Synopsis

A confused straight guy and a gay hookup artist walk into a bar ...

Firefighter Sean Connolly is straight -- until one impulsive night changes everything. He tries to dismiss it as a fluke, but when a fire rescue leads him back to the guy who blew his mind, he's thrown into a chaos of confusion and want. He gives in to curiosity, exploring a new side to himself -- not just his attraction to a man, but his desperate need to please.

Paramedic Jace Gillespie is a hookup pro, never letting anyone get too close. When he meets Sean, though, he feels a connection right away. An ill-advised threesome seems to kill a friendship in the making, but when they're thrown together by work, it doesn't take long for passion to reignite. Sean calls to something in Jace he never knew was there, and together, they explore a dynamic that fulfills them both.

But as feelings deepen, doubts surface. Sean is in the closet, and Jace struggles to trust his promise that it won't last forever. With family conflict and his career in the balance, Sean finds it difficult to picture his life without secrecy, but if he doesn't find a way, he may lose the one person he most wants to please.

Rapid Response is the longest novel of the Hearts and Health series at approximately 92,000 words! It can be read as a standalone.

Review

I am a fan of this series and was excited for this book! Firefighter Sean Connolly has his entire world rocked when he meets Jace Gillespie one night. Jace and his friend Lena are out having a drink when Sean bumps into Jace. A spilled drink leads to a very strange threesome.

Sean, who is straight, doesn’t understand why he is way more interested in Jace than the beautiful woman with them. After things become uncomfortable for Sean, he runs. Never expecting to see Jace again, he tries to forget him, forget that whole night. He can’t forget though, and he also sees Jace again.

These two are thrown together and just like the fires Sean fights, they are combustible. Sean is confused, but worse...he’s afraid. Afraid of how he feels, afraid of being found out. This really tore my heart up, love being something you feel you have to hide. Sean’s being pulled in so many directions and the only place we see the real him is when he’s with Jace.

I really loved the dynamics between these two men, we know neither really knows what they’re doing, but I love that they know it too. We get to see all the ups and downs, some beautiful and some incredibly ugly. While these men seem confused, one thing they know for sure is that they love each other.

It’s so nice to see a relationship where both parties work so hard not to hurt each other. They inevitably do get hurt, but even that is done in a way that they grow from. I’m really happy with how this story played out, I could feel how much love was between Jace and Sean. This was a really great addition to a really wonderful series.

Excerpt

Sean glanced into the mirror, and though he looked like the same guy on the outside — dark hair, dark eyes, unremarkable face — he didn’t recognize the one on the inside. And that was scary.

“I’m sorry,” he scraped out.

“For what? Staring at my mouth, or for hiding from yourself?” Jace asked caustically.

Sean swallowed hard. His traitorous eyes found Jace in the mirror, locking on the mouth in question. Pink, full lips. Jace had been a good kisser. A good … sucker.

“Yeah, just like that,” Jace said.

Sean jerked his gaze to Jace’s eyes, which bored into him, their power not diluted in the slightest by the mirror acting as their go-between. Could Jace see what was inside? If he could...

“Sorry,” Sean whispered. “I didn’t realize I...”

“What, Sean? What didn’t you realize?”

“That I, um. That I...” He couldn’t get the words out.

“That you like my mouth? That you want it on you again? That you—”

Sean spun around. “Shut up.”

“Make me.”

His breath caught. “What?”

“You heard me,” Jace said. “Make me shut up. You know exactly how to do it.”

Sean hesitated, and Jace smirked. “Yeah, I didn’t think so.”

Frustrated and frazzled, Sean acted on instinct, doing exactly what Jace had asked. He grabbed the front of Jace’s shirt, spun him around, and shoved him against the counter containing the row of sinks.

Then he kissed him.

Hard.

To make him shut up.

It was the only way to get him to stop talking. Gloating. Jace had practically ordered him to do it, the bastard. And Sean needed to shut up the doubts in his head, too.

He closed his eyes, blocking out all thought, and sank into the feeling of Jace’s perfect, hot mouth on his again.

My Anti-Valentine: Jaded by relationships gone wrong, Bret throws an anti-Valentine's Day party to celebrate being single and burn his ex-boyfriends' belongings. Bret's low interest in sex has destroyed every relationship he's had and tarnished his view of romance, but a cute blond guy at the party who says all the wrong things inspires him to hope for more.

My Anti-Boyfriend: Brad has everyone fooled. He's the casual, sexy friend. The fun-time guy who sleeps around. Except not really. There's one man who holds his heart: his best friend -- with benefits -- Riley. Too bad Riley has no interest in a relationship, and as far as Brad can tell, never will. But once Brad acknowledges his feelings for Riley, he can't continue to ignore them. Riley's days of having his cake and eating it too are over. Then again, maybe Brad is tasty enough to keep a man satisfied.

My Anti-Marriage: Love has never been a good bet for Chris, so going on a Vegas wedding trip for his friends is bittersweet. Especially when Ant, the last man to break his trust, is suddenly along for the ride. Which explains why Chris wakes up in his hotel room with the mother of all hangovers. Not so much why Ant is in his bed ... or worse, wearing a matching wedding band.

Review

Oh dear I loved this one. Two charming guys and I just looooved them.
Harry made me laugh and Bret gosh isn’t he adorable!

When Harry meets Bret it isn’t in the best way... Bret put together an anti Valentine party.
Harry is there with his niece and doesn’t understand Bret’s aversion toward Valentine's Day.

Harry has had it with all the meaningless one night stands. With nothing else he decides to go with his niece to a party.

A bad start ends up with a kiss... Bret is honest to Harry and Harry needs some time to digest it all.
The was so much humor, even the sarcastic kind, it was just delicious. The serious side of this story was really wonderfully put down. The wide spectrum of asexuality. How they try to find a way that will work for both of them, searching... so both will be satisfied with the situation.
Honestly and love are the big words here.
I love both personalities. The buildup was well done. The whole story was warm, considerate, and well written!!

#2 my Anti-Boyfriend

Riley and Brad are best friends and fuck buddies.
But Brad it tired of pretending it doesn’t hurt that he’ll always be a second choice.
Riley will never tie the knot... he’ll end up left behind like always... no strings, not for him.
He’ll always have Brad in reserve... his best friend and best fuck buddy.

Riley doesn't want any strings, he will be abandoned after all... like always.
Riley doesn’t understand why Brad doesn’t reply to his calls, messages or even attend to their club on Friday evenings... he misses him.
Riley is a hot seducer and even Brad can’t resist him. Damn Riley.
When Riley finally understands the reason, he has to make the choice of his life.

Between all the hot and filthy mouths we can find vulnerable men and aren’t they adorable!

I love this  writing style... steady, to the point, clear, and even in this short story the feelings are there.
The friends from part 1 are there and that means even more fun!

#3 my Anti-Marriage

Chris had only terrible experiences with men, the last one was Ant... cheater Ant... and Chris is still angry.
Vegas yeahhh!!! Riley and Brad  want to get married in Vegas, so, the circle of friends head to Vegas for the weekend. Chris thought he would be the fifth wheel, but surprise, surprise
Ant is part of their circle being a friend of Brad's.

After a drunk fest Chris wakes up with Ant, in his bed, and both wearing.... a ring!!
They can’t remember a thing.
Chris is hurt and Ant hopes he can finally explain what really happened three months ago.
He doesn’t realize how stubborn Chris is.

Hurt, comfort, friends, love, romance, and hot sex... it’s all there.. wrapped in a lovely ribbon with a silken bow. The circle of friends are just great and their bond is solid and unbreakable.
I loved this anti trilogy! The feelings are diverse and very romantic.
It was a fun read with a positive vibe. After I finished reading I laid down on my couch with a big smile.

EXCERPT FROM MY ANTI-VALENTINE

Bret pointed an accusing finger. “No couples! This is anti-Valentine’s Day. You can take your cards and your candies and your flowers and go to one of the bajillion places celebrating loooove tonight.”

“Ew, no,” Darla said with a laugh. “Harry is my cousin, not my boyfriend. I wouldn’t break your rules, anti-love guru!”

Bret did love the name Harry, mostly when applied to a boy wizard with a lightning bolt scar on his forehead. He gave Harry another onceover, noticing his sky-blue eyes and perfect cheekbones. Nope. Still didn’t like him, especially the frown that was twisting his features.

“Someone must have done a number on you,” he said.

Bret bristled. “Why do you say that?”

“I mean, to be this bitter about Valentine’s Day? It’s hard to imagine you really hate the commercialism of the holiday that much. I bet if you had a girlfriend it would be a different story.”

Bret rolled his eyes. “It really wouldn’t. Romance is a manufactured concept, you realize that, right? You might love someone, but if you do, you should appreciate them every day, not once a year with the most predictable gifts ever. That’s without even getting into the origins of Valentine’s and how very un-romantic it actually is.”

Darla grabbed a drink from the counter and swatted Bret’s butt playfully. “I’m going to leave you boys to it. If you get over your romance phobia, Harry’s on the market, and he hasn’t landed a nice guy in ages, so he’s pretty much a sure thing.”

“Darla!” Harry shouted after her, his cheeks turning bright red. “What the hell? Jesus, that’s not how I usually …”

“What?” Bret asked, feeling uncomfortable.

He’d thought he was engaging in friendly debate with a straight guy, only to discover he’d been bantering with someone cute, available, and gay. And that wasn’t at all the point of this party.

“Um, you know. Tell people I’m gay, or that I’m available. I definitely try not to go the ‘I’m so desperate I’ll take anyone route,’ but Darla seems to have taken care of that for me.”

He cracked a smile. It was crooked, a smidge embarrassed, and way too charming for Bret’s well-being.

“I’m not interested,” Bret said stiffly. “This is an anti—”

“I know!” Harry said, holding up his hands. “I’m not actually desperate.”

Bret stopped short, frowning. Was Harry implying he’d have to be desperate to like Bret? Ouch. He wasn’t Abercrombie and Fitch material like Harry, but he didn’t think he was that bad.

“That came out wrong,” Harry rushed to say. “You’re cute in that nerdy hipster way.”

“Unbelievable,” Bret muttered under his breath.

“I mean it,” Harry said, misunderstanding the reason for Bret’s shutdown. “I would totally do you.”

Bret avoided his gaze. “Thanks, but no thanks.”

He made a quick exit from the kitchen, more than ready to get the real party started now that everyone had arrived.

“Hey, who wants to burn some shit?” he called out, grinning when a round of cheers went up.

EXCERPT FROM MY ANTI-BOYFRIEND

Brad had everyone fooled.

He wore his sexuality like a disguise. The short shorts, making his ass look fine and flashing perfectly tanned skin 12 months a year? The mesh shirts, the halter tops, the extra-tight T-shirts that showed his lithe form and nipple rings? Yeah. It was all the equivalent of his bat ears, cape and tights.

Well, tights worked for every disguise. But that wasn’t the point, he reminded himself. It’s just that tights can be so distracting, and Brad — like a playful kitten — could be easily distracted by shiny objects or balls of … well, not yarn. More like balls of Riley.

Too bad he couldn’t fool himself.

Brad watched Riley grinding on another slender guy with platinum blond hair and sultry lips on the dance floor of Club Ozone. A guy who wasn’t him. And his heart panged.

Fucking panged.

He threw back another shot to drown that feeling ASAP and flashed a grin at the two guys at the table with him.

He’d come out with his regular circle of friends. For the past few years, he’d met up with Riley, Chris and Harry for a few drinks before they each went out to pick up a man. Then Harry met Bret, his boyfriend of a little more than a year now, and he gave up their regular nights out.

Tonight, he and his boyfriend were both there, having been guilted to attend, so Brad had to put on a cheerful face. Just one more element of his disguise.

“You guys ready to get your dance on?”

Harry looked at Bret, and his boyfriend shrugged. Bret was a real cutie, and he could crack up a whole room at a board game night or house party, but put him around a bunch of sweaty, half-naked men and he went quiet.

“Maybe in a few,” Harry said with a smile.

He leaned in and kissed Bret’s cheek. Gag. Who needed that kind of affection, right?

Pang.
Brad jumped up. “Okay, party poopers. Catch you on the other side!”

He stormed onto the dance floor, ready to burn away his sudden onset of melancholy. A good adrenaline rush and an erection rubbing against his ass would take care of him in short order. After all, why should he care that Riley was sexing up his next conquest on the dance floor? That’s what he did. That’s what they both did.

They agreed years ago that hearts and flowers were not for them. They were friends, wingmen and occasional fuck buddies.

But that was all.

EXCERPT FROM MY ANTI-MARRIAGE

“We’ll take off the rings. Problem solved.”

“No, problem not solved. We’re still married.” Chris’s breathing sped up. “We have to undo it!”

Ant guided him to the bed and pushed him down on the edge. Squeezing his shoulders, he met Chris’s eye.

“Come on now. Maybe this isn’t what it looks like.”

Chris laughed harshly. “I know that line is like your bread and butter as a player, but it’s always what it fucking looks like. Why the fuck else would we be wearing wedding rings?”

“I don’t know,” Ant growled.

“Do you remember last night?”

“Some,” he said grudgingly. “I remember hitting every casino we passed on the strip and taking a few shots at each one. You were hell-bent on checking out wedding venues for Brad and Riley. Maybe we took that too far, huh?” Ant smiled wryly. “What about you?”

“Not much after you found me at the fountain,” Chris admitted. “You were playing the responsible sober guy card with me, trying to get me to go to dinner. So, how the hell did we end up here?”

“My guess? You were totally unreasonable,” Ant said.

Chris huffed. “Sure, it’s my fault. I made you follow me around like a muscled-up bodyguard.”

Ant rolled his eyes. They were getting off-track. “So, we both have a few memory gaps,” he said, massively understating the issue. “I’m sure I’ll remember eventually. Or you will.”

Chris sighed. “What now? Everyone’s waiting on us downstairs.”

Ant shook his head. “Brunch first. Try to act normal. No one has to know. Divorce can wait for dessert.”

“Annulment,” Chris corrected. “Annulment makes it like it never happened, right? I want that one.”

One kiss under the mistletoe destroyed a friendship. Will another Christmas kiss remake it into something better?

Eli hasn't been home since he left at eighteen with a heart aching from his best friend's rejection and his father's intolerance. But when his father reaches out, Eli figures it's time to make peace with his family. He doesn't expect to come face-to-face with Turner too -- or to learn that the straight friend he'd foolishly loved is actually bisexual -- but once the shock wears off, he knows exactly what he wants for Christmas.

Turner's life isn't everything he'd once planned, but he's happy to be the shoulder his loved ones lean on. They keep him busy, which is just as well since none of his dates have really clicked. He hasn't been able to connect with anyone the way he did with his former best friend. When Eli shows up for the holidays after years away, Turner doesn't know what hit him. But he knows one thing: This time, he wants to give Eli a reason to stay.

All I Want Is You is a friends to lovers, second-chance romance with an HEA.

Review

It's the most wonderful time of the year! That's right, I got to read my first Christmas Coupling Story of the year! DJ Jamison did a wonderful, delightful and second chance coming home story.

Eli Harp had left his small bigoted town eight years ago and hasn't missed it at all, well except for maybe one person! He is now living his life the way he wants in sunny California in a job he loves...well did love..tis the season and all that! With the not so sudden hints from his former boss/friend he is now making that trip home again! What can be more joyful for a gay man with no job coming back to a place that literally made his life hell as a teenager, a father that literally forced him out of his only home, and a place where he made the stupidest mistake that cost him his best friend? Yes, my friend Eli is driving back with bells on his jazzy car singing "Home Sweet Home," now that part I did make up!  But y'all are getting the picture now.

But beyond that....lots of things have changed! Like the fact that his once best friend now works with his father and now is practically part of the family. Although, there are still some homophobic people, things have definitely changed a lot. Like getting hit on by a former sexy classmate....hello big bear!! It seems the only person who is acting weird about them just being friends is Turner.

Mixed feelings from Turner, his father trying to build a relationship but past hurts still lingering, is leaving Eli more flustered then ever.

However, Eli's secret Christmas wish has finally come true, Turner wants to be more than friends. Eli and Turner are burning the sheets inside while the snow is blowing outside. Eli doesn't mind some fun before he leaves for California in a few weeks however, Turner has different plans.

Get lost in this incredible story of two men that are in store for so much this holiday season.

Excerpt

Turner kissed him, and Eli’s heart exploded into a frantic pace. Turner’s lips were on his, finally. And all his anger, all his disappointment washed away on a wave of endorphins.

This felt right. It was as if he’d been holding his breath for eight years, and he could finally exhale.

But it was over too soon. Eli hadn’t gotten a taste of Turner’s tongue, the kiss quick and chaste. He hadn’t gotten to run his fingers through his hair. Hadn’t put his hands on him at all.

Nothing but their lips had touched, and it was the single, best kiss of his life.

“I’d like us to be friends again, real friends,” Turner said. “Even after you leave again for California.”

Oh, right. Eli would be leaving. Turner would be staying. Nothing had changed.

His racing heart slowed. Grew heavy. Thudded hollowly.

“Friends,” he repeated.

“I know you’re not staying long,” Turner added. “So, it’s just a kiss. Between friends.”

“A friendly kiss,” Eli said.

Turner chuckled. “Yeah.”

“Okay,” Eli said.

And yet he sensed something more between the lines of Turner’s spoken words. Honesty, yes, but also yearning. Could it be possible that Turner wanted him as much as he’d always wanted Turner?

There was only one way to find out.

Eli wrapped a hand around the back of Turner’s neck, tugged him close, and kissed him hard. If he was only getting one kiss, he was going to make it count. He was going to kiss the daylights out of Turner and decide for himself how much Turner Williams wanted Elijah Harp.

Promotional Post: Room for Recovery by DJ Jamison #Excerpt #Giveaway

Author: DJ Jamison
Title: Room for Recovery
Series: Hearts and Health #4
Self Published
Publication date: February 26, 2018
Length: 250 pages

Synopsis

Beau James isn't out, but he's not fooling anyone. When he's cornered by two bullies, he's rescued by none other than the broody Wade Ritter, who he's crushed on from afar. Despite their family connection, Wade has resisted all of Beau's attempts at friendship -- until now. His protective streak gives Beau an opportunity to get past Wade's prickly exterior.

Wade considers Beau to be a quasi-cousin. He's been careful to keep Beau in that box because he is too tempting to a gay boy determined to remain in the closet after his coming out went all wrong. But when Wade sees bullies harassing Beau, he offers to help. Little does he know this small crack in the walls around his heart is the opening Beau needs to move in and change Wade's life.

After years off the rails, Wade realizes there's room for recovery. If he can face hard truths about his sexuality and love himself, he might be able to love Beau too.

Room for Recovery is part of the Hearts and Health series. It contains cameo appearances by other characters in the series, but it can be read as a standalone. The book is approximately 77,000 words long.

Guest Post

As a writer of m/m romance, I’ve written my share of books about sexy men falling in love (and getting it on). But sometimes, it’s important to take a step back and remember what it means to write gay, bisexual or otherwise queer characters. The men who inspire our books don’t always have happy endings -- or beginnings, for that matter.

Room for Recovery is my attempt to acknowledge some of the challenges LGBTQIA individuals face. These issues aren’t always sexy, but they can be romantic. There’s something inspiring about a love that requires risk and sacrifice.

Reviewers have described the book as emotional and poignant without ripping your heart out. Despite some serious themes, Room for Recovery is still a love story. It is the journey of two young men who find strength, compassion and a path to self-acceptance in one another. And while the story doesn’t have a happy beginning, Wade and Beau do get the happy ending they deserve.

Note: While Room for Recovery has YA themes, both characters are over eighteen and there are some explicit scenes in the story.

Excerpt

Today, I’d like to share the Prologue of Room for Recovery with you. The rest of the story jumps ahead four years, but this is the catalyst for why Wade struggles with self-acceptance.

PROLOGUE

Wade opened the door to the man cave built into the garage of his house. It was mostly a TV room with a bunch of “manly” décor: an illuminated cigars sign, a series of framed football jerseys from Kansas City Chiefs players, classic car posters and a liquor cabinet stocked with the scotch his father liked. His dad went there to retreat — more and more often in the past few months — behind an invisible “keep out” sign.
Wade hesitated on the threshold. He felt like he was walking into a bear’s den and offering himself up for a meal.
Maybe neutral territory would be better, he thought.
Wade had considered a lot of ways to come out. Announce it at the dinner table. Send a text message or make a Facebook post. Boom, it’s over. But he knew his father would hate that. Byron Ritter always told Wade to confront his fears head-on. He’d want to hear the news face-to-face, man-to-man.
And there was no reason to worry. Not when Bryon’s close friend was an openly gay surgeon.
His pep talk propelled him through the doorway.
“Hey, Dad?”
Byron blinked as sunlight bled into the darkened room. “In or out, Wade, but shut the door.”
Wade latched the metal door and approached his dad, who sat in front of a large flat-screen TV playing a show about catching crab in arctic weather conditions. There was a lot of wind and water and shouting on the screen.
Wade swiped sweaty palms on the thighs of his jeans.
“Can I talk to you?”
“What is it?”
His father’s eyes remained on the screen. Wade didn’t want to compete with television, but maybe it would be better if his father was only partially absorbing his words. He could pretend he was talking to himself.
“I think I’m gay.”
The sound of the television show dropped away as Byron hit the mute button. He turned to Wade, eyes laser focused. “Say that again?”
“I think ... I mean, I’m pretty sure. I’m gay.” Unnerved by his father's intent look, he added, “Like Trent.”
Invoking Trent’s name didn’t offer him the automatic acceptance he’d expected. His dad’s expression didn’t clear. No smile of understanding appeared.
His father shook his head slowly. “You’re a bit young to know something like that, Wade. You’ve got years of growing up to do.”
Wade had thought about waiting to come out, maybe until he was in college. Or after he was living on his own, settled in a job. But if he did that, there’d be pressure. Pressure to date girls, to go to prom. Already, as a high school freshman, his secret weighed on him. He wanted everything out in the open — at least with his family and friends. The homophobic assholes didn’t need to know.
He swallowed hard. “I’m fifteen, Dad. My friends already have girlfriends, and I don’t want one.”
Byron smiled, looking relieved. “Is that what this is about? You know your mother was a late bloomer too. Never dated until college. Don’t worry if you’re not interested yet.”
Wade’s insides clenched. This wasn’t going how he’d hoped. He’d imagined the outcome hundreds of times, everything from acceptance to disgust. He hadn’t imagined his dad willfully misunderstanding him.
“No, Dad. You don’t get it. I like boys.”
His father sighed, suddenly looking older than his forty years. He rubbed his temples. Wade noticed a tumbler with a third of amber liquid in the bottom, and now that he looked closer, his father’s eyes were bloodshot. Was he tired or drunk? Wade wasn’t sure. His father wasn’t an alcoholic or anything. He’d only started drinking more lately. Mom said he was stressed about work and not to worry if he seemed a little rough around the edges.
“Listen, Wade. I know you think you know everything now that you’re a teenager, but life is complicated. It’s not easy. And being gay ... it’ll make your life harder. So, I’m going to give you a piece of advice. Take your time and really be sure before you start telling people you’re gay. Give yourself time to grow up more, okay? You know that Trent is my friend, but kiddo, I don’t want you ending up like him. That’s not what anyone would want. Can you do that for me? Can you just take some time and think about it?”
The lump in Wade’s throat prevented him from answering. He nodded, eyes burning with tears that wanted to come. He ruthlessly pushed them down, unwilling to cry because his father hadn’t offered unconditional love and a warm hug. He’d been silly to imagine it could go that way. He knew, deep down, that it might not. Plenty of worst-case scenarios had danced in his head, and this wasn’t the worst of them by far. His father seemed so reasonable … but it still hurt.
“Good man.”
Byron punched the volume button on the remote, and the shouts of distressed fishermen filled the room once more. Wade walked out in a daze, not sure how to feel. He was out, but he wasn’t. He was in limbo.
But if his dad needed Wade to take time to think about it — even though it seemed like all he’d done for months was think about it — then he’d do that. He could wait to tell his mother and his friends, let his father get used to the idea. He had probably been surprised by Wade’s news, but he would come around.
Everything would be fine.
But it wasn’t fine. Could never be fine again.

Because Byron Ritter killed himself the next day.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

DJ Jamison is the author of more than a dozen m/m romances, including the Ashe Sentinel series and the Hearts and Health series. She writes a variety of queer characters, from gay to bisexual to asexual, with a focus on telling love stories that are more about common ground than lust at first sight. DJ grew up in the Midwest in a working-class family, and those influences can be found in her writing through characters coping with real-life problems: money troubles, workplace drama, family conflicts and, of course, falling in love. DJ spent more than a decade in the newspaper industry before chasing her first dream to write fiction. She spent a lifetime reading before that, and continues to avidly devour her fellow authors’ books each night. She lives in Kansas with her husband, two sons, two fish and, regrettably, one snake. DJ is active on social media under her pen name as well as her real name, Davina Jamison. She's a member of the Queer Romance Freebie/Fan Club on Facebook with more than a dozen other m/m romance authors and posts regularly in her own FB group DJ and Company. Blurb

Winter Blom: Lane Cross works construction to pay the bills, and makes metal art to … also pay the bills. As a single dad, the enjoyment of his art has taken a backseat to making ends meet. And his love life has taken a back seat to caring for his son, especially when Zach, age 6, sabotages every babysitting attempt Lane makes. Then Lane meets news intern Andy Blom. The man’s Swedish name meaning bloom is perfect for him: Andy is refreshingly sweet and vibrant. But when Lane moves too fast, will he scare away the surprisingly innocent young man – or will Andy’s journalistic ethics end them before they ever begin?

Chance for Christmas: Chance Rasmussen returns to Ashe, Kansas, eight years after his high school crush humiliated him with a sext that went viral. He's low on holiday spirit with his personal ghost of Christmas past haunting him, but when his BFF asks him to attend a party as her fake date, he reluctantly agrees. The last person he expects to see there is Joe Stewart, the compassionate prosecutor he hero-worshipped during the lowest point of his life. The spark of attraction is still there, but Chance isn't planning to stay in Ashe past the holidays and the specter of his past still looms large between them. Can they find a way to build a future together or will Joe only have Chance for Christmas?

Yours For The Holiday: Remy Wells is in no mood to share a room with his brother's best friend during a holiday stay. Jason Hendricks has always treated him like a little brother to tease and taunt, all the more embarrassing because Remy has secretly crushed on the jerk since puberty. But when Jason confides he's bisexual, Remy realizes the crush he loves to hate could be the perfect rebound.

Two of the books in this set are from the Ashe Sentinel Connections universe, but each romance introduces new characters and can be read on its own.

Excerpts

Chance for Christmas

Joe found Chance lingering in the entryway to the back hallway, hands stuffed in his pockets, pulling his already snug jeans even tighter across his thighs. He had his head tipped back against the wall and his eyes were closed, allowing Joe to look his fill.
He stared for a long moment, reminding himself of who Chance had been to him. Comparing the boy to the man. In many ways, he was the same guy. That dark, glossy hair just a bit wild about his face. That smooth skin, more tan than pale after years spent in California but still just as creamy.
Yet, there was a strength to him that had been missing when he was younger. His sweater fit him like a glove, stretching across shoulders much more capable of carrying a burden than the day they met.
“Hey, Joe.”
Joe looked up into the gray eyes that were the most telling feature in Chance’s transformation from boy to man. Instead of eyes pleading for a rescue, Joe saw clarity and confidence.
Chance’s lips spread into a slow smile, and Joe knew he was busted for staring.
“Hey,” he said stupidly.
Unable to come up with a good excuse for looking at Chance like he was a prime cut of beef, he fumbled for something else to say. “Sarah okay?”
Chance glanced down the hall toward the closed door of the women’s room. “I’ll give her five more minutes and then make sure she hasn’t passed out in there.”
“That bad, huh?”
Chance nodded, his eyes flicking up to meet Joe’s. “Guess you know now that our date was a bit of a sham.”
The whole party knew after that outburst on Sarah’s part. Not that Joe didn’t already suspect. He came to know Chance well all those years ago, and that boy was gay.
“I figured it must be. I didn’t know why.”
Chance shrugged a shoulder. “Sarah wanted a date, and I owed her a favor. All her friends are coupling up. You know how that goes. She was tired of being looked on as pitiful for being single.”
“There’s nothing wrong with being single. It’s not an affliction,” Joe said mildly.
“That’s right,” Chance said. “You’re single, aren’t you?”
Joe laughed, but it came out strangled. This was his opportunity — maybe the only one he’d ever get — to ask out Chance. Take him on a date. Be with him the way he wished he could have eight years ago, even if only for one night.
Chance would inevitably leave town again, but Joe could have this moment. If Chance wanted it, too.

Winter Blom

Andy sucked in a sharp breath, going utterly still in his arms, and Lane wondered for a moment if he’d made a mistake. This gorgeous guy had been pinging his gaydar from the moment they met, but maybe it was wishful thinking on Lane’s part. He hadn’t met someone who appealed to him so strongly in a long, long time.
Then Andy made a soft noise against his mouth, and melted in his arms. Thank God.
Lane pulled back to whisper, “So great,” before returning to the man’s lips, this time tracing his tongue along the seam of Andy’s mouth and encouraging him to open for a deeper kiss.
Their tongues met, and Lane groaned, his cock hard in his pants.
It had been a long damn time since he’d been laid. Between being a single dad, working full time and doing artwork — more because it supplemented his income than because he loved it, these days — he didn’t have time to date. Not to mention, he hadn’t felt ready until this past year.
Losing someone you loved was awful. Losing the mother of your child was devastating on two levels: Lane’s grief for his wife had been difficult enough, but watching his son grieve – mourning the mother his son would never have – had been nearly unbearable.
Lane’s hands slid under Andy’s shirt, tracing up the bony knobs of his spine.
He’d been right; Andy’s skin was as soft as flower petals. He thought back to the flower he’d begun crafting in his garage that afternoon — the daffodil, a flower he hadn’t created before. A flower that represented new beginnings. He knew because Christy had been a florist and she’d drilled the symbolism of flowers into his head every chance she got. She’d been passionate about them, and now it felt like a sign.
This was right. He had her blessing.
Andy trembled in his arms, kissing him with little finesse but enough passion Lane didn’t care. He was unraveling under Lane’s hands, and that was good enough. More than good enough.

Yours For The Holiday

“Hey,” Jason said quietly. The bed dipped as he sat down on the edge of the mattress. “You okay?”
“Oh, so you’re done avoiding me?” Remy said, hating the bitter edge to his words. He swallowed hard, trying to gain control over his emotions, so he didn’t make a fool of himself yet again.
“I’m sorry,” Jason said. He sounded sorry. Truly regretful.
Remy pushed up, struggling into a seated position against the headboard. If they were going to have this talk, he wanted to look Jason in the eye.
Swallowing hard, Remy forced out words that had been nagging at him all day. “I’m sorry too. I got carried away. I didn’t mean to pressure you—”
“God no, Remy,” Jason interrupted. “No, no. It wasn’t like that.”
Jason’s hand hovered in the air. Remy watched Jason hesitate before resting his big palm over Remy’s thigh. The blankets formed a barrier between them, but the point of contact burned as if he could feel the warmth spilling from Jason’s hand.
“Then I’m confused,” Remy said.
“I, uh, find you very sexy,” Jason said, voice tinged with embarrassment. It would be charming if it weren’t for the heavy topic of conversation. “But I need the Wells family. I don’t talk about my parents much, but—”
“I know it’s not great,” Remy said. “Dad filled me in on what happened last summer with your mom.”
“Yeah,” Jason said. “So, basically, I’m terrified of fucking everything up. If I go there with you, I might hurt you. And if your parents or Derek find out, I’m not sure what they’d do. It’s just … messy.”
“It doesn’t have to be,” Remy said. “It’s just some fun. No strings needed. And as for going there with me, don’t you think the cat’s already out of the bag? You’ve had your hand on my dick.”
Jason glanced at Remy’s crotch, unable to resist teasing him. “Cat’s out of the bag? And here I thought pussy only referred to—”
Remy slapped his hand over Jason’s mouth. “Don’t say it!”
Jason chuckled, his warm breath gusting over Remy’s palm. Remy shivered as their eyes locked and held. When the wet tip of Jason’s tongue licked a stripe over his hand, he couldn’t hold back a small moan.
“Fuck you, JJ,” he muttered, pulling his hand back. “If you’re going to say no, don’t fucking tease me.”
“I’m not saying no,” Jason said roughly. “I probably should, but I can’t say no to you again. Not one more fucking time.”
