When Matt takes his dog Willie to the park, another
dog connects instantly with Willie.
Matt feels awful when he understands this dog belongs
to Collin, his ex.
They ended their relationship because of Collin's
first dog, who hated Matt and Matt didn’t see the importance of the dog in
Collin’s life. Collin chooses the dog. So, here they are now, both with a dog.
Collin wants a second chance with Matt, only Matt’s
heart is still shattered and even though there is a strong connection, he knows
it won’t survive a second break. Collin is determined and takes every chance to
connect with Matt.
This is somewhat a sweet story, super light, just like
the cover suggests for me. I’d love to say that I adored this story but I’m
afraid I can’t. I struggled to connect with their conversations and thoughts,
they flutter and were indecisive. I tried hard to like them, still, both
personalities couldn’t capture my heart, I’m sorry to say but even their dogs
couldn’t. What I did like was how the hurt of Matt was described, at those
moments I felt the emotion. For me, it would have been a more comfortable read
when I had known how old they both were, and how long ago they separated, and
the story had more development with characters’ traits. I missed a lot of
background story that’s why I felt a bit lost while reading.
For the readers who love a short and light read with
dogs, love, hurt and a happy end this one suits.
