Synopsis

Months after his husband’s death, Garrett Blaine desperately needs a fresh start. He sells his house in Seattle, leaves his accounting job, and starts bartending in Bluewater Bay. There he meets a man who wakes up his nearly forgotten libido.

Jesse Connelly’s friend with benefits bolted after Jesse disclosed his HIV status. Stood up and stinging, Jesse tries to drown his sorrows . . . and finds an unexpected connection with a lonely bartender.

Jesse and Garrett quickly bond over a shared love of comics and card games, and they can’t get enough of each other between the sheets. Not even a bumpy start and a fifteen-year age gap can derail them as they go from strangers to lovers, then friends, then much more.

But as Garrett’s feelings for Jesse deepen, so does his grief for the man he lost—especially as he sees hints of his late husband in his new boyfriend. Now Garrett has to figure out if Jesse is his second chance at true love, or if Jesse’s just filling in for the man he’s never fully grieved. And he needs to figure it out soon, because Jesse’s starting to wonder the same thing.

Before I knew it, it was last call.
To my surprise, though, Jesse didn’t seem to be in a big hurry to take off. He took his time settling his bill, and there was still some Coke left in his glass.
As I wiped down the bar, he glanced at me. “Will your boss get mad if I hang out until you close?”
My hand stopped. “I . . . No. Of course not.” Clearing my throat, I continued mopping up the scattered crumbs and water droplets off the hardwood. “Can’t imagine it’ll be all that exciting for you.”
He smiled. “I’m pretty sure I can keep myself entertained until you’re done.”
I was tempted to ask what the plan was after that, but the words got lost in my throat. Did this mean something? Was he as interested in me as I was in him? I was afraid to ask, thinking I’d send him running. Like the moment was a flock of easily startled pigeons just waiting for a reason to fly off in a panic.
Or maybe that was just me.
“I’m, uh . . . I need to take care of a few things in the back room. Won’t be long.”
“No rush.” God. That smile.
I took the bag of trash out from under my station and ducked through the doorway that led to the kitchen and the break room. At the end of the hall, I leaned out another door to toss the bag in the dumpster. When I stepped back inside, Don was there. He glanced into the barroom, gaze landing on Jesse, and an amused expression curled his lips. “New friend, eh?”
My cheeks burned. Don’s expression was gentle, though. He wasn’t getting on my case, just playfully ribbing me. And maybe there was even something more there. After all, he knew why I’d come to Bluewater Bay.
“Um. Yes, sir.” I cleared my throat. “He’s . . .”
He clapped my shoulder. “Get out of here, Blaine. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Are you sure?”
“Go.” He nudged me toward the door. “Hailey and I can finish up here.”
Don wasn’t terribly generous with the early dismissals, so I wasn’t going to argue. I grabbed my coat and clocked out. When Jesse and I made eye contact, I nodded toward the door, and he followed me outside.
The night was cool and smelled like pine trees and saltwater, and it was a nice switch after being in the stuffy barroom for the last several hours.
“So, um.” I turned to Jesse. “Where are you parked?”
He gestured down the road. “At the end of the block.”
“You, um . . .” I hesitated. “Mind if I walk with you?” I felt stupid asking. He was the one who’d stuck around.
Jesse smiled. “Not at all.”
As we started walking, I slid my hands into the pockets of my jeans. He did the same. We both looked straight ahead, neither saying a word as our steps fell into sync. It had been a long, long time since I’d been a nervous teenager walking through the halls of my high school next to someone I’d been crushing on, frantically trying to work up the courage to say something before the bell rang, but I was pretty sure that had felt a lot like this.
My pulse was all over the place. It had also been ages since I’d made a move on anyone. Especially sober. How did we do this? And was I misreading all his signals? Or giving off the wrong ones myself?
Then Jesse cleared his throat and broke the silence. “You don’t mind me coming in every night and hanging out until you close, do you?”
“Mind?” I shook my head. “Why would I mind?”
“I don’t know.” Jesse stared at the ground and shrugged. “I just didn’t want you thinking I was stalking you or something.”
“Did it seem like I was stalking you when I showed up at the comic book store?”
His lips quirked. “No. It was . . .” He paused, and a smile came to life as he turned toward me. “It was actually really nice. Especially after the shitty day I’d been having.”
“Really? You seemed like you were in a good mood.”
“I was.” He stopped, and when our eyes locked, he whispered, “Because you were there.”
My heart skipped. I had no idea what to say. Judging by the sudden red in his cheeks, he didn’t either.
Jesse dropped his gaze and pushed his hands deeper into his pockets. “I, um . . . It was kind of a rough day. Yesterday, mostly, but I still felt like shit today.” Pulling in a deep breath, he looked at me through his lashes and offered the faintest half shrug. “Then you were there. And the day . . . didn’t suck anymore.”
“Oh.” That was all that remained of my vocabulary. I watched him, lips parted and eyes wide, not sure where to go from here.
The red in his cheeks darkened, and he cleared his throat as he rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m sorry. I’m, uh, not exactly smooth when it comes to this stuff.”
“That makes two of us. I never was good at this part.”
Our eyes locked. The air around us seemed to freeze in place. My heart slammed against my rib cage. Something about our words amped everything up. Like we’d acknowledged this wasn’t just a friendly walk to his car. That “this part” wasn’t my imagination, and something might . . . happen.

Yeah. It might happen. And I wanted it to.

About Bluewater Bay

Welcome to Bluewater Bay! This quiet little logging town on Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula has been stagnating for decades, on the verge of ghost town status. Until a television crew moves in to film Wolf’s Landing, a soon-to-be cult hit based on the wildly successful shifter novels penned by local author Hunter Easton.

Wolf’s Landing’s success spawns everything from merchandise to movie talks, and Bluewater Bay explodes into a mecca for fans and tourists alike. The locals still aren’t quite sure what to make of all this—the town is rejuvenated, but at what cost? And the Hollywood-based production crew is out of their element in this small, mossy seaside locale. Needless to say, sparks fly.

This collaborative story world is brought to you by eleven award-winning, best-selling LGBTQ romance authors: L.A. Witt, L.B. Gregg, Z.A. Maxfield,  Heidi Belleau, Rachel Haimowitz, Anne Tenino, Amy Lane, SE Jakes, G.B. Gordon, Jaime Samms and Ally Blue. Each contemporary novel stands alone, but all are built around the town and the people of Bluewater Bay and the Wolf’s Landing media empire.

Blog Tour: Foothills Pride by Pat Henshaw ~ Guest Post #Excerpt #Giveaway

Foothills Pride V2

The second half of Pat Henshaw's Foothills Pride series is finally coming out in print - four of her stories in one volume:

The influx of San Francisco Bay Area gays is now commonplace in Stone Acres, California. But that means big city problems—much to the dismay of long-time residents of the small community.

In Relative Best, Zeke Bandy’s hotel becomes a haven for a battered youth. Native American Vic Longbow, who escaped a similarly brutal upbringing, comes face-to-face with it at Zeke’s place. With trouble surrounding them, can Zeke and Vic find their own peace and love?

On the outside, hardware store owner Frank McCord is the town’s bachelor handyman in Frank at Heart. Inside, he’s pining for true love, particularly the regard of software designer Christopher Darling. But recently divorced Christopher isn’t looking for another husband.

Country contractor Ben in Waking the Behr has always believed he’s heterosexual…until he meets city entrepreneur Mitch O’Shea. Mitch never thought he’d settle down with a guy from the country. Can a gay city mouse and a sexually confused country mouse find love?

When UC Davis horticulture grad Fen Miller agrees to help out in his cousin’s nursery over Christmas, he rents a room in sous chef John Barton’s Victorian house. John, another shorter than average man, catches Fen’s interest. But John’s past comes back to threaten them both in Short Order.

From Waking the Behr:

Driving Mitch’s Rhino GX up to the Bottom was every good old boy’s wet dream. The thing greedily gobbled up the road. A couple of times I felt like I was holding it back with a thin piece of rope that was on the verge of breaking.

Mitch, the bastard, laughed at me the whole way.

“Let her have some head.”

“Can’t. We’re coming up on a couple of tight switchbacks. Don’t want us to go off the road before we’ve had lunch.”

“Pussy,” he whispered.

Easy enough for him to say. I was sure glad I hadn’t let him drive. We’d have been careening all over the place and probably would’ve had a lot more near misses.

I could just imagine my cell lighting up with calls as we passed some of my friends in their trucks. I felt them all staring at Rita as we flew by.

“You could have let her go,” he grumbled after we parked at the Bottom.

My hands were shaking from exhilaration. My zillion-dollar smile had to be glowing. Fuck. A guy could come just from driving this baby.

“Whatever,” I mumbled, because I really didn’t have any words at all. I had no native language at that point. I was cruising on the blissful release of having danced with Rita.

As we rounded the corner of the parking lot and headed for the front door, my brother Connor nearly bumped into me.

“What the fuck is that thing, Ben?” He was practically panting as he took in Rita.

“Well, damn me. There are two of you beauties,” Mitch whispered close to my ear.

“Yeah, well. Mitch O’Shea, this is my younger brother, Connor. Connor, Mitch.”

They stared for a split second before Mitch thrust out his hand and Con grabbed it.

“Hey, nice to meet you. What kind of car is it?”

They stood much too close, in my opinion, as Mitch listed Rita’s specs.

Not that I was jealous or protective or anything. I mean, Mitch had said he was gay, and Con definitely was. So they were a perfect match, right?

Are you kidding? my dick sneered.

My gut screamed that Con was encroaching, which was really weird. It wasn’t like I had any real designs on Mitch. I mean, I’m straight, even though I was between women and didn’t really feel like hunting down another one at the moment.

So what if I was attracted to Mitch? He was a good-looking guy. I had a lot of good-looking friends.

True, none of them made me want to run my hands all over them, though. Which was beside the point, right?

“So you’re here for lunch?” Con asked Mitch.

I nodded, but Con didn’t acknowledge me.

“Mind if I join you?” he asked, staring at Mitch.

Couldn’t he tell he was the third wheel at this party?

I shrugged, and Mitch nodded. I had no clue what the nod meant.

Lorraine, the Bottom’s co-owner, latched on to us near the hostess stand, scooped up three menus, and said over her shoulder, “Right this way.”

Connor was having lunch with us, then.

“Let me give you a quick overview about the roadhouse, Mitch. Then you’ll have some basic info to think about. Okay?” This was a working lunch, right? So I’d best be acting businesslike.

Mitch nodded, and Con, fortunately, figured out what was going on and shut the fuck up.

Have you ever taken a trip to research a story? Tell me about it.

Indirectly. When we moved from the Washington, D. C. area toseries.

What is your writing Kryptonite?

Two things will pull me away from writing faster than Cradle of Egypt or Jewel Quest to soothe my soul. Hours later I look up and realize that while I’ve had a lot of fun, I haven’t gotten anything done.

Do you use a pseudonym? If so, why? If not, why not?

Well, sort of, but not anymore, and here’s why. I used to couldn’t figure out what I could do about his using my name, so I switched to my real married name—only to find out there was an author named Pat Henshaw already. Fortunately, she writes non-fiction self-help fashion books, so I don’t think we’ll be confused anytime soon.

If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?

My advice would be simple: Write more and don’t be shy about showing your work to others I suffer from self-doubt all the time. Maybe if I’d been given the confidence early in life, I’d have an easier time putting down my thoughts.

Do you reward yourself for writing, or punish yourself for failing to do so? How?

I believe in rewards, not punishment. Amazon is my friend, so I end up getting myself ridiculous rewards like a fountain pen, a new computer game, a Paper Nano kit, or something else that I have fun playing with. (I’ve even been known to reward myself when there’s nothing to reward. But that’s another story, right?)

Review

Every Christmas, without fail, one of the things I've looked the most forward to is a new North Pole City story from Charlie Cochet. I read the first one, Mending Noel, years ago and fell completely and utterly in love with everything about it. The setting (omg, it's the most imaginatively brilliant EVER), the characters, the writing ... just everything. From Rudy, the captain of the Rein Dear's, to the King of Frost, to Mayor Kringle himself, it's all just so wonderfully special, so to say I was both excited and dreading this final installment is a bit of an understatement, but The King's Courage is a spectacular send off.

The King of Frost, and father to Jack Frost, King Eirik, has been a bitter, heartbroken man ever since his beloved wife was murdered in the Frost War many, many years ago. Snarly and aloof and well, cold, Eirik has held himself away from all around him, including his own son. With Jack's wedding to Rudy Rein Dear fast approaching, he finds his castle overrun with joyous people wishing to celebrate love and marriage. Since Rudy is  well-loved among his Rein Dear brethren, all are in attendance for the lead-up to the wedding to end all weddings. There are parties and dances and banquets planned and while Eirik is happy for his son, all the hoopla is a bit much for him and he has every intention of staying as far as possible from all of it. Especially from Dasher, who seems to have made it his mission to annoy the King to no end.

You guys, I can't even begin to tell you how ridiculously fun it was to watch the King and Dasher snark and flirt. This is a standalone, BUT, you miss some of the background and build-up by not reading the previous books so you don't get the full importance of the King laughing and playing. I'll be honest, it made me tear up a little. This series, from beginning to end, is magical. What else could it be? If you're needing a break from the Christmas chaos, if you're wanting to snuggle on the couch with a cup of hot cocoa by the fire with the twinkling lights of the Christmas tree all around you, if you want to escape and laugh and smile and yes, swoon because there's lots of romance going on, then pick up all of the books in the series and read them all. Better yet, just in time and to make things easier, Dreamspinner Press has bundled them all together in paperback (I can't wait for mine to arrive!). But seriously, if you haven't checked this series out, fix that immediately. Everyone needs some Jack, Rudy, Vixen, Cupid, and all the rest in their lives. You'll be SO happy you did!

Blog Tour: Warlock Series by LM Somerton #Excerpt & Guest Post

Warlocks series

L.M. Somerton's Warlocks series is a dangerous mix of love, magic, mayhem, and the four elements - and a great MM paranormal tale:

Elemental warlocks are a rare breed. There are only four known to exist across North America and they don’t tend to advertise their talents. But when you have the power to control earth, air, fire and water there’s bound to be some drama, especially when one of the four is young and untrained.

The elements don’t always combine well and warlocks are no different. When their lives collide, it isn’t just sparks that fly. Add love to the mix and a dangerous cocktail of magic and mayhem is primed to ignite.

Book One: Elemental Love - Blurb

Elemental Love

An untrained warlock is a dangerous man to love.

On his twenty-first birthday, Evrain Brookes discovers he is an elemental warlock. The spell suppressing his talent lifts and he has to get used to a whole new existence. The protection that kept him safe during his childhood is gone, his skills are wild and uncontrolled and there are those that seek to use him for their own gain.

Evrain’s grandmother is a witch, his godfather another warlock. Between them they do their best to keep Evrain on the right path. He learns that in order to gain control of his formidable powers, he will need to ‘channel’ through a life partner, a process that happens only with consent and through love. But how will he ever find a man prepared to put up with a Dominant warlock for a boyfriend?

Dominic Castine has no idea that Evrain’s grandmother sees him as a prospective partner for Evrain. He tends her garden and she teaches him about herbs—a trade-off they both enjoy. He is drawn to Evrain’s charismatic presence but doesn’t understand why he wants to drop to his knees and submit to him.

When Agatha is murdered, Evrain and Dominic are thrown together as she manipulates them from beyond the grave. Dominic becomes the pawn in a terrifying game between warlocks whose powers he barely comprehends.

In the end, lives will depend on his courage, his willingness to grant Evrain control and the power of love.

Book Two: Elemental Hope - Blurb

Elemental Hope

A warlock’s blood gives him life. It can also bring his death.

It’s no wonder Evrain Brookes, newly fledged warlock, is feeling the strain. A coven of power-hungry witches is after his blood. Literally. A psychotic warlock wants him dead. His godfather’s training regime is about as much fun as chewing on nettles and an overweight, scarily perceptive cat has moved into his house.

His boyfriend Dominic yearns for a normal life, or at least a safer one. He accepts his role both as Evrain’s submissive partner and as the conduit through which he channels his gift—but he’s afraid for his lover, and the lengths Evrain’s enemies might go to in order to fulfill their lust for power.

When Evrain falls victim to a plot between the Octis Coven and malevolent warlock Symeon Malus, it’s up to Dominic to rescue him. With the help of the two other North American warlocks, Shadow the cat and an old enemy, Dominic takes steps to get his lover back. There’s a high price to pay and no guarantee that the risks he must take will work out but Evrain is worth going through hell for, even if it costs Dominic his life.

Excerpt - Elemental Love

“What’s with the weather today?” Evrain exclaimed, as his grandmother and godfathers turned toward him from their seats around the fire. “I swear I left Portland in the most glorious sunshine but I seem to have dragged a storm along with me.”

Coryn and Gregory exchanged glances. Agatha rose from her chair and came toward him, holding out her arms.

“Give your old grandma a hug, birthday boy.”

Evrain bent to accept Agatha’s embrace. He kissed the top of her head. She smelled of nutmeg and ginger, the scent familiar and comforting.

“Happy birthday, Evrain.”

“Thank you, Grandma.”

Coryn and Gregory queued to take their turns for hugs.

“Did you enjoy the drive over?” Coryn asked, his eyes twinkling.

“I did. Thank you both, so much. It was a great gift and a brilliant surprise. I could get used to driving around in that.”

“Sorry to disappoint you, but it’s just for the day. A special treat.”

Evrain shrugged. “I’ll take it.” He cast his gaze at each of the people he loved. They returned his scrutiny with an intensity that made him feel a little uncomfortable. “What? Do I have a smudge on my nose or something?” He walked over to the fire and peered into the mirror hanging over the mantel. As far as he could tell there were no weird marks or splotches.

“How are you feeling? Any unexplained headaches or nausea recently?” Gregory asked.

“No. My joints are a bit sore but I’m putting that down to a lack of exercise over the last few days. I was going to hike along the river this afternoon and shake off some of the lethargy.

I haven’t been sleeping well—I think I’m still getting adjusted to the time zone.” Evrain’s sense of discomfort grew. It wasn’t like Gregory to ask after his health. “Why the sudden interest in whether or not I have the sniffles? Is there a weird hereditary disease in the family that I don’t know about?”

“Why don’t you take a seat by the fire? There’s something we need to talk to you about.”

“Is this some kind of intervention?” Now he was really worried. “I’ve heard about those.

I promise I’m not a drunk, I don’t take drugs and I’m not addicted to gambling.” He gave a nervous laugh.

Gregory stood. He placed his hand on Evrain’s shoulder and squeezed. “It’s nothing to worry about. In fact, it should make things a whole lot clearer for you. I think it’s time.

Agatha?”

“Indeed. The hour doesn’t matter. I geared everything to the date.” She hummed a

strange tune under her breath.

“And a very significant date it is.” Gregory guided him to a chair, ignoring Agatha’s weird behavior.

Evrain sat, sinking into the overstuffed cushion. He’d need a cleaver to cut the atmosphere, not just a knife. Or maybe a scythe, that seemed appropriate. Agatha’s gothic mantel clock began to chime. Evrain’s senses sharpened. He could pick out every detail, every thread of the woven hearth rug. A mixture of intense aromas—spices, burning wood, candle wax, even Gregory’s aftershave—assaulted his nose. He wanted to cover his ears there was so much sound—spitting and crackling from the fire, leaves and branches thrashing outside in the wind, breathing, heartbeats. Evrain gasped. It was too much. He gripped the arms of his chair and felt every imperfection in the wood. His head swam.

“What’s… What’s happening?” He squeezed the words from between gritted teeth.

In the hearth, the fire exploded, sending huge flames shooting up the chimney. The storm outside intensified, pounding at the cabin with weapons of hail and wind. Evrain took short, sharp breaths. He sensed movement behind him and swiveled around to see the pot plants on the windowsill sprouting shoots and new leaves at incredible speed, the foliage spilling over countertops and onto the floor. This could not be happening. The pressure in his head built to an intolerable level. He was aware of Gregory’s touch, clasping his hand.

“Let it go, Evrain. Don’t be afraid.” Gregory’s voice, calm and soothing, penetrated his panic.

Evrain willed his body to relax. Multicolored lights exploded before his eyes, then everything went mercifully dark.

* * * *
“Evrain, you’re a warlock.”

“What the hell happened, Grandma? Am I ill? My head feels like a grenade exploded.

Inside it.” Evrain massaged his temples and groaned. “Wait. What did you just say?”

“I said, my dear boy, that you are a warlock. Now drink this, it will make you feel better.

You were out cold for a few minutes there.” She thrust a mug into his trembling hands.

“What is it?” He sniffed the drink with some suspicion.

“Butterbur, chamomile and ginger root tea sweetened with a little honey. My own remedy and better than any chemical you could poison your body with.”

“Does it cure insanity, because I could have sworn that you just told me I’m a warlock?”

“It doesn’t, and you are. Don’t be a child. Drink it.”

“Don’t be a— Gregory! Please tell me I’m hearing things.” He looked to his godfather who stood in front of the fire making strange movements with his fingers.

“Just hold on a minute, Evrain. I need to damp down your conflagration a little.”

“What? Wait… You’re… Oh my God. I’m in an alternate reality, aren’t I?” He addressed his question to Coryn, sitting in the chair next to him. Coryn seemed a bit pale despite the heat. His smile was full of sympathy and understanding.

“It’s true, Evrain. You are a warlock and so is Gregory. Your grandma put a suppression spell on your powers shortly after you were born, to protect you. You heard her humming? Well, she was lifting the spell. You have come into your powers. You’re very strong, Evrain. The change was too much for you and you blacked out for a few minutes.”

Series or standalone?
A question I’m often asked is whether I prefer to write a series or standalone stories. I’ve written both, and there is great pleasure in completing a standalone novel, knowing that characters have their happy ever after and the reader isn’t left wondering about dangling threads in the storyline. However, I’ve often found though that readers pick up on minor characters or fall in love with the protagonists and want more, so maybe all standalones have the potential to become serials.
Standalones can explore any theme or location to the very limit, knowing they or their characters will never go down this road again. The main characters can be led a merry dance, even to a fatal end. The reader is on edge because they know that the character they’ve related to and connected with could be done away with at any moment. The author is under no pressure to set threads running for future instalments. In lists of the greatest (or most popular) novels of all time, standalones are always there. For Whom the Bell Tolls, Catch 22, To Kill a Mockingbird, The Great Gatsby, The Invisible Man… the list goes on.
But imagine if Arthur Conan Doyle, having put his heart and soul into the creation of Sherlock Holmes, had left him after one story and moved on. I doubt we would have the modern day joy of watching Mr Cumberbatch interpret the role on screen. Standalones deny us the prospect of enjoying a protagonist taking on more challenges and allowing us to bond with them further.
Writing a series presents more opportunity to portray deeper characters and I enjoy the way I can write around a theme. In my Warlocks series, each book features the same principle character but with a growing range of minor players as the world expands. The theme of a burgeoning BDSM relationships is consistent, as is the growth and development of a young warlock discovering his powers.

That said my work in progress is a standalone – so clearly I’m not good at following my own advice!

A new Mary Calmes book right before Christmas is the Best. Present. Ever! A little over the top, a bit unbelievable at times, but Kairos is chock full of all the things we love about a Mary Calmes book. Lovable, if clueless at times, characters, banter that is sharp and witty, and a pace that is lightning quick. I've said this before, but one of my most favorite things about a Mary book is that you feel like you're dropped in the middle of a scene, a conversation, and expected to just go along. Which we do, happily. Which makes us feel that much closer to the characters, as if they're friends we're just catching up with. I'll admit the first few books of Mary's I read, many years ago, left me a bit flummoxed and disoriented at first what with all the names and keeping track of who was who, but now I love it. It's like coming home, like visiting old friends even though they're brand new, and it let's me know that I'm definitely reading a Mary Calmes book.

Kairos starts off with Joe and Kade in the middle of a conversation (see what I mean?! :) ) which quickly turns into a quasi argument where we learn a lot of information. First and foremost, Joe is head over heels in love with Kade. Who of course doesn't know this. Then we're thrust into the middle of a mess involving Kade's mentor and a kid named Declan. Joe and Kade are private investigators and are in the middle of a case as we begin Kairos but as things are often wont to do in a Mary Calmes book, things go astray quickly, and really, in the best kind of way. The easy camaraderie between Joe and Kade will remind you of Miro and Ian from the Marshals series, (the lusting after you best friend notwithstanding) but it's such a delight in and of itself it doesn't matter.

There is insta-love, another trademark of Mary's, but as always, it just somehow works. What also works is how things come full circle and Joe winds up back with his estranged family and they all pick up as if he never left, only this time Kade and Declan are along for the ride. Since this is a novella things move fast, but again, you just enjoy the flow and ease that Mary's words bring you. You'll smile a lot, maybe roll your eyes a time or two, but in the end you're going to be happy and wanting more as any true fan always does. I enjoyed Kairos immensely and ummm ... that cover didn't hurt my enjoyment in the least either. Gorgeous!! I hope Joe and Kade pop up again somewhere, sometime, because I loved these guys.

A Cop For Christmas - Amazon US | Amazon UK

Blurb

AFTER SAM'S GRANDFATHER nearly died in a blizzard one year ago, Sam has panic attacks in snow storms. So where does his friend Jackie propose they spend the holidays, as the last stop on their trip around the world?

Iceland. Of course.

But there's more in Iceland than snow. When Arnar, a handsome Icelandic man, offers to escort Sam on a several-day tour of the beautiful countryside, they soon find themselves drawn to each other. But Arnar is firmly rooted in his native soil, and Sam has to return to the US in a week to care for his ailing grandfather.

Suddenly, yule can’t last nearly long enough.

NOTE: Though this novel includes characters from "A Cop for Christmas," it is a standalone adventure. It isn’t necessary to read "A Cop for Christmas" first.

Author Bio

Jamie Fessenden is an author of gay fiction in many genres. Most involve romance, because he believes everyone deserves to find love, but after that anything goes: contemporary, science fiction, historical, paranormal, mystery, or whatever else strikes his fantasy.

Jamie Fessenden set out to be a writer in junior high school. He published a couple short pieces in his high school's literary magazine and had another story place in the top 100 in a national contest, but it wasn't until he met his partner, Erich, almost twenty years later, that he began writing again in earnest. With Erich alternately inspiring and goading him, Jamie wrote several screenplays and directed a few of them as micro-budget independent films. He then began writing novels and published his first novella in 2010. After nine years together, Jamie and Erich have married and purchased a house together in the wilds of Raymond, New Hampshire, where there are no street lights, turkeys and deer wander through their yard, and coyotes serenade them on a nightly basis.

Jamie recently left his “day job” as a tech support analyst to be a full-time writer.
