Review

This anthology, written by a very talented group of writers, has all proceeds benefiting the charity One.n.Ten. So if for no other reason than that you will want to purchase this book to help this wonderful group otherwise just visit them here http://onenten.org/ to see how you can help.

We all have our favorite tropes to read but these ladies really made a wonderful heart filled case for Friends to Lovers trope! They really did a remarkable job writing short stories, that were not only well developed, but left you loving the characters, feeling fulfilled, and  at the same time wanting more from these guys or at the very least their world. I like to say I have a favorite story in here but each one gave something different so picking is impossible!

Whether it was in Rough Edges by Cardeno C. where Brent, even though he knows he is really disliked by Kyle, decides to lend a helping hand when Brent needs it most by letting him crash in his spare room. Kyle thinks Brent is a spoiled and lazy trust fund kid and Brent knows that Kyle’s animosity towards him is less about him and more about his circumstances in life. This leads down a path of Kyle finally opening his eyes to who Brent truly is (with some sexy times to help them along) and finding more than a friend living in the next room.

Or Unexpected by Ella Frank where we get to meet Connor and Tyler who are best friends who lately have been drifting apart due to some outside forces. Although they are both currently attached Connor starts to realize his feelings for his best friend are changing and his body is totally on board to take the next step. Tyler knows something is up with Connor but this was not what he expected when he went to his sister’s wedding. Not that he is complaining...exactly.

Then there is Dare You To by Riley Hart best friends Dare and Austin who make sure to set aside time to spend with each other no matter what is going on in their lives no project, job, or boyfriend will come between them on their Sunday’s together. After his latest breakup Austin feels he is in need of some change. While Dare thinks he is perfect the way he is he decides to be Austin’s guide in all things adventurous and fun which sends them down a pretty hot and steamy path filled with emotional bombs from Dare’s past.

Leaning Into Love by Lane Hayes brings us a new series with friends Eric and Zane leading the way. Zane has been crushing on his friend Eric for quite sometime, just waiting for Eric to realize what was right there in front of him. But Eric doesn’t see him that way, of course, he thinks Zane is hot and sexy but them together? They’re just friends...right? Lately though he is seeing some looks in Zane’s eyes he never saw before.

Of course, The Sweetest Goodbye by Christina Lee, brings the need for some tissues and your dancing shoes and maybe a chair for a lap dance. Billie and Dylan are best friends that work side by side at Billie’s, or Will as Dylan likes to call him, bakery everyday along with the adorable Bullseye, Billie’s seizure dog. Billie has been pining and waiting for his childhood sweetheart to come back home so they can pick up where they left off. But is his life is in this rut and Dylan tries his best to bring him out once a week to get him to live. Billie knows that Dylan’s dream job isn’t working at the bakery, it’s dancing, but he knows through life’s tough times Dylan never got to live that dream. They both are on a path in their life where dreams they once held dear change and others comes true, ones that keep them together or tear them apart.

Please Don’t Go by Felice Stevens is about reunited friends running into each other when neither expected it but life is funny that way. Danny is lonely. His life is made up of work and his best friend Maxi but outside of that he has nothing but he dreams of the young man who was his best friend at camp who up and disappeared on him one day...just like everyone else. Paul who never was able to set down roots hopes to be able to do it in NYC so with a transfer from the Ft. Lauderdale office, his plan has been set in motion. Little did he know on his first day he would run into none other than Daniel Friedman, the boy through all the late night escapes and name changes he never forgot. Danny isn’t so forgiving at first and makes Paul prove he is sticking around because who would stick around for someone like him, no one else ever has.

Last but certainly not least is Perfect Catch by N.R. Walker with best friends Cal and Troy are about to take a fishing trip for the first time alone. Usually a group of friends go along but mysteriously this time they’re all busy *wink, wink*. They both have a had a crush on each other, without the other knowing it, for many years but they’ve never been able to be in sync in life to allow them the opening to create a new path for them. Will they chicken out or take the first step to true happiness together?

All of these stories filled my heart, made me smile, sometimes cry, but always believe in the romance of friends finding their love from the one person they least expected it. I was always surprised and slightly disappointed every time I saw THE END because even in a short story these authors found a way to suck you in and never want to let go.
