SIN & SAINT
EXECUTIONERS BOOK 4

M/M ROMANCE

RELEASE DATE: 12.26.17

COVER DESIGN: Winterheart Design

BLURB
Eric and Ellison Gant better known as Sin and Saint were opposite sides of the same coin. They epitomized the nicknames given to them by their friends in the band Executioners. One thing Sin and Saint did well was fight and being inseparable means they had a lot of disagreements, but one thing they agreed on was Sheriff Camden Pelter was theirs. The older, stoic man didn’t agree, yet they were determined to change his mind.

Camden Pelter had the daunting job of turning the Powers Sheriff Department around. The residents of the Georgia town didn’t have much faith or respect in the Deputies serving them. That’s where he came in and he was determined to do his job. That was easier said than done with two annoying brothers Sin and Saint who dogged his every step. No way in hell was he getting mixed up in the chaos that were the Gant Twins. Now if only if he could get them to listen and realize they didn’t have a chance of changing his mind.

Review

I have read all of JM Dabney’s books. It all started with Zerk and from there I fell for her characters. Each book we get a bigger glimpse of this universe she’s created. Each book more characters come to life and get their happy endings. In this one it’s Sin and Saint’s turn. The twins.

What a tricky story this must have been to write. So many lines to balance on. Sin and Saint are identical twins. Saint a bit chunkier but other than that they are mirror images. Pelter is the Sheriff and these twins have wanted him for years. How can this work without incest, right? I asked myself this. Though I read all stories I knew this author wanted to steer away from that.

Sin and Saint share Pelter. It’s more like a polyamorous relationship but Sin and Saint are present in most sexual encounters with Pelter but never touch each other that way. A balancing act for sure. As you read these three you come to realize, for them, it’s totally natural. This works for them and they aren’t happy unless they are together.

I loved the suspense the author brought into this love story. I didn’t love Pelter’s reaction after a particularly nail biting situation, and yes I wanted to hit him a hundred times. Thank God for Bull.

Give this book a go for sure. It’s a well written story with lots of love and a few intense moments.

EXCERPT
Saint didn’t want to get off the bike. Camden smelled like leather, sweat, and spicy cologne, but it could be the man’s leather jacket that was wrapped tightly around him. He’d dreamed of being that close to Camden for almost three years since he’d seen him the first time. Camden was dressed in tactical gear. Looking badass and sexy, commanding. He’d wanted to crawl into the man’s lap and never get up.
When he’d mounted behind Camden, he’d tried to keep as much distance as possible between them, but Camden moved him closer. His brother saw something he wanted, and he went for it, except when it came to Camden. Sin was as terrified as him but played a good game. They’d never wanted the same person before. They always talked about it, and when it happened, they would be the one for them.
They hadn’t anticipated, well, Sin hadn’t anticipated their one putting up such a fight. He wasn’t like Sin. He wasn’t confident or outgoing, he wanted someone who would love and take care of him—someone to make decisions. Sin joked about his Daddy issues. He knew Sin didn’t mean anything by it, but it hurt.
Camden had told him what to do—that he would eat. That he would sit beside him. He’d gotten hard at the commanding, gruff voice.
His chest hurt as Camden slowed to a stop. The man helped him off, and he stood beside the bike as Camden removed the helmet. He started to remove the jacket.
“No, keep it, I’ll get it next time.”
“Next time?”
“You stop by.”
“Okay.” He started to back away, but Camden’s huge hand wrapped around the back of his neck.
He found himself plastered to Camden’s side. He twisted his hands in Camden’s uniform shirt. Tilting his chin, he waited for the kiss. He wanted those firm, full mouth on his. Calloused fingertips pinched his chin, and the hand on his neck kneaded the muscles.
Another kiss landed on his forehead like before they’d left. Camden pulled back, and he looked into the man’s gorgeous green eyes. He was so close he could see the yellow flecks around the pupils.
“You’re so beautiful.”
Lips brushed his left cheek, then the right, and Camden moved lower until the man’s mouth hovered over his.
“No—”
A hard tug at his hair stopped him.
“I said you’re beautiful, Ellison.”
“Thank you.”
He lowered his gaze then jerked it back up when Camden retreated.
“I’ll wait here until you’re inside.”

EXCERPT
“Sin and Saint, don’t they have real names?” Even though the names seemed perfect, he didn’t like them, and he wasn’t going to call his—nothing his was in this bar.
“Sin is Eric, and Ellison is Saint, but I don’t think they answer to them. Last I heard their mom started calling them Sin and Saint.”
“I won’t be calling them Sin and Saint.”
“Does that mean you’ll be calling them because they’re headed this way. Good luck.”
He nearly hollered for Twitch when the little man darted away. He was a grown ass man so he could handle two pretty boys. Their platinum blond hair tousled around their beautiful faces. Fuck, he caught sight of himself in the mirror behind the bar, and he looked old, well, ancient compared to them. The silver patch in his goatee stood out starkly and reminded him he wasn’t in his twenties or even thirties anymore.
Just don’t be an asshole, Camden, he ordered himself. His hand locked tight around the bottle as the most beautiful men he’d ever seen flanked him on either side. Their slim bodies pushing in beside him, and he instantly knew which one was Sin. The boy pressed in tight to his side, while Ellison, Saint, kept a bit of distance. In his peripheral, he noticed the innocent pink that stained Ellison’s cheeks and he wanted to reach for him. Chase the spreading color under the pads of his calloused fingers.
“Well, hello, sexy, you’re new.”
Eric’s soft fingertips stroked up his bare arm only being stopped by the rolled cuff of his dress shirt. His stomach tightened.
“Camden.”
“You’re Scary’s cousin.”
Ellison’s voice was softer, tinged with a hint of shyness that made him want to turn to him.
“Why don’t you come home with us, Camden?”
“Why don’t you go play with someone your own age, boy?”
He didn’t know where the brusque tone came from, but he didn’t want to be some notch for boys with Daddy issues. It was a rage in his abdomen. An emotion he’d never experienced before burned through his veins, and he couldn’t think beyond getting as far away from Eric and Ellison as he could. Part of he wanted to put them over his knee for propositioning some strange man in a bar. The other part of him, the one he needed to rein in, wanted to take them home.
“Twitch,” he called for the bartender and pulled enough from his pocket to cover his few beers, plus a generous tip.
“Goodnight, boys.”
Eric looked at him like he was insane to turn them down and maybe he was, but he was a grown ass man, and he knew what he wanted. Ellison avoided glancing at him and instead of embarrassment or shyness, the young man looked ashamed. He pushed back from the bar and started to walk away.
“Goodnight, Camden.”
Ellison’s sweet voice called to him, and he imagined what it would sound like when the boy screamed his name as he was buried balls deep. Angry with himself, he strode toward the door.

He knew what he wanted, something or someone only his, someone to care for and make happy. A quick fuck he wasn’t and twenty-one was too fucking young for what he had in mind. That didn’t keep his mind from wandering to the twin temptation he’d left back at Brawlers and it didn’t disappear even as he drove in the opposite direction of Powers, Georgia, and from the things he knew he couldn’t have.

It wasn’t so bad because he still had King and Mal in his life and that meant the world to him.

A stupid accident and a broken leg sidelined King, keeping him off the road. When King needed help, Lincoln rushed in, and King couldn’t deny his attraction or love for Lincoln. Would one kiss ruin the weird, little family they’d created?

Review

This is definitely the sweetest book of the batch. There's no angst here at all. This is a romantic story with some romantic suspense. We have seen King and Linc in the other books. They danced around each other. We knew they wanted to be together but there were things holding them back. It was good to finally see them cut the weeds and blossom together.

I smiled through most of this book. It really showed the range this author has and how not all stories have to be filled with darkness and sadness to still be amazing!

Linc was so utterly sweet. He had low self esteem and King rocked at making sure Linc understood how much he was desired. We all long for that and I love seeing that in character connections.

You don't need to read any other book in this series to enjoy this one but you'd be missing out on some wonderful characters! Grab this and really just feel the love.

Excerpt

He Was More Than a Flirt and No Name Fuck

Through the applause, Andrew King and his band, Executioners, took one final bow and waved as they walked off stage. He smiled at the loudest one in the crowd. Lincoln Church, his ex-brother-in-law. The man rarely missed one of their shows, but they only really played at Brawlers, a gay bar, on the outskirts of their hometown. The band was more a hobby than anything, none of them had dreams of fame. They were asked plenty when they’d get themselves a contract and live a life as rock stars—that wasn’t for them, and two of the reasons waited for his bandmates. He watched his friends as they hurried to their partners.
Ghost was married to Harper, and they had a baby on the way by surrogate. He watched as Ghost scooped the petite Harper into his arms and she seemed to just melt into the man. They exuded enough happiness to fill the whole room.

Joker was married, and it was a full-time job keeping the man out of jail, he felt sorry for Dem, Joker’s husband. Dem stayed on his stool and opened his arms. Joker hated being touched but seemed to relax as he walked into his husband’s arms. It was nice to see. A lot had changed since Dem came into Joker’s life and he couldn’t believe how much. Joker even smiled on occasion, well, when the man wasn’t scowling and trying to get himself thrown in jail. Sheriff Camden Pelter had a full-time job on his hands just keeping Joker under control. Throw in the rest of the Crews, and he was surprised Camden hadn’t run as far and fast from Powers as he could.

Sin and Saint, the youngest of his band, were still single, but they had their eyes on a man who was on the run every time they were around. He didn’t doubt the twins would get him eventually. Camden didn’t have much choice. The twins were obsessed, and everyone found it amusing except the Sheriff.

But fuck, he was jealous of what his friends found. Everyone thought he was just a flirt and a fuck, but he wasn’t. He was just terrified of ruining his friendship with Linc. He loved the man. The whole ex-brother-in-law thing ruined his chance. His ex-wife knew he was gay before he did.

He’d loved his wife, but not in the way she’d deserved. They’d done what was expected when they’d dated for several years, and Melanie ended up pregnant. She was currently off at college while he took care of their son, Mal. She came home on breaks and for the Summer, the occasional weekend. She was actually home this weekend, so she was spending quality time with Mal. Being away from their son killed her, but for him, he wanted her to have every opportunity, and that meant college. For as long as he’d known her, she wanted to be a nurse, and he needed her to take the chance.

They had an odd little family, yet it worked for them.

He stepped up to the bar and took the beer the bartender Twitch handed him with a huge smile.
He nodded his thanks and smiled wider as a strong arm circled his waist.

“Amazing as always, King.”

Linc gave him a tight squeeze and took his own refill from Twitch.

“Thanks.”

Linc let him go, and he almost moved closer to silently ask Linc to put his arm around him again. Linc was the perfect guy. He was sweet, caring, intelligent, handsome, and King loved the man’s softness. Linc was a big guy. Shorter than his own six-three, but Linc was chunky, he had this rounded belly that had a bit of a jiggle to it, his arms and thighs thick. Linc was also hairy as fuck. He’d lost count of the times Linc played the main star in all his jerk-off fantasies.
Linc was a science teacher and high school football coach. He never felt quite good enough even to be Linc's friend. Melanie, Linc, and he co-parented Mal since they’d brought the baby home from the hospital.

He drove trucks during the week, sometimes over the road that kept him away for days at a time, but Mal stayed with Linc. He loved when Linc watched Mal at his house because Linc would sleep in his bed. Linc’s scent would still be on his sheets when he came home. It was the best sleep he’d have all week.

As some guy came up to him, he frowned as Linc stepped away. He turned his head to ask Linc where he was going only to see the man smiling as he started a conversation with one of the bouncers, Bull. King turned down the invite to head outside. He and the man had hooked up before, but it was getting old not being able to have the one he wanted. It also caused him guilt to be propositioned with Linc so close. They wouldn’t ever be more than friends, and that killed a piece of his heart every time he was reminded of it.

Linc always stepped away to allow him space to find someone—to hook up—but that wasn’t what he wanted. He had let people think what they wanted, although, it was getting harder to pretend and deny the truth. Melanie knew him better than anyone, and she protected all his secrets no matter how much she hated it.

His phone vibrated in his back pocket, he pulled it out to find Melanie’s picture on the screen, and he rushed for the front door. He stepped out into the cool night air and took a long deep breath. The breeze felt good on his overheated skin.

“Hey,” he answered.

“Shit, I hate calling you.”

“Melanie, don’t even start, what’s going on?”

He and Melanie had been best friends long before they were a couple or co-parents. Most would probably think their relationship weird, but to them, it was natural to go from husband and wife right back to best friends.

“This is so stupid, but Mal’s in bed and I really want ice cream.”

He chuckled. “What kind and what else do you need?”

“Just the usual, oh, and you know.”

He chuckled, he knew the woman better than he knew himself most days. He sensed her moods even when they were hundreds of miles apart.

“How can you still be embarrassed, we were together for eight years and friends since we were ten.”

“Come on, don’t make a big deal out of it, I want my fucking ice cream.”

“I’ll get everything packed up and be home in an hour or so.” He walked away from the door as it opened and the overpowering bass of the music inside made it hard to hear.

“Perfect, I have homework to do, and a presentation to prepare for. It’s going to be a long night.”

“You got this, Melanie.”

“I know, see you soon, love you.”

“Love you too. We’ll take a movie break when I get home.” They didn’t spend enough time together. He lived under a constant shadow of guilt for the time he didn’t have for Mal, Melanie, and Linc. He worked as a trucker to afford to take care of them, so they wouldn’t have to work harder than they needed to, but lately the cons were outweighing the pros. He’d been doing it for years, and at thirty, he didn’t want to have to find a new job—especially when finding a new one wouldn’t be as well-paying as the one he already had.

“Sounds perfect.”

“Is Melanie okay?”

He disconnected the call and turned to find Linc behind him. The man looked gorgeous in faded jeans and a v-neck t-shirt that exposed the thick hair that he knew covered the man’s chest and stomach. It matched Linc’s dark blond hair.

“She wants ice cream.”

“Do you want me to take care of it so you can finish up here?”

The man was selfless, Linc was always the first one to offer to help. He did it without even thinking of getting paid back. He didn’t even expect a thank you.

“No, do you want to help me pack up? It was a rough week. I’d just like to go home.”

“Sure. Are you okay? Want to talk about it?”

“I’m fine, I just think I need a vacation, and I might do that later this Summer. We can go somewhere.”

And by we he included Linc and Melanie because to him, it was always the four of them.

“That would be good for you, Melanie and Mal.”

He didn’t correct him, Linc still tried to give him and Melanie space when she was in town. It was as if he didn’t want to intrude on their time with Mal. Linc was always included. He and Melanie had talked about it, Linc was as much a father to Mal as he was.

“Want to come over and watch a movie with Melanie and me, like the old days?”

“That would be great. I’ll make breakfast.”

“Deal.”

They headed back inside and made quick work of breaking everything down with Joker and
Ghost helping. Sin and Saint had taken off to stalk the Sheriff who was seated in a back corner having a beer by himself. The man had company he hadn’t expected. Finally, they had the van packed up and said their goodbyes.

“Meet you at the house,” Linc called as he hopped into his car.

He watched until Linc was inside and the man pulled out of the parking lot, heading in the direction of his cabin. He jumped into the van and drove off toward town. His mind wandered to places it shouldn’t. He loved Melanie. She’d been his best friend in high school, and when they’d started dating, it seemed like the thing to do. Melanie was bisexual, she’d told him early on in their friendship, but her family wasn’t accepting, and neither was his. He’d felt like such a hypocrite when he hadn’t shared he was gay. When they’d had sex, it hadn’t been fireworks, but they’d had a great relationship. They never argued. When she’d come to him and asked him if he was gay, she hadn’t been angry when she asked, more disappointed that he hadn’t confided in her.

They’d divorced but continued to live together. It was natural. They’d grown impossibly closer. Nothing really changed except they didn’t share a bed anymore. They’d agreed to never keep secrets from each other, but he didn’t know how she’d handle knowing her ex-husband and best friend had been in love with her brother for years.
He’d wanted to tell her and ask for advice, but he didn’t want to deal with the weirdness that might come from it.

He turned into the parking lot of the only twenty-four-hour gas station in town. He got out and hit the alarm, he strode across the parking lot to get what Melanie needed, then head home to his family.

Review

To say I have been waiting for this book would be an understatement. Waiting implies patience... I had none. I know the title is Ghost but it's really more Harper's story. We met Harper in the Brawler series. We knew a lot about her there.

Who is Harper? Without giving away the plot. She is a trans woman. Her whole life she longed for peace within herself. She accepts the wrongs that are done to her by others. She needs to be rescued not only from an abusive relationship but from herself. Enter Ghost. Now, it takes a unique person to love and heal another. Ghost does this almost effortlessly for her. He makes her love herself.

There's a point in the book where she looks at herself in the mirror, naked, for the first time in forever. She says words that show her appreciation for all her parts. It's this moment in the book that even I, as a reader, felt the vulnerability and yet strength of Harper the person.

Even though this book is serious, dark at times, and emotional the author adds levity. She adds humor to tense situations and showers Harper with the love she so much deserves. If you knew of her before you too have longed for her happy ending. If you are just joining that's fine too. The author takes the first chapter and brings you into the life she lives. You see her struggles, her pain, and the prison that is her life.

I commend the author for tackling so many hard issues in this book. Self-harm, depression, suicide attempts, and cheating (this is a past conversation BTW don't freak out). The author gave the transgender community and the LGBTQA community an amazing book written with so much respect and justice. I've read transgender books in the past and often times I feel that I'm just not in the character's head. I can't understand. I didn't feel that way with Harper. I cried with her, laughed with her, I felt the moment the cloud of suffocation lifted and life was breathable again.

I've said this many times, this is my favorite JM Dabney book to date and I can't recommend it enough!

Excerpt

“Why are you out of bed?”

She squeaked as she turned to find Gideon standing in the doorway.

“Um, I—”

“I told you to call me if you needed anything.”

“You’re working. I didn’t want to—”

“If you say you didn’t want to bother me, we’re going to have another disagreement.”

“If I’d known you were a dictator I would’ve gone back to my place.”

“No, you wouldn’t have, because I said you were coming to stay with me. And I assure you I’m nowhere near dictator status.”

“I beg to differ.”

“You’re not going to change the subject, you should be resting.”

“I’ve been resting for almost two weeks, and I’m tired of it, I’m fine. My stitches are out. The bruises are fading, I’m sure I can go home.”

They’d kept her in the hospital for almost a week before they’d freed her to return home. Gideon’s house wasn’t where she’d expected him to take her. At first, it was odd to take up residence, even temporarily, on the farm, but she had to admit the last five days were amazing. It felt like home there, yet she didn’t want to admit it.

“Until they find Bill, you’re staying here. Now, since that’s over—”

“It’s not over.”

“Yes, it is. Now come out on the porch, I have a present for you.”

“Pre…present?” No one ever got her a present before except for Kyle, Clora, and a few members of the Crews. Gideon had given her flowers.

He turned, bowed and motioned toward the door.

She closed the fridge and hugged the sports bottle to her chest—her steps hesitant.

“Come on, honey, I’m sure you’ll like your surprise. You want me to go first?”

“I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize, I’ll do this as fast or as slow as you need, I want your trust and I know I haven’t earned it yet.”

“I’m—”

“Quit saying you’re sorry, there’s nothing for you to apologize for.” Gideon stepped outside. “I had a friend call me this morning while I was in the fields and asked me a favor.”

“Oh.”

“You can pick one.”

“Pick one, what—”

Gideon moved to the side, and her eyes widened at the cardboard box filled with the tiniest puppies she’d ever seen. There were only two, and each looked like it would fit perfectly in the palms of her hands. She barely noticed when he took her drink, and she eased down to kneel beside the box. She started to reach for them but hesitated.

“Go on, you can pick them up. They’ll need to be bottle fed for another month.”

“Where?”

“The local vet and his husband run a rescue, they shut down a puppy mill. These were the only two that weren’t ready to be put up for adoption. Jared thought since I run my own business I’d have the time for them. So I agreed to foster them.”

She glanced at him as he sat on the porch beside her.

“I saw them and thought you might want one.”

“Can’t I have them both,” she asked and cringed.

“If that’s what you want. I’ll let him know. He brought everything we’ll need. He said they’re some kind of teacup Yorkie/Maltese mix. Specially bred to be tiny. The rest of their litter mates didn’t make it. The mother appeared too young and exhausted, it didn’t look like she was nursing them. The condition the kennels were in was the worst he’d ever seen. They’ve been in the clinic for about a week.”

“So they won’t get much bigger?”

They were so cute and tiny, she rubbed the tops of their heads with her fingertips. She refused to look at Gideon as she tried to blink away tears.

“Harper,” he softly said her name, then his fingers stroked her scarred cheek, and his thumb traced the fringe of her wet lashes.

“Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“I want Joker to have one of them.”

“Really, I don’t know if a micro dog is exactly Joker’s style.”

She snorted at the amusement in his voice. It probably wasn’t, but her friend was way too reclusive. He needed something of his own. Something to focus on other than his demons.

“I have a key to his place, we’ll leave it, her, him?”

“Her, they’re both girls.”

“We’ll sneak her in and leave her with a bow.”

“Sneaky.”

She gently reached into the box and lifted both brown and black puppies, cradling them to her chest.

“Names?”

“I don’t know, I’ve never gotten to name anything before.”

“No hurry, you’ll figure something out.”

“Why are you so nice to me?”

“That’s a question I’m only going to answer once, come here.”

She nearly dropped her presents when he patted his lap. Did she even dare?

“Do you trust me,” Gideon asked. “Even a little?”

“Yes.”

“Then come sit on my lap, I won’t hold you, you’re free to get up at any time. I just want you close while I answer why I’m nice to you. You can even hold on to your new babies.”

She nodded as she carefully got to her knees and moved close to Gideon until she could sit sideways on his lap. She buried her face in soft fur and waited. Gideon’s stomach was soft against her ribs and hip. His scent was rich earth, sweat, and the incense he always seemed to burn. His beard strangely soft against her neck.

He kept his word, he didn’t trap her in his arms. Instead, his right arm laid casually over her thighs and his left loosely wrapped around her. Gideon’s large hand rested on her left hip.

“Now, you wanted to know why I’m being nice to you.”

She nodded causing his mustache and firm, yet soft lips to brush the still tender scar on her cheek. Harper forced herself not to shy away from the caress. It seemed an inadvertent act. She’d come to rely on her gut instinct when it came to situations where it might prove dangerous for her, but in that instance, she didn’t feel the need to flee. She oddly wanted to get closer like she had the day they’d napped, and he’d held her.

“I think I’ve mentioned it before, I’d like to take you on a date. Get to know you. You’re beautiful and sweet, even when you’re being stubborn.”

“I’m not stubborn.”

“We’ll leave that as another point of contention.”
