 photo release banner small_zpsukhxgle6.jpg

YOU ASKED. HERE IT IS:

A CONTINUATION OF KATY AND RICHARD’S STORY

So many readers wanted to know what was next for Katy and Richard. Melanie Moreland wrote this small continuation of their story for her newsletter, with the intention of eBook sites to offer free download. After hitting some Amazon roadblocks and head scratching as to how to let more people see it, an idea formed.

She didn’t write this to make money, but to say thank you. So the best idea—pay it forward.

Melanie has partnered with the Keith Milano Memorial Fund, and all profits will go to this amazing charity which benefits Mental Health awareness, and suicide prevention. The add-on is releasing 7/3/16 and is available for pre-purchase. This story available for a limited time for 99 cents.

Fund Information:
The Keith Milano Memorial Fund was established to help raise awareness about the devastating and deadly disease that is mental illness. Keith’s spirit and laughter is kept alive through our efforts to increase awareness about mental illness and to raise money for education and imperative research. Keith often struggled with society’s perception of mental illness. Our hope is that by having the strength to say that Keith was “Bipolar” we can strip away the stigma and help others to be more open about their disease.
Keith’s fund is a self-directed memorial fund. Funds raised are spent on programs and research programs selected by the Milano / Sprung family

 REVIEW

Could you fall in love with someone you've never seen? Only relying on the sound of their voice, their cooking, who they truly are as a person? But never see their face? Over the Fence brings blind dating to a new level... an honest one. Nathan (this story is in his POV) has a new neighbor, Kourtney aka Chefgirl! Nathan is a guy who lives on crap food, and a lonely disposition. Then there's a sound, a tantalizing aroma coming from over the fence. And so begins the courtship of these 2 characters. The twist? They never lay eyes on each other... well, not for awhile anyway. The chemistry between these characters are perfect. The flow is flawless, the character development is beyond fabulous. There's an element of suspense with them not knowing what each other look like and being it's in Nat's pov WE, the reader, have NO clue what Kourtney looks like. I found myself lifting my chin while reading, thinking I could see for myself what this lovely, amazing woman looks like. That's how involved Melanie writes her stories!

These are perfectly imperfect characters with broken pasts desperate for a happy ending. They are each others pillars, they are strength. Together they change who they are and become the best of themselves. This is a true love story. One where beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Melanie is a magician with the written word and you will be mesmerized by this book!

She is a woman on the run. Pain, loneliness and terror are what she is leaving. Where she is headed doesn’t matter as long as it’s away from the hell her life has become.

Joshua Bennett is trapped in a prison of his own making by the memories of his past. Traumatized and isolated, he is a reclusive writer, living a quiet, lonely life, his only companion his dog, Bear. It is what he knows, what he has accepted to be his life.

One dark night, one huge storm, and one ice patch brings them together. He finds himself with an unexpected houseguest with no memory. She wakes up a stranger to herself and the man watching her. Even more mysterious is the lack of any sort of identification with her or in her car. She is an enigma to both of them.

Trapped by the storm and isolated from the outside world, they slowly open up, learning to trust and love, until the world once again shows up, threatening the fragile peace of their newly discovered world, and tearing them apart.

There are many twists and turns as they struggle to find each other, overcoming both the mental and physical elements that keep them apart.

A story about overcoming our fears, finding love and learning to live again.

Give a Little, Thank A lot ~ Melanie Moreland for PAWS *Giveaway*

OUR MISSION
The mission of PAWS is to ensure that there comes a day when every homeless animal has a safe, loving home where they are respected, nurtured and valued as a family member.  We are working towards a time when NO homeless animal must die simply for being born.  Our mission will be achieved through the following steps:
  1. Education – It is imperative that the public be educated about their treatment of and behaviour towards their fellow creatures.  Through outreach we are beginning to teach people that animals are not property to be disposed of at will but living beings deserving of our respect and compassion.

  2. Rescue – Rescue work is our focus because of the many lives which need to be saved.  We rescue animals from abuse, abandonment and neglect.  We are also heavily involved in trapping and rehabilitating feral cats, domestic animals who have been forgotten and marginalized by humans.

  3. Spay/Neuter – We are committed proponents of spaying and neutering cats and dogs.  We face an overpopulation crisis which means millions of animals are killed every year simply because there are not enough homes for them.  This is a tragedy which must end.  PAWS not only spays or neuters every animal who comes through our doors; we help fund low-income individuals who would not otherwise have this procedure done for their companion animals.
OUR VALUES
  1. Every living creature has intrinsic worth and deserves to lead a life free of pain and suffering.  Animals not only deserve our compassion but our respect as well.

  2. Domestic animals are not property but living creatures who have emotions and are capable of forming deep social attachments.

  3. Those who choose to be guardians of domestic animals take on the responsibility of caring for these animals for the rest of their natural lives.  This is why we are very careful about our adopters; we want our animals to be cared for by people who will stand by them through thick and thin.  Issues will arise but these can almost always be solved with knowledge and patience.

  4. We are a NO-KILL shelter which means we do not take the life of an animal unless severe pain or suffering is involved.  Animals have good and bad days just like humans; an animal who seems aggressive or dangerous one moment may only be experiencing stress or fear of an unknown situation.  Countless ferals have been saved at our shelter because we refused to take “professional” advice and kill them.  Now, many of them are the sweetest lap cats imaginable.
Melanie Moreland chose PAWS because they support no kill shelters and help abused and abandoned animals find a forever home. Her words:

"I chose this charity for those reasons and because of the fact animals can’t speak for themselves. We are all god’s creatures and we all deserve a home and to be loved."

Find out more about this wonderful charity on their website : PAWS

****INTERVIEW****

Beneath the Scars is a hauntingly beautiful tale. A lot of emotions are in play here. How do you, the writer, get in the zone for a story like that?

I listened to a lot of music when I wasn’t writing. I can’t play music while I write but I draw from the emotions I feel when I listen to the music in between. Often when I am writing I get up and walk around imagining what is happening and how I would feel if I was in the situation. My husband has learned there are times best to simply leave me alone. I went to a few dark places putting myself in a spot where I could relate to Zachary. Megan’s pain was a little easier to identify with—who hasn’t had their heart broken ?

From your first published book, Into the Storm, to now, what would you say you've learned about  the publication world?

It’s tough. I am not very good at self-promotion and it is something I need to get better at. You have to wear so many different hats, and I’m sure, like most writers, I would really rather just be left to create the worlds I live in for a short time and let someone else do all the rest. The way the industry has changed, that  is really no longer possible. It’s a huge learning curve, one I am still dealing with daily!

What's your biggest strength as a writer?

I write with emotion—I draw on past experiences and feelings I’ve dealt with in my life.  I love creating the scenes around the characters and helping the reader see them as they move through the story. I want them to experience the feelings of that unexpected intense love, the joy and pain…all of it.

Cast your characters for me? Say they are going on the big screen, who would be your ideal cast?

Henry Cavill as Zachary. His eyes speak to me and his broad shoulders and height are the  perfect fit for how I pictured him. Alexis  Bledel  as Megan. She has that pretty girl next door look I imagined Megan to have.  I picture Ryan Gosling as Jared and Anne Hathaway as Karen.

Where would you like to see your writing take you?

I’d like to be able to do nothing but write. I would love to be in the position of writing more, attending meet-ups getting to know other authors I admire. Maybe one day!

I know you are a music guru so this might be hard. But, what soundtrack would Beneath the Scars have? Give me at least 5 songs.

Secondhand Serenade figures huge in this one. His haunting words and great melodies played a lot throughout this book.

Never too Late – Secondhand Seranade.

Stranger – Secondhand Seranade

Alone in this Bed – Framing Hanley

The Mess I’ve made-Parachute

and a song called Once by Air Supply – all instrumental. Haunting and pretty and was so perfect for the underlying feeling to the book

I'm going to go out on a limb and say, after reading this book, that you're a dog lover, am I right and if so do you have any of your own?

LOL! No, actually I don’t. I have a cat. I love dogs and their beautiful personalities. I think they bring out the very best in their masters and they are fun to write. They say so much with no words. Huffs and whines, head butting and eye rolls. All my cat does is sleep and eat. Not much to add to the scene unless she rolls over.

What or who inspires you?

Music inspires me. Great words. A book that melts away the hours.

In people? Kindness and generosity of spirit. We are on earth for such a short time—we should treat each other well.

Can you tell us about any future work?

I’m working on the next book. A girl next door story. And I have another idea floating around for the one after. It’s a little more…angsty.

What have you learned about being a writer?

It’s something I can’t not be anymore.(And if my editor saw that line, she’d smack me.)  My day isn’t complete until I write. If the voices in my head are silent it bothers me. I am constantly creating, scribbling on pieces of paper, thinking of scenarios and making up stories about the smallest thing. I have to write. Every day.

MY REVIEW: 5 STARS

*sigh* Megan and Zach. Wounded hearts. This books was a fantastical journey through a love that is rarely seen. I could feel all of Zach's pain throughout the story and Megan's determination to heal the unseen scars. One look at Zach and you know there's a story there. A painful one and Megan's strength and the power of her love for him transforms Zach.

Zach, in his all consuming darkness holds on to the light that Megan brings to his life. In return he helps her heal her own wounds.

The tug of war the two have was choreographed brilliantly by Melanie Moreland and I was enthralled! This is how you write a love story.

Melanie owned me early on and never did that falter. She has written a story that will make you soar through every emotion there is!

Outstanding!
