Synopsis

Everyone at Jim Irving’s garage is gung ho about Wrench Wars, a new reality show featuring mechanics. Everyone, that is, except talented mechanic Chandler Scott, the sole employee who has refused to sign the contract. The rest of the mechanics are pressuring him too, because without Chandler—and his volatile interactions with his boss—no one’s getting on the show.

Chandler’s one ally is Jim’s son, Mark, who’s being forced to work for his dad until he pays down his student loans or finds a better job—and who’s been Chandler’s secret lover for a while.

Then a playful tryst in the garage blows up in their faces, giving the network ammo to blackmail Chandler by threatening to out Mark to his father. Now Chandler is backed into a corner, and Mark needs to decide how far he’s willing to go to protect the man who’s been sharing his bed… and may have stolen his heart.

Review

Secrets. Some are the bad kind, some are the good kind, some are hot, sweaty, heart pounding, need to catch your breath kind. Do you have a secret? What would you give up to keep that secret from coming out and hurting the one you love? Or would you expose your secret to help the one you love? Welcome to the world of Wrench Wars where at Jim’s Garage, Chandler Scott and Mark Irving have some decisions that need to be made before someone makes it for them.

Chandler has put in tough spots before. I mean he’s having a secret affair with Mark, Jim’s son, for two years now, and now he really doesn't want to sign the papers for Wrench Wars to film them at work, a place he already despises but has no choice to work at. This tough spot affects all of his co-workers, he doesn’t sign and they don't get what the network promised them; money,15 minutes of fame, and better job prospects. And in this one horse town those things mean everything to these men, so much that they would betray each other to get what they want.

Mark knows that the day he comes out to his parents his Dad will disown him but right now he needs to work at his Dad’s garage in order to stay afloat financially. One hot night between Mark and Chandler changes the rules for them. Now the network has forced Chandler's hand, but he would do anything for Mark because he loves him. Now it’s up to Mark to decide what he wants to do...let Chandler suffer to keep his secret or stand up and expose himself for all the world to see.

Mark and Chandler have fantastic chemistry in this book and although with this plot you have to suspend belief at certain aspects to make it believable it is also a good short read that will light you on fire. I loved these two MC’s but I do wish we were able to get more of backstory on the time before they were already established or even how it started. One thing that was perfect was how Chandler’s love for Mark, which you can just feel through this story, was portrayed with him being the strong tough guy with a core of mush. I love a tough guy that just loves so completely!

L.A. Witt never disappoints with her books and this one doesn’t either!
