Hey everyone! My name is Kate Hawthorne and I’m super excited to be here today, and before I forget, a huge thanks to Meredith for allowing me to come through :D

Worth the Chance is the fourth book in the series and it’s all about Verity Jones, who is a sassy nonbinary switch. We first meet Verity in Worth the Risk (#1), and that’s when Aaron Hoffman meets them, too. Writing Worth the Chance was a lot of fun (and hard af) because I got to trace Verity and Aaron’s story back through the first three books. It was great to show their relationship from THEIR perspective and give readers a chance to fall in love with them the way they fell in love with each other.

The Giving Consent books all have some degree of BDSM in them. I *love* a good kink book, and it’s been especially pleasurable for me to add BDSM into my books. I’m glad it’s been so well received by everyone because I know it’s not for everyone. When I was (much) younger, I worked as a pro-Domme at a popular dungeon in Los Angeles. I picked up a ton of real world experience and had my eyes opened to things I’d only read about. There is so much about kink, and the D/s dynamic especially that appeals to me, and I really try to infuse some of the nuanced things that I’ve experienced into the stories I write.

Wrapping up this series has been bittersweet, but I’m very excited to be moving onto something NEW. Up until now, all my books have taken place in Los Angeles (where I live), but we’re moving on!

Okay, I have to be honest...this is my first ever audio book. I love Andrew Grey’s Don’t Let Go book and wanted to try listening to it. I admit that it’s not for me, I just find that I enjoy reading more than listening. Saying that, I do think that narrator, Jeff Gelder does a good job. I really liked his voice for Robert, it was a very believable accent. I was able to follow along and keep track of who was speaking. 

As for the story of Avery/Robert and Hy/Zeke, it’s such a great one. These guys stole my heart! Their lives feel like a “be careful what you wish for because you just might get it” tale. Both men are hardworking, earnest, sexy, and sweet. They prove that taking a step back and the time to enjoy your life can bring you great rewards and true happiness. Andrew Grey has this way of bringing his characters to life that makes you understand exactly who these men are and I love that about his books.

I remember finding this series years ago when it first came out and falling in love with the universe it was built in. They’re short and sexy and really feel like full-length books, which makes them even better!

Wish is a pleasure planet that is nothing like any other. Kalean comes from a planet that is the opposite of everything like Wish. He’s the second son of a family all but considered royalty on Merida. They own the one resource that fuels the economy which means they own the planet. A cold and snowy environment that is harsh and unforgiving, much like his family is when it comes to his sexuality.

The meeting between Descani and Kalean was a low key but cute meet. It was no big explosion of attraction but more testing the waters type thing. I liked the open relationship concept in the story as well. It's not something often done, but for Wish and Descani as an aspasian, it made perfect sense for them.

The strife with his parents and brother was well done and made me feel a little bad for Kalean especially with the revelations that were made later on in the book. But the ending was what I saw for him from the start. Truly a good book and a quick, fun series to read!
