Synopsis

Holden Payne has it all . . . or so he thinks. As heir to the founder of the Community—an organization that finds, protects, and manages psychics—he’s rich, powerful, and treated like royalty. But after a series of disappearances and murders rock the Community, he’s branded the fall guy for the scandal and saddled with a babysitter.

Sixtus Rossi is a broad-shouldered, tattooed lumbersexual with a man bun and a steely gaze. He’s also an invulnerable—supposedly impervious to both psychic abilities and Holden’s charms. It’s a claim Holden takes as a challenge. Especially if sleeping with Six may help him learn whether the Community had more to do with the disappearances than they claimed.

As Holden uncovers the truth, he also finds himself getting in deep with the man sent to watch him. His plan to seduce Six for information leads to a connection so intense that some of Six’s shields come crashing down. And with that comes a frightening realization: Holden has to either stand by the Community that has given him everything, or abandon his old life to protect the people he loves.

Review

Okay, let's talk about this book! First off it is NOT a standalone. This is part of a series and they must be read in order. If you start here you will be lost and your confusion will be your punishment. Because book one (The Community) left us with a lot of questions we were all eager to get to book two, Oversight.  Book one focused on Nate and Trent. Book two focuses on Holden ( you very much remember him from book one) and Six (he's new). This takes place shortly after book one ends though no time is given you just know. People are disappearing, changing, everything is all 6's and 7's. Holden, the son of Richard Payne who founded The Community, is basically the key to making things right.

There's a fight that reaches a certain climax with each passing book. A piece of the puzzle is put in place but we are always left slightly frustrated that the bad guys have not completely perished. But that is all part of the wonderful storytelling. You are getting answers but there's a process and you have to ride the wave.

In book one I wasn't sure I liked Holden all that much. By the end of Oversight, I not only liked him but I broke for him. He loses so much in this but gains a heck of a lot more. He's such a misunderstood character and I am so freaking happy in this one we peel away the layers.

Six is a terrific edition to this series. He's an invulnerable. He has next to no real personality and his blunt deadpan reactions come across flawlessly. He is such an awesome character and though not easy to love at first you so do by the end.

This is such an intriguing story and series. It's one journey broken down and as it moves forth we have two new MC's carrying it along. We see into book three at the end of this and it's two MC's I'm dying to read. It's great to know there's more to this and that we won't wait forever. It's worth the wait but the brilliance of this series makes us chomping at the bit!

About The Community Series

What lies beneath the surface of the world you thought you knew?

Secrets and lies have twisted an underground community founded by psychics escaping persecution. Blackmail, sex, and social climbing in the name of power has created an irreparable rift.

In the eyes of the founders, there are two sides: loyalists and everyone else. Surely no one would emerge from their tightly woven webs. And they certainly wouldn’t sow the seeds of rebellion within the heart of the Community’s only queer night club.

Now an outcast, a scion, and a runaway are leading a revolution to save not only the men they love, but the entire Community.
