Why And When I Review
One thing you will NEVER see come from me is a poor review. I review for reasons. I want to see an author succeed. Praise does so much. It helps people looking for a genuinely good book to find it. It gives the author validation that their work is wanted, loved and appreciated.
I'm not going to waste my time spreading negativity. If I read a book and I don't like it, I'm not going to talk about it. That's it. It IS that simple.
I'm the master of my domain here and I can set that rule.
I have actually been asked quite a few times to join review sites, and as honored as I am, I can't do it. I will not tear anyone down for their work. I just sooner say nothing at all.
My first book is on the cusp of completion. As much as I know it will receive negative reviews... We all know there are trolls everywhere. I know what it will do to me reading those bad reviews. So, I'm not going to be a part of that.
People have asked me for recommendations and I've given them. On a rare occasion I have been asked about a book that I didn't particularly like and I simply say. "It wasn't for me, but that doesn't mean it isn't something you'll like." Because that is honest.
I review to spread positive energy. We have enough negative, don't you think? I review great books of MY choosing because I can.
Unless you've done it, you have no idea what writing a book does to a person. You are exposed. Vulnerable. Judged for tearing open your heart and mind for the world to see.
I think Review sites are helpful and I do review on GR and Amazon with that same reason. Only good reviews.
I don't have it in me to write a bad review. It's not who I am. So, for all those wondering. I'm shocked I'm asked as often as I am. I am not a person who runs a review site. I run a site for books, writers.
Any and all promotion I do I do for the authors and I do it for those who love great books. It's that simple :)
