very lovable. The family and friends all had an important place in this journey.
I just love this kind of plot with hurt, comfort, angst, progress and.... love
