We all have tragic backstories in today's world.
I wake up chained to the wall of a dark cell aware of two things: I failed my sister, and I smell my enemy.
When I’m taken to meet Dare, the alpha of the Silver Tip pack, I’m sure I’m about to lose my throat. The last thing I expect is for the Alpha to recognize me as his fated mate. No way is he going to let me go now, and I still have to find a way to rescue my sister.
As I plot my escape to save her, I find that if I leave, Dare could be killed by power-hungry members of his pack. And now he’s more to me than my fated mate—my heart is involved. With time ticking by on my sister’s life, I have to make a choice I never thought I’d face—my sister’s life or my mate’s? That’s if I can survive the undead shifters intent on killing me first...
Daring Fate is this author’s first shifter/paranormal story. Now, she said she was nervous because it's new waters for her. She actually questioned publishing it. I’m grateful to whatever Gods that made her go forth in her quest to publish a paranormal story.
I’ve pretty much come to the conclusion that Megan Erickson could write anything and I’d read it. Daring Fate shows her vast playground of creativity. I adore shifter stories so much!! I couldn’t put this one down at all. I started it in the morning and read it straight through until 2 am the following morning! Only really stopping for food, water, things like that.
It’s so difficult to keep me engaged like that so the fact that she was able to with these amazing characters, brilliant plot, and unique signature, makes me a follower of this series for sure!
While Megan has a lot of the same laws that shifter stories have she has also weaved little particulars that are her own and that you have to with paranormal. There’s so much out there it’s vital not to have the reader saying, “Same story different characters.” She truly balanced out the old school with the new school.
Dare is the Alpha Were of the Silver Tip pack and the last thing he ever expected was to find his one true mate from a half dead (beaten by his pack) Werewolf named Reese. Reese is witty, funny, strong, smart. Everything Dare needs out of a mate! Watching their evolution was precision perfect. Nothing was rushed yet nothing stagnated.
The suspense was all the rage! All the angles... there was enemies and trouble while all the while they lived in a peace, a sanctuary.
Megan’s secondary characters are all very important not just to Reese and Dare’s story but to the future ones of this series. Of that I have no doubt!
I highly recommend this story and to keep a sharp eye out for the rest of this series!
